Cyberpunk 2077: Weapon / Armor Mods - How Do I Replace Them?

On this page of the Cyberpunk 2077 Guide,   you will find information on  how to install and replace mods for weapons, armor / equipment . We also inform you on what conditions the installed mods are replaced with others.

The most important information is that  you cannot install the mod on all your weapons and armor items . This is only allowed for items with  free slots , that is, with  free  mod slots . An example of a weapon with free mod slots is shown in the picture above.

Mod slots function independently of the attachment installed on the weapon - scopes or barrels. Add-ons can be replaced with others without any restrictions.

Most of all in the game world you can find mods  - look for them in various containers and search the bodies of defeated opponents.

Some of the weapons and armor found in the game may already have some mods installed. In such a situation, you can opt out or continue using them.

Alternatively, you can  create crafting based mods  and  buy them from merchants,  or in the latter case, try visiting an appropriate NPC like a clothing merchant if you want to buy armor mods.

Mods have the same quality classes as weapons and armor , so Rare (Blue), Epic (Purple), and Legendary (Gold) Mods are the most valuable.

Stat bonuses guaranteed by mods are automatically added to the item description. By highlighting an item, you can view a list of offered stat bonuses. If some of the bonuses are identical (for example, bonus to the amount of armor points), they will be automatically added.

Unfortunately, you cannot freely replace installed mods  or uninstall  mods that you don't want to keep using. Removing a mod from a slot destroys it . This can be especially frustrating if you've installed a rare valuable mod on an item.

You can limit this problem by installing the most valuable mods on the items you think you will use for the longest. We are talking, in particular, about the cult and legendary weapons and costumes. These item types already have excellent early stats and you can try to improve them further, relying on crafting to expand their usefulness.
