Sony PlayStation has published full information regarding the backward compatibility of the PlayStation 5 with the PlayStation 4. Games will work in Game Boost mode, save can be transferred via Wi-Fi, and some games can even be upgraded to PS5 version.
As Jim Ryan promised earlier, 99% of PS4 games will run on the PS5 - in fact, there are even more. Of the 4000+ titles, only a few will be impossible to launch on the PlayStation 5, Whcih are as follows:
- DWVR
- Afro Samurai 2 Revenge of Kuma Volume One
- TT Isle of Man - Ride on the Edge 2
- Just Deal With It!
- Shadow complex remastered
- Robinson: The Journey
- We sing
- Hitman Go: Definitive Edition
- Shadwen
- Joe's diner
In order to run a PS4 game, you need, as usual, to install it from the library or from a disc. Saves can be transferred over Wi-Fi, external media, or downloaded from PlayStation Plus storage.
Some games will offer a paid or free upgrade to a digital PS5 version. To get it, you need to select the appropriate option in the game menu on the console home screen, even if you have a disc version of the game. In this case, you still have to use the disk every time you start.
