Cyberpunk 2077 Defends "Negative" Reviews

Nearly seven years have passed since it was first shown and Cyberpunk 2077 is finally coming out. With the highly anticipated game release comes long-awaited reviews that many gamers rely on to judge whether the game is worth the time. While the vast majority of reviews for Cyberpunk 2077 have been positive, citing the game's elaborate world, characters, and overall gameplay, there are also a number of bad reviews. While most of these reviews are not surprisingly spectacular, it is surprising that Philip Weber, Senior Quest Designer for Cyberpunk 2077, continues to defend negative reviews for a game he has worked so hard on for almost a decade.

Cyberpunk 2077 Defends "Negative" Reviews

Negativity seems to get a lot more attention than positivity, and the gaming community is no exception. Philip stresses that negative reviews should be seen as more, but the words in the review are an important factor for a game like Cyberpunk 2077.

Since many game reviews focus on a numerical scale, it is fairly easy to write off a game simply because its score is below a certain threshold. A game that gets something as commendable as a 7 out of 10 is often viewed as a pretty bad game, where, in any other game, this kind of rating would be pretty impressive, although it should be borne in mind that review copies are not console versions of the game....

It's important to keep in mind that a lot of people have worked really hard to bring this game to life and fans should read as many reviews as possible before making a purchase decision.

Cyberpunk 2077 will be available on December 10 for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X / S versions currently in development.
