Genshin Impact: The Reputation System - All You Need To Know

Genshin Impact got a new system. We reveal how the reputation works and how you can increase your standing.

Patch 1.1 is now live in Genshin Impact and has brought a lot of new content. One of the most important features is the reputation system - in the German version it says “Ansehen”, although many players simply say “Reputation”. Various bonuses, recipes and rewards are activated via the system. In this guide we explain how to do what you need to do to get a high reputation score, how to increase your reputation and what the best rewards are.

This is how you unlock the reputation system: In order to be able to gain reputation, the system must first be unlocked. Depending on which of the two areas you want to collect reputation for, there are different requirements.

  • Reputation in Moon City: Reach Adventure Rank 25 and complete the quest series “The Stranger Who Catched the Wind” (Prologue - Act 1). You can then speak to Hertha in Mondstadt and access the Mondstadt reputation system.
  • Reputation in Liyue: Here, too, you need Adventure Rank 25. In addition, the quest series “The Farewell Visit” must have been completed (Chapter I - Act 2). You can then speak to Miss Yu in the port of Liyue. A quest should automatically lead you to it.

How do you rise in reputation? In order to increase the reputation of the population of Lunar City and Liyue, you must gain reputation experience. You get them through four different activities, which you can see at Hertha (Mondstadt) and Yu (Liyue). The four activities are:

  • Bounties: Find and defeat special enemies.
  • Requests from residents: Help residents with their problems.
  • World exploration: Explore the game world and loot the treasures.
  • Missions: The quest lines in the respective area.
What are bounties? Bounties are missions that require you to track down and defeat a specific enemy. Most of the time, these enemies have particular strengths and weaknesses. For example, a ruin guard could receive less damage from cryo and pyro damage, but be particularly susceptible to two-handed attacks. Study the assignment carefully to know the enemy's weaknesses before the fight.

Then accept the assignment and travel to the marked location on the map. Once you reach the location, a time limit will be triggered. Most of the time you first have to pick up the trail of the enemy by activating your elemental sight and finding several clues that lead to the enemy in the end. Find and defeat the target within the time limit to successfully complete the mission.

Stronger enemies give you more Reputation XP. If you want to increase your reputation quickly, you should accept the tougher jobs.

Requests from the residents: These requests are different orders from the residents and can be different. Most of the time, you just have to collect some items and bring them to the appropriate person to complete the assignment and be rewarded. You can always see what you have to collect in the job description.

Note that you can only complete 3 bounty contracts each week (reset on Monday). The limit applies to all cities together.

Note that you can only help 3 residents each week (reset on Monday). The limit applies to all cities together.

World exploration: You usually complete the world exploration while you play the game. You have to - as the name suggests - explore the game world. This means that you mainly open treasure chests and solve the little puzzles in the game world. Little by little, the percentage that tells you how much of the game world you have already explored and looted increases.

You can receive a reward for each of the steps 20%, 40% and 60%. That's a moderate amount of Mora and a large amount of Reputation XP.

The rewards for exploring the world can only be claimed once.

Missions: The last category shows how many quests you have already completed in Lunar City or Liyue. If you have completed a quest series in full, you can pick up a reward here. Main quests award 100 Reputation XP, while side quests only award 20 Reputation XP.

The rewards for assignments can only be collected once.

The rewards of the reputation system

What rewards does the reputation system bring? To make sure that all the effort is worth it, there are a number of rewards that can be unlocked via the reputation system. We'll show you all of the rewards you can get.

Whenever you have enough Reputation XP, you will go up to the Reputation level of Lunar City or Liyue. Then you can collect rewards.

After that you can basically freely choose whether you want to increase your reputation first in Liyue or in Lunar City - or both at the same time.
