How to use GOG to host games from other platforms


 GOG Galaxy - Introduction

For some time, many video game companies have been offering us their own platform to buy, download and run their own video games, with how calm we were with Steam ... Then GOG found the solution to host all the games we have purchased, even if they are from other platforms, on their own, so we will have a single space to host all the games, or most of them.


GOG Galaxy belongs to CD Projekt , of Polish origin and famous for the development of Cyberpunk 2077 , and for The Witcher saga, of which they announced that there will be a fourth installment of the saga. Thanks to their income, they launched the GOG gaming platform that not only houses their own games, as others do, in 2008 such as Good Old Games, dedicating themselves to the sale of classic video games.


It was this past 2019 when GOG was updated with a great novelty , being able to have all the games and friends in one place. To be able to use these features, it is necessary to have version 2.0 of GOG . A single library for all your platforms, a great solution for not having your desktop full of "launcher" icons.


Install and use GOG Galaxy to host games from other platforms

Let's see then how to download, if you don't have it already installed, and connect all the platforms available in GOG Galaxy

  1. If we don't have it, we download GOG Galaxy 2.0 from its website is also available for macOS. If we already have GOG Galaxy installed, we check that it is up to date and move on to the next step.
  2. If we have just installed it, we change the language to what we want, since by default it is installed in English. We click on the gear wheel, “ Settings ” -> “ General ” and in “ Language ” we select any language you want from the drop-down.
  3. Now that we have our GOG Galaxy 2.0 client in our language, click on + Add games and friends and Connect platforms , and if we do not have it selected, click on Integrations and there we will have available all the platforms with which we can connect GOG Galaxy 2.0 and integrate your games, and in some cases, friends.
  4. We are clicking on Connect of the different accounts we have, and we must enter the username and password. With each platform we will have certain characteristics of the platform that we can enjoy in GOG Galaxy.

How to get Xbox Live games into GOG Galaxy

We click connect in the Xbox Live section . If we connect with Xbox Live, we will have the following functions available within the GOG Galaxy client. Regarding the Games we will have:

  • Collection
  • Installation and startup
  • Achievements
  • Play times

To manage Friends:

  • Friends list
  • Recommendations from friends.

But we will not have chat at the moment.

When clicking on connect, it will take us to the Microsoft authentication page to enter the username and password. Once entered and these are correct, it will appear as Connected and will import the data.


How to get games from the Epic Games Store to GOG Galaxy

Similarly, we click Connect in the Epic Games Store , this time we will have the following functions in Games:

  • Collection
  • Installation and startup
  • Play times

For the management of Friends:

  • Recommendations from friends
No possibility to see the list of friends or chat, a feature that at the moment seems somewhat limited.

We click on connect again in the pop-up window and we will enter the username or email and password, from the Epic Games Store, if we have linked our account to Facebook, Google, PlayStation Network, Xbox Live or a Nintendo Account , we can access making use of this.

How to get Origin games into GOG Galaxy

We connect with Origin and it asks us for credentials to be able to enjoy the following advantages over games:

  • Collection
  • Installation and startup
  • Achievements
  • Game time
  • Import of tags and hidden games

Regarding Friends:

  • Recommendations from friends
It will be the only feature available, leaving us without a friend list.


Origin, like the rest, will ask us for the email and the access password, having to verify the access to the account by code . Once finished, we will have the platform games in the GOG Galaxy client.

How to view PlayStation Network game information on GOG Galaxy

We don't make much sense of this platform at GOG, but we can log into PlayStation Network and we'll have:

  • Collection
  • Achievements

Regarding the games, and to manage Friends:

  • Friends list
  • Recommendations from friends

As expected we cannot install or launch PlayStation Network games from the PC . To connect we enter the credentials and the data will be imported automatically.


How to get Steam games into GOG Galaxy

With Steam we will have almost all the functions available, for games:

  • Collection
  • Installation and startup
  • Achievements
  • Game time
  • Import of tags and hidden games

Regarding the management of Friends:

  • Friends list
  • Recommendations from friends

Pending to introduce the chat so that you can fully enjoy all the functions.

When entering the Steam username and password, it will ask us for the verification called Steam Guard code , according to what we have configured, we received the email, and once entered, it will import the data and we will be connected with the Steam account.


How to get Uplay games into GOG Galaxy

We still have to connect Uplay of all the available ones. This time we will have the following functions in Uplay games:

  • Collection
  • Installation and startup
  • Game time
  • Import of tags and hidden games

For Friends we will have:

  • Recommendations from friends

No possibility of chat or having a list of friends.

After entering the login email and password, we will connect our Uplay account to enjoy your list of games, even install them, from GOG Galaxy.

We already have all the platforms connected to GOG Galaxy with the possibility, in most of them, to install the games and run them from only this platform. It only remains that, although it is still in the beta phase, little by little they will add more features to existing platforms, such as the incorporation of chat , and add some other platforms that, although to a lesser extent, also have their place in this world of video games, we are talking about Battle.net, Amazon Games, Bethesda.net or Rockstar Games Launcher.
