E3 2021 online event appears to have been canceled

The documents for the upcoming meeting of the Tourism Development Council and the Los Angeles convention (found users online Resetera ) the E3 listed as "Canceled online event in 2021". At the same time, it is indicated that "work is underway on a license for 2022 and 2023."

E3 2021 online event appears to have been canceled

E3 2020 was canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and while the ESA (Entertainment Software Association) was looking for ways to replace the event with an "online conference," in the end, nothing came of it. Earlier this year, ESA stated , "We are transforming the E3 experience for 2021 and will soon share precise details on how we bring the global video game community together."

There were no official statements from ESA regarding the cancellation of E3 2021, so the exhibition may still take place this year. Perhaps the event will take place in empty conference rooms (no audience). However, even before the pandemic, Sony left E3 to host its own event, and thanks to 2020, companies like Ubisoft and Bethesda now have the experience of hosting their own demo events.

The Tourism Conventions and Development Council document notes that they are “working on a license for 2022 and 2023,” but chances are that if things don't work out this year, we just won't see E3 return.
