WoW: So you open the darned chests in Torghast

The treasure chests in Torghast, the endgame feature of WoW: Shadowlands , are tricky. We'll show you how to open it.

The Torghast tower is one of the great features of World of Warcraft Shadowlands. Here all characters can play a little crazy and improve themselves with absurdly powerful anima powers just to plow through the servants of the jailer. Still, Torghast is not always easy. Aside from crisp boss fights, there are also a few small puzzles to solve.

The various chests in particular pose problems for players that otherwise have less to do with such puzzles. Annoying, after all, there is a new anima power slumbering in every chest for the whole group, which could decide whether to win or lose the final boss.

There are three different types of chests in the tower:

  • Chests with keys
  • Chests with levers
  • Chests with colored runes

We reveal how you can open all three chests.

This is how you open chests with keys: If you discover a chest and see neither lever nor rune in front of it, then it is a key chest. This is secured by three locks. You can find the keys for it all over the level. The blue keys are quite small and easy to miss, but are shown on the minimap when you are near them. Every time you find a key, you will get a message that a lock has opened on the level.

Do you have all 3 keys, then return to the chest and get your anima power.

Crates with levers are simple - there are only 16 options.

How to open the chests with levers: Other chests have four large levers in front of them. Here you simply have to find out by trial and error which combination opens the lock. But don't worry - there aren't that many combinations. Since each lever can only have 2 states, there are a total of 16 possible combinations with 4 levers. Just go through all of the combinations in order to be sure. A 1 means the lever is pointing up, a 0 means the lever is pointing down.

These are all combinations, one of them has to be right.

How to open chests with colored runes: These chests are the most complicated for many players. All 4 runes must have a certain, randomly selected color in order to open their respective lock. However, it doesn't help to simply click on all combinations as with the locks, because most runes not only change their own color when you click, but also the color of other runes at the same time!

These boxes are not as heavy as they look either.

But here too there is a simple trick with which you can quickly decrypt the lock.

Click on the runes one after the other and watch how many runes change with one click:

  • There is a rune that changes the color of all 4 runes.
  • There is a rune that changes the color of 3 runes.
  • There is a rune that changes the color of 2 runes.
  • There is a rune that only changes its own color.

Make a note of which rune changes how many colors and then proceed as follows:

  • Click on the rune that changes all 4 runes. As soon as the lock disappears behind this rune, leave it alone.
  • Click on the rune that changes 3 runes. As soon as the lock disappears behind this rune, leave it alone.
  • Click on the rune that changes 2 runes. Leave her alone as soon as the lock disappears directly behind her.
  • Click on the last rune, which only changes itself until the last lock is open.

If you proceed with the boxes in the manner described above, you should be able to open them within a few seconds and bag an additional anima power!

Did you have problems picking the locks? Or has it always been child's play for you so far?
