Biomes in Valheim - how to find mountains, black forest, meadows, plains, swamps

In Game Valheim has several different types of terrain - biomes. Each of them can contain special resources and inhabited by certain opponents. For example, in the black forest there are the most different types of wood, including high-quality ones, as well as deposits of metals. In the swamps, you can get iron, and in the meadows there are always a lot of stones and branches. That is why it is worth knowing where and how to look for biomes in order to more efficiently extract resources.

Biomes in Valheim

Each individual player has a randomly generated map, and you have to explore it, so at first you will not have a complete map of your world at hand. However, as you explore the land, you will learn what a mountain or plain looks like on the map. The minimap in the upper right corner will always indicate which biome you are in. If you expand the map and move the cursor over any part of the terrain, the name of the biome will appear in the upper right corner. In our guide, we will show you how the biomes look on the explored map.

Meadows

Every time you start the game in this biome, it is the safest one. On the map, the meadows look like empty areas between forests and are colored light green. The meadows are covered with grass, shrubs, oaks, birches, beeches and spruces grow on them.

Black forest

On the map, the black forest is similar to other forests, so you need to keep track of which forest you enter. There are many resources in the black forest, but at the same time it is overflowing with evil spirits that can attack from any direction. It looks like a coniferous forest with many spruces and pines. The black forest is very hilly and is characterized by an abundance of boulders, from which tin and copper can be mined. This biome is inhabited by Skeletons, Greydwarfs and Trolls.

Ocean

In general, the ocean is any large body of water. It is quite easy to get to the ocean, as the land consists of many small islands washed by the ocean. It is better to navigate the ocean only on rafts or ships, as swimming quickly takes away stamina. In addition, you can easily be attacked by the inhabitants of the oceans - huge snakes (Serpent).
