Valheim has already spoken about what new content will appear with the upcoming updates. One of these items is a new area: the Mistlands biome. And this area could be really gross for a lot of gamers.
What kind of area is that? The Fog Lands are a gloomy forest with huge, ancient trees. You can often find the biome - depending on the seed - on coasts and near swamps or dark forests.
It's always night in the foggy countries, so you always have the "cold" debuff, which reduces your stamina and life regeneration. Anyone who wants to can see the biome now. On the map it looks like a dark forest with an even darker texture.
Why is it getting gross? So far it is not entirely clear what kind of content will appear in the foggy countries. We only know for sure that a new boss is waiting for you there. However, there are already some clues that indicate what to expect there:
- it's always dark, almost like in a cave
- webs and nets can be found everywhere, but they are currently empty
- "Ancient roots" run through the area and apparently become the special resource
- huge trees with thick trunks tower high but have no leaves
- Skulls too big even for a troll
All of this leads players to suspect that the Mistlands will become a forest full of giant spiders - and possibly even the boss will become such a spider. The partially tubular nets could accommodate eight-legged people who are larger than the Vikings themselves. In our gallery we have increased the brightness a little, because otherwise hardly anything can be seen:

New content for Valheim
When do the misty lands appear? So far there is no specific date for the fog lands. The developers have only listed it as "Update 4" in their roadmap for 2021 (via
Steam ).
Before that, there will probably be three other updates for which there is also no specific date. Since Valheim was originally developed by just five people and the success was a bit unexpected, it's hard to say when the updates will come.
What's next? The next big update is "Hearth and Home", about which a little more is already known (via
PCGamer ). The update focuses primarily on content for construction and crafting and brings, for example:
- new recipes for cooking, so that there could be new best foods
- possibly new stations to cooking
- new components for the bases to build even better structures
After Hearth and Home there are Cult of the Wolf, Ships and the Sea and finally the Nebellands. In addition, the developers are working on new areas and improved systems. First, however, errors should be corrected.
