RELL: GUIDE TO BUILDS, RUNES AND GAMEPLAY OF THE NEW LEAGUE OF LEGENDS CHAMPION


Rell was recently unveiled, but it is already online on the PBE, the League of Legends test server . It will arrive on the main platform with patch 10.25 and will officially be the last champion of the year. We have already talked to you about his skills in an article, but now we will summarize them briefly, and then deepen the discussion.


PASSIVE - BREAKING THE MOLD

Rell attacks very slowly (because otherwise, you could play anywhere), but temporarily steals a portion of the target's armor and magic resist to deal bonus damage based on the amount stolen. Additionally, Rell can steal the resistances of various different enemies and become extremely resilient.


Q - SHATTERING STRIKE

Rell sinks a hit with his spear, breaking all shields and damaging enemies hit (damage decreases after first target). If Rell is bound to an ally with E - Attract and Repel , both regain health for each champion hit by this ability.


W (FIRST PART) - FERROMANCY: CRASH

(Can only be thrown when mounted) Rell leaps into the air and transforms his mount into heavy armor, gaining a huge shield that lasts until destroyed or until he climbs back into the saddle. When she lands, she blows up all enemies around her. During the transformation, Rell can cast E - Lure and Repel and R - Magnetic Storm . 


While in armored form, Rell's stamina is increased, while his movement speed is reduced and he is capped. After transformation, this ability becomes Ironomancy: Riding . 


W (SECOND PART) - FERROMANCY: IN THE SADDLE

(Can only be cast when in armored form) Rell dashes forward and transforms his armor into a mount , gaining a burst of movement speed. During his next attack he charges the target, deals bonus damage, and throws it behind him.


Rell 's movement speed is increased while mounted. After the transformation, this ability becomes Ferromancy: Smash . 


E - ATTRACT AND REPEL

Rell magnetically binds a piece of his armor to a target allied champion, granting him bonus armor and magic resist when near . Rell can re- cast this ability to break the bond and stun all enemies around and between her and the bonded ally.


R - MAGNETIC STORM

Rell unleashes his magnetic fury, pulling nearby enemies towards him. At this point, it creates a gravitational field around itself, drawing enemies nearby for a few seconds . The field does not interrupt the other actions of the enemies.


RELL: RECOMMENDED RUNES

We have thoroughly researched the new champion on the PBE and, barring major changes in the new season, we have prepared some sets of runes and items to recommend. Let's start with the first ones.


First of all, as obvious for a support capable of immobilizing, the main rune will be Aftershock , and then continue with Demolish , Conditioning and Unflinching . In this way, throughout the game you will go to earn those statistics that are important to you: armor, resistance, tenacity and so on. This way you can opt for different build types. As for the second branch, you will choose, at least initially to become familiar with Rell , Sorcery and then Manaflow Band and Transcendence .


Warning! They are not bad runes, as they will allow you to increase hability haste and mana naturally - things the champion sins of - so if you are comfortable with them, you can continue to use them even in the later levels. Alternatively, when you fully understand the champion, and therefore know how to juggle his mana (which you can increase through the items anyway), we recommend a second more aggressive branch . You will then choose Domination and then Cheap shot and Zombie Wards .


For the minor branches, always choose Hability Haste as the first and then armor and magic resist.


OUR FAVORITE ITEMS ON RELL

This is definitely tank season, thanks to the strong mythic items added to the game. However, many in botlane make a mistake, choosing damage rather than utility. On Rell , we definitely recommend the Medaglione dei Solari . In addition, the Knight's Vow is mandatory, which will give you a lot of extra life and a great capacity for regeneration. Optionally, then, you can opt for the Zeke or more situational objects, depending on how much advantage you are or what you may need. We definitely recommend the Dead Man's Armor, the Spined Armor, Force of Nature or the Randuin.


GAMEPLAY GUIDE

There's a big debate about Rell, the only small problem is deciding which skill to max out first. The kit is so ingenious that it can be exploited in totally different ways. Raising E for stuns and heals? Do that with the Q to be able to break shields more frequently? Or the W, for overhangs and augmented armor?


This is the dilemma. The truth is that it is so versatile that you will decide during the game, based on the advantage you have taken and what you need. Sure, we recommend starting with W, for its dual essence, but if you want damage, it's the Q you have to choose. Be very careful before level 3: you cannot afford any trades yet . After level 6, however, you have all the freedom you want, but be careful.


The difficulty of this champion, in fact, is that his kit will allow you a total all-in, but with little escape . This is because, depending on the W you have during the fight, you may have little mobility and, at least initially, the cooldowns are quite prohibitive. So, make sure you are really ready before entering combat.


As for the combos, as already mentioned it is about making total all-ins. Your only small trade option is Q, which allows you to attack and do damage even if from not too far away. We recommend that you use the W and E together frequently to ensure an extremely strong engagement. Next, try to use the Qs in a distributed way : it is in fact very important to remove the shields and decrease the resistance to as many enemies as possible. This is for several reasons: first, you will make them weaker for your adcarry , which will be free to do damage. With mythic items, opposing adcarries may have shields or resistances that only you can break through Rell. In addition, Q no longer gives you resistance if you use it on a single enemy, while it can make you potentially immortal if you hit all enemies.


WHO TO WATCH OUT FOR?

Finally, let's talk a little about the best allies to play Rell with . Of course, it is necessary to have major damage in botlane. Samira is perfect, because her area ultimate, mixed with yours, will allow her to kill any enemy in a few moves. Alternatively, we recommend Aphelios (which could become viable thanks to Rell ), Ezreal , Jinx and Jhin . With them, through their strengths, you will ensure an unstoppable botlane. 


At the same time, watch out for long-range adcs like Caitlyn , Jhin , Miss Fortune and Twitch, and support like Lux and Brand . In the first levels, in fact, they could cause you a lot of damage, making it impossible for you to engage.
