FIFA 21 - Black Screen, Connection Issues, Low FPS, Crashes

FIFA 21 is out on PC and consoles, marking another year the franchise hasn't missed. While we can't wait to get our hands on brand new gameplay and graphics, FIFA 21 does come with its own random glitches and bugs. If you're also having issues with FIFA 21, you may find some simple fixes in our list below.

FIFA 21 crashes on startup

The first thing you can try is to whitelist FIFA 21 on your firewall and antivirus and check if the crashes stop. If the problem persists, try running the game in windowed mode. To do this, you can either rename the game target shortcut to -w, press Alt + Enter when loading the game, or edit its .ini file to run in windowed mode.

Startup crashes can also be related to outdated GPU drivers. Check if you have any pending updates. Install them and then try launching the game. Try to run the game with administrator rights.

Can't connect to the internet

If you can't get FIFA 21 to connect to the internet, Electronic Arts offers several ways to make this possible. First, flush your DNS through the command console using the ipconfig / flushdns line. Close all background programs and run the game as administrator. Check if it works.

If this is not the case, then you can try restarting your computer and your internet connection, as the remainder of closed programs may refrain from connecting FIFA 21.

FIFA 21 - Low FPS

If FIFA 21 is very slow for you, you should check your GPU settings and your CPU / RAM usage. First, check if your GPU has any pending updates and install them. If this does not solve the problem, close all unnecessary programs and browser tabs, as they can speed up your game when the CPU and RAM usage is higher than usual.

Alternatively, you can play around with the graphical settings in FIFA 21 and see which options make your game smoother. For example, VSync sometimes causes game stuttering ut fixes some other problems. See which options are best for you.

FIFA 21 won't launch after update

Many players reported that FIFA 21 is no longer playable with the latest update. There are two ways to solve this problem, and one is more painful than the other.

First, try checking your game files if you're playing the game on Steam. In any case, this issue mainly affects the Steam version of the game. Try starting the game.

If that doesn't work, the next step is to reload the game. We know this is a shot to the heart, but it's your best bet to make FIFA 21 work.

Black screen after startup

A common problem that can have several different reasons for this to happen. The first is safety. Make sure you whitelist the game in your antivirus and firewall. If that didn't work, then most likely it will be your default resolution causing the game to show a black screen. Try running FIFA 21 in windowed mode and see if the problem is resolved. If so, you can switch back to full screen or set it to borderless for a smoother experience.

10 hour demo is not updated in the full game

Electronic Arts gave fans the ability to manually add their 10 hour progress to the game. Here it is:

  • Visit and sign in with your Microsoft / Xbox account that has an active EA Play Console subscription and has a pre-order or pre-order with FIFA 21 installed;
  • Scroll down and click the EA Play Free Trial button.
  • - You can go to the EA Play subscription page. If so, go back to the FIFA 21 Xbox One page - the button should change to Install on My Device if your subscription is active;
  • On the FIFA 21 Xbox One product page, click the ellipsis (...) button next to the Install on My Device button and click Free Trial.

These are all the crash and bug fixes we could have put together for FIFA 21 on PC so far. If you have other issues, you should wait for the next patch, which will be available soon, or open a ticket to Electronic Arts support for a customized solution.
