Valve Source 2 engine to get ray tracing support?

Valve's Source 2 engine ( Source 2 wiki ) could potentially get RTX / ray tracing support if a recent rumor is confirmed. Twitter user Pavel Dzhundik (@thexpaw) noticed that the latest beta of the card game Artifact received the "Raytracing Shader" and "RTX" strings archived to GitHub.

While there is no additional evidence to prove that ray tracing is actually a part of the engine, this idea alone is enough to keep fans interested. For reference, games like Half-Life Alyx, Dota 2, DOTA Underlords, and Artifact all run on the Source 2 engine. Artifact, a relatively simple game in terms of graphics, could be the perfect testing ground for the new ray tracing feature.

There is no official information on this or any hints from Valve, but, nevertheless, it remains an interesting prospect.

In the meantime, we are waiting for some news from Valve, you still have enough time to try out Half-Life: Alyx. This is the latest game in the Half-Life series to date. It is possible that on Alyx, developers tested new technologies that will be used in the potential Half-Life 3.
