Hironobu Sakaguchi, creator of Final Fantasy, anticipates that Fantasian could also be his last game
As much as it hurts to say goodbye, Sakaguchi also hints that after making Fantasian he would finally quit making games.
Would Fantasian be Hironobu Sakaguchi's final project ? The manager has been talking to VGC about it, although it is a topic that he also addressed around the composer Nobuo Uematsu . Whoever was the founder of Mistwalker , now 58 years old has other jobs behind him such as Chrono Trigger and Kingdom Hearts , he tells the medium that he has worked on Fantasian as if it were his last project.
As if that were not enough, he has suggested that the plans after the game are yet to be seen : " I think this may be my last project, " he told VGC, " and that was haunting my mind while we developed it ." In addition, he added later: " We are creating the final touches of part 2 of Fantasian and everything is starting to calm down, I would say yes ."
Fantasian will be available on Apple Arcade as an RPG set in more than 150 handmade dioramas, mixing physical environments and 3D characters. During his 2 decades at Square, Sakaguchi conceived his first Final Fantasy and directed its 5 subsequent games, continuing as a screenwriter and producer on subsequent installments, but in 2004 he left it to form his own independent studio.
"To be honest, I have not thought much about the new steps of the study or where to go, I think I could use the vacation time between now and what we do next. So we will see what happens, remains to be seen ."
Mistwalker was composed thanks to the support of Xbox , where he created two exclusive RPGs: Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey ; since The Last Story on Wii , they have focused on mobile games.
Earlier this month, Sakaguchi said the same about Nobuo Uematsu , who after Fantasian would retire from composing soundtracks due to health problems. Uematsu also composed music for Chrono Trigger, Lost Odyssey, and The Last Story , but would now be composing individual tracks, as he did in Final Fantasy VII Remake.
It's a shame, but everything that begins is designed to end . And in this case, people's careers, no matter how prolific, have a deadline.
