Square Enix teases Final Fantasy XVI, XIV and more announcements in 2021


 Various Square Enix developers have shared their plans for 2021 in a large group interview on Famitsu .


Final Fantasy XIV and XVI producer Naoki Yoshida explained that he expects 2021 to be the busiest year of his career, hinting at various announcements for both games.


We already know that Square Enix will be holding a big event in February when a new expansion for Final Fantasy XIV is likely to be unveiled.


Final Fantasy VII Remake producer Yoshinori Kitase explained that a second game is under development, but we should wait for more details. He did not give specific hints on when we can expect these details to be revealed, but he said he will be participating in the series in 2021 and beyond.


NieR series producer Yosuke Saito mentioned that the franchise will last a little longer, mentioning Re [in] carnation and Replicant ver.1.22474487139…. He also mentioned Babylon's Fall , but did not mention any further disclosure dates.


Bravely Default II producer Tomoya Asano said he hopes the game will be successful and move on to the next game after that.


Producer Masashi Takahashi (who also worked on Octopath Traveler) also added that progress has been made in other games in parallel.


Dragon Quest series producer Noriyoshi Fujimoto said he would like to announce something for the 35th anniversary of the franchise in 2021.


SaGa series director Akitoshi Kawazu mentioned that his next game is still a secret.
