One of the fans of the Assassin's Creed series is fed up with microtransactions present in recent games, so he decided to prepare a petition urging Ubisoft to remove the Helix Store from the next installments of the AC series. At the time of writing, the document has been signed by over 700 people.
After the recent premiere of AC Valhalla, it's hard not to feel that the brand is being used as a tool for selling goods through a microtransaction system. The fact that the total purchase price of all the bundles in the Helix Store is higher than the price of the game itself is shameful (meaning the in-game store where you buy items with real money). I would also like to add that if you bought the Season Pass, it does not give you access to any of the items available in the store with Helix Credits, only 2 DLCs that will be released.
The player also points out that only nine sets of armor can be found in the base game, and more are sold in the Helix store - usually these are so-called skin changes to existing models (i.e. items that look the same, but with changed colors or minor details )
I also want to emphasize that there were only 9 sets of armor in the base game. As far as I remember, they also added the Saint Gregory set, but I don't count it because it is a reworked Thane armor skin. Ubisoft regularly updates the store with additional armor sets and demands an absurd amount of money for them. Not only do they want so much for these items, they are also reworking gear from the base game.
The author of the petition admits that he has no serious illusions about whether it will be effective, but he wants to see how many players agree with his point of view. In his opinion, the best way to solve the problem would be to remove the entire Helix store from the next Assassin's Creed game.
My solution would be to remove the helix store and microtransactions altogether and focus on creating in-game challenges and free content so people can stay involved and keep playing. I personally finished AC Valhalla, knocked out a platinum trophy and then deleted the game. “I have no reason to come back and play again,” said the author of the petition.
We remind you that the latest part of the AC series is Assassin's Creed: Valhalla, which debuted on November 10 last year and is available on PC and consoles PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X / S.
