Suspended account on WhatsApp? Avoid running out of it

Although we use WhatsApp every day and hourly, we are not aware of the risks that the messaging application entails or of how to behave in it. We believe that everything is allowed, but it is not and it is possible that WhatsApp will punish you by blocking your account for any improper use. If you have a suspended account in WhatsApp , we analyze what the reasons may be, how you can solve it or how you can prevent this from happening again on the platform.

First of all, you may have a suspended WhatsApp account permanently or only temporarily. In each case you will see a different message.

Suspended phone number

If you see the message “Your phone number is suspended on WhatsApp. Contact Support for help ”is because the application has detected that you have violated the terms of service. You can review these WhatsApp Terms of Service to find out what you were able to do or what the reasons may be. If you do not understand the reason for the suspension, you can contact WhatsApp via email and they promise to review the cases to find out what happened.

To try to activate our account again, we must send an email message to the WhatsApp support address . In this email you must explain the situation and argue why you think the ban was an error, as well as request the reactivation of the account if they consider it appropriate from the platform. Once the email is sent, all you have to do is have faith and wait for a response.

There are many reasons why you can be suspended on WhatsApp and it is important that you take this into account to avoid it before it is too late.

Why can they suspend you on WhatsApp?

The messaging application itself makes it very clear in its terms and conditions that doing a series of things can lead to disabling and we will not be able to use the chat service or create another account without your permission. There are things that are prohibited and that would mean the "expulsion" of the app.

Reasons for suspending you on WhatsApp are:

  • Automatic, massive or unwanted messages that have been programmed or not. Do not try to contact users who do not want you to talk to them, do not create groups without authorization or use modified versions of WhatsApp that you have downloaded.
  • Abuse of broadcast lists that annoy others. If the application receives several reports from your account and complaints from other users about this practice, it will block you.
  • Using lists of contacts that you do not know and that you have obtained from illicit sources, buying data or phone numbers from someone and using them to spam or try to sell something.
  • Violation of the WhatsApp Terms of Service . For example, sharing in conversations all kinds of material that incites hatred, racist material, threatening, intimidating content ...

Account temporarily suspended

In the event that the suspension is temporary, you will see a different message informing you that your account has been “temporarily suspended” along with a timer that tells you how much time you have left until you can use your chats again. In this second case, the reason for the suspension is usually having used unofficial applications such as WhatsApp Plus or GB WhatsApp, for example. It is important that you return to the official version as soon as possible so that you do not get suspended forever.

How to switch to the official version of WhatsApp

If you have a temporarily suspended WhatsApp account, leave the third-party app and switch to the official version to make sure you can continue using your chats. Make a backup of your conversations, uninstall the app you are using and use WhatsApp.

In GB WhatsApp

In the case of GB WhatsApp, before switching to the official version, save and transfer the chat history so as not to lose them during the process. Do it once the temporary suspension ends (you will see a stopwatch on the screen)

  • Go to GB WhatsApp
  • Tap on the More options option and on Chats
  • Go to Backup
  • Go to phone settings
  • Tap on storage
  • Choose the files option
  • Find the GB WhatsApp folder and select it
  • Click on "More" and Rename
  • Change name to "WhatsApp"
  • Go to Google Play Store
  • Install the official WhatsApp app
  • Restore available backup

On WhatsApp Plus

If the application you have is WhatsApp plus instead of GB WhatsApp, the chat history is automatically transferred to the official version of the service without you doing anything. Simply download WhatsApp from the Google Play Store, verify your number and restore the backup that will appear available to you. You will use your account normally again and the ban will be over as long as you use the official version.

Responsible use of WhatsApp

To prevent your account from being permanently blocked, the messaging application has a “responsible use” guide in which it explains how to use the platform without violating its terms of service and without disturbing others. These are some of the best tips to avoid having a suspended account on WhatsApp:

  • Get permission from people and only contact those who have given you their phone number or asked you to speak to them. According to WhatsApp, it is better to give your number to someone to write to you. And if you are the one who is going to write, do it in a respectful way and explaining who you are, what you want or where you got the mobile phone from.
  • Use the group controls to keep calm in all those in which you are an administrator. WhatsApp group administrators can choose who sends messages and thus avoid unwanted content in chats.
  • Do not forward confidential information or content
  • Respect people's decisions and don't insist if they don't want you to message them. Also, do not add other users to groups if they have not asked to be added or do not want to be in the group.

Reactivate suspended WhatsApp account by mistake

It may happen that our WhatsApp account has been suspended by mistake. As we have just seen, this suspension may be temporary, however, during that period of time we will not appear in the agenda of our contacts and chats of our friends.

Now, if WhatsApp has banned us by mistake, it is possible to contact the company to request that our account be reactivated. In this case, what we must do is send an email explaining the situation to the email address support@whatsapp.com and arguing well our defense.

Those of Mark Zuckerberg will study our case and if finally the suspension of our account has been by mistake, we will proceed with the reactivation of this. If, on the contrary, the company considers that the suspension of the account is justified, it will maintain its blocking.

Alternatives to WhatsApp

If you have not been able to recover your WhatsApp account or if you simply do not want to continue using the service, you can choose to use another instant messaging application from the many on the market. Among the safest and most complete that exist, we recommend the following:

  • Telegram : undoubtedly the most complete instant messaging application that you can find among all the available offer. It offers end-to-end encryption and the ability to organize chats by folders.
  • Signal: the most secure messaging app that exists, since all messages are encrypted so that they can only be read by the sender and the recipient.
  • Threema : this app can also boast security. In addition to all the features available in most messaging apps, Threema offers end-to-end encryption for all types of messages, even the messages you put in your status (similar to WhatsApp).
  • Facebook Messenger: the Facebook messages application has all the options included in an app of its kind, although with some of its own additions such as the option to play mini-games with your contacts.
  • LINE : obviously all messaging programs are very similar, but then each one offers its own little peculiarities, as with LINE. For example, it allows us to conduct surveys in chats, we can make massive video calls of up to 200 people at the same time, to give you two examples. After the design we can consider it as similar, although it is true that it is more successful in the matter of stickers, something in which WhatsApp still has to go a long way.
  • WeChat : in this app we have Stories where we can put what we want and disappear 24 hours a day, that is, as it happens on Instagram. But he also shares with WhatsApp that we can put Status in addition to achieving conversations with more than 500 participants. The big difference with the Facebook application is that in WeChat we have games and we can have a good time, while that addition is not found in WhatsApp, nor do we believe that it will arrive in the short or medium term. Another thing that this application has is that users can share payments, that is, we could send money to a friend or family member using WeChat. It is something that in the future is expected to reach WhatsApp, but right now it does not have it implemented and it is not expected to arrive precisely soon.
