Watch Dogs Legion's 1.44GB PC Patch Released Doesn't Deliver Significant Performance Improvements

Watch Dogs Legion's 1.44GB PC Patch Released

As promised, Ubisoft has released the first update for the PC version of Watch Dogs Legion . This update promised to improve overall performance as well as RTX performance. Unfortunately, there are no major performance improvements.

Ubisoft claimed that this patch will optimize performance to boost frame rates for RTX GPUs and improve performance while driving. What's more, the team claimed there would be several improvements to PC performance.

Unfortunately, no significant performance improvements were noticed. If the test used a system with Intel i9 9900K and 16 GB DDR4 at 3600 MHz, NVIDIA RTX 2080Ti, 64-bit version of Windows 10 and the latest GeForce drivers.

Both DX11 and DX12 worked the same as the unpatched version. The processor utilization was the same in the two versions. DX11 seems to have used all CPU cores / threads, whereas DX12 did not fully use the available CPU cores / threads. Despite this, overall performance on the test system was identical (via both APIs).

In both Ultra and Very High settings, there were drops to 50fps while driving.

This PC patch is 1.44GB in size and UPLAY will download it the next time you launch the client.
