A new version of Killzone for PS5 has become less likely as Sony and Guerrilla Games have taken down the official Killzone website.
Fans have long hoped for a new installment of the series after 2013 's Killzone Shadow Fall . After releasing the game as a launch title for PS4, developer Guerrilla Games has begun work on Horizon: Zero Dawn and is currently actively working on its sequel, Horizon Forbidden West, for PS5 and PS4. However, with the release of the next-gen Sony console, fans of the series have been secretly hoping to get a new part of the popular shooter. While it's not entirely ruled out yet, the shutdown of the Killzone website this weekend doesn't bode well for the franchise's future. Visitors will now be redirected to the official PlayStation website.
"The official site of the KILLZONE franchise has retired, " read a post on the series' website. “Going forward, visitors to Killzone.com will be redirected to PlayStation.com. Thanks to the many fans and visitors of Killzone.com for their enthusiasm and support. "
This change will not directly affect the multiplayer modes and statistics of Killzone Mercenary and Shadow Fall, but players will no longer be able to create and manage clans in Shadow Fall.
Below is the official trailer for Shadow Fall, which was released in 2013.
