Resident Evil Village reveals who inspired Lady Dimitrescu

Hardly anyone would argue with the claim that Lady Dimitrescu from Resident Evil Village has become one of the main Internet memes of recent times. Not so long ago, the developers told what images inspired them to create such a bright villain.

According to the game's art director Tomonori Takano, the image of Dimitrescu and her daughters is based on Gothic literature, but the authors did not limit themselves to scary castles.

In the early planning stages, we decided to use castle and vampire motifs. However, we did not want to limit ourselves to how vampires are portrayed in various works of popular culture.

If the appearance of the daughters of the vampire is obviously inspired by the mistresses of Dracula, then with the biggest lady everything is not so simple. Takano admitted that Dimitrescu is a collective character that is inspired by: Morticia Adams played by Anjelica Huston, Hungarian noblewoman and serial killer Elizabeth Bathory and Japanese urban legend about Hassaku-sama.
