Big patch for Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale extended editions in beta

It has been many years since Beamdog released their enhanced versions of the original Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale titles , but the studio has announced plans to update them with the "BIG 2.6 Patch" for Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition. The patch notes include many fixes for both the BG sequel and Icewind Dale.

The main features of version 2.6 will be the transition to 64-bit executable files, "hundreds of bug fixes, including many spell fixes", improved pathfinding and multiplayer stability, adding portraits of adventurers from Neverwinter in all three games.

Improved pathfinding will be a blessing if you've ever watched your heroes get stuck on top of each other in battle or how often they traveled a long way. The list of fixes is too long to post here, but includes a lot of details such as "Drizzt now correctly recognizes player assistance while ambushing gnolls" and "Fixed a crash when using Polymorph Self to become a brown bear when the recording screen was open"

Beamdog wants players to try out the 2.6 beta of Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition, but only a little. If you have it on Steam, you can select the beta version in the game properties, but at the moment the studio is only looking for feedback on whether the game starts and saves correctly. If you'd like to help, please test it and report it on the Beamdog forum or Steam.
