What will the episode limit be for The Simpsons? After reaching 700 episodes, Al Jean talks about the possibilities of reaching 1,000 episodes.
Last Sunday The Simpsons reached a new milestone when it reached 700 episodes aired . The series created by Matt Groening began its journey in December 1989 after the success of the yellow family shorts that aired on The Tracey Ullman Show. Since then, 32 seasons of The Simpsons have seen the light of day, and the series continues to garner huge audience figures, especially in the United States.
Speaking with Variety , Al Jean spoke about one of the topics that has been heard the most among the fandom these days when talking about The Simpsons: Will the series reach 1,000 episodes before ending? The trajectory would seem to indicate yes, but Al Jean is cautious.
"We would need another 12 years to reach 1,000 episodes," Al Jean said during the interview. "At the moment, the only thing that is certain is that we will reach 757 episodes in 2023." The producer alludes to the recent renewal of the series for two seasons, which will take it until season 34.
Al Jean, who has been working on The Simpsons for 30 years, has commented that he does not believe that the series would be inactive for long if it is canceled. "Currently we are seeing reboots of all kinds, even in animation with series like Beavis and Butt-Head . They will surely reboot us as soon as they cancel us." The producer has also appreciated the support they have always had from Fox and now from Disney, which continues to show that it wants to have the yellow family on its Disney Plus platform.
What do you think? Will The Simpsons reach 1,000 episodes?
