Detailed walkthrough guide for all Outriders storyline and side quests, boss fight tactics and strategy, and much more
The material is supplemented
Create your character, and then watch the video with the moment of landing on the planet Enoch. Your key task in Outriders is to confirm the fact that this planet is suitable for further colonization of the human race. It is not yet possible to choose a playable class, so figure out the controls and follow Captain Tanner. On the way, you will have to climb through several fallen trees, and soon you will find yourself on an open plateau, where an advanced scout camp will be set up.
Prologue
A huge beast will run by, but don't worry about it for now. Find a blue flag hologram and then plant it to set up your camp. After the camp is set up, you can look around, but then go to Captain Tanner. Chat with him, and he will advise you to go to the gunsmith Yakub, who is ready to conduct a course of combat training for you.
Find a small hill on the other side of the camp and chat with Yakub. Choose a phrase about weapon training. Jakub will launch a special program with enemy holograms. Hide behind the nearest cover, wait for the hologram to turn on, and then look out from behind the bags and shoot your opponents. Use different weapons. Ignore tanks, focus on single targets and shoot in bursts. Do not worry, training simply cannot end in failure. When Yakub suggests, switch to pistols and try them out in action, and then return to using the rifle and finish off the final goals.
When the training is over, return to the camp and find a girl named Shira on the right. Chat with her on various topics, and at the end of the conversation, you will learn that you need to find the probe. After this conversation, an exit from the territory of the outpost will open on the side of Shira. Move across a large field where a herd of wild animals will run. Again, don't worry about them - it's too early to shoot! Walk past the small reservoir to the ledge on the opposite side. Here you will be taught how to move from one shelter to another. A very useful mechanic, especially in the heat of battle! Once you get to the probe, interact with it to collect the necessary data. You will be ordered to return to camp to go in search of the second probe. Move in the opposite direction to meet your squad.
Storm
After exploring the dense forest, everything will go upside down. You will be separated from the rest of the team. Your task is to find the second probe, which is hidden somewhere deep in the forest. Go down the path, move on and soon fall into the gorge. Here you are attacked by the first enemy - the same beast. Unlike the holograms you fired at earlier, this is quite a material enemy that can inflict damage. Dodge his attacks. This is important both in this battle and in subsequent clashes with people, especially those who use melee strikes or explosives (such as frag grenades).
The beast will pounce on you quite often, so get used to dodging. However, he will not inflict particularly serious injuries, and you can also heal out of combat (after a while, if the enemy does not hit you). Dodge, attack, dodge, and so on. As soon as you deal with the monster, go up to the other side and search the probe. But the storm is about to begin.
As soon as an abnormal storm breaks out, you will need to go back and get to the car. As you sprint, watch out for red rings that indicate points where lightning is about to strike. If you fall under it, take damage. And you cannot be healed here. Use dodges and sprints to dodge obstacles and lightning, cross trees, and so on. As soon as you get to the trucks, another cut-scene will start, and your character will be touched by an anomaly.
Back at camp, watch the video. Maxwell lost his mind, began to panic, and therefore ordered his fighters to attack the scouts. We'll have to deal with them. Hide behind the nearest cover and destroy the first enemy group. Look for a large green container nearby that contains your first loot, the Tanner Rifle. Equip this weapon through your inventory as it is much better than what is available by default. Some enemies will explode when using this weapon, touching their allies. You also have a shotgun that is great for close-range combat.
Keep going up the hill, killing enemies, and be careful as opponents will often throw grenades. The radius of their explosion is marked with a special ring right on the ground. Run away or quickly dodge to the side to avoid damage.
Advice . By the way, if you see an enemy preparing to throw a grenade in your direction, you can shoot at him, thereby interrupting the action. The grenade will fall right at his feet.
As soon as you find yourself at the end of the path, you will be attacked by Maxwell himself. He has much better armor than the bodyguards, so you need a little more power to take him down. Since it is impossible to heal, in no case do not get close to Maxwell, but instead attack from cover. Once he's closer, you can switch to the shotgun. When he falls to his knee, walk up to the enemy and interact with him to start a cut-scene.
Slaughterhouse
If you thought that you would have to colonize the planet, I hasten to disappoint - due to serious anomalous lesions, the bodies of the protagonist were forced to be immersed in cryo-sleep. And he woke up after a long time, when a real civil war began. You will wake up in a completely different place, at a completely different time. Watch a lengthy cut-scene during which you will be transported by truck. That very storm endowed your hero with superpowers, and now you will need to choose in which direction the character will develop. Please note that you cannot change the playable class. If you want to play for others, you have to start all over again!
Think carefully about your fighting style and make your choices (more in our separate class guide):
- Technomancer
- Necromancer
- Destroyer
- Trickster
It is important to emphasize that fighters of any class can restore health points right during the battle. This can be done by killing enemies in certain ways, which often depend on the chosen class (and the corresponding style). If you like to be in the thick of things, use dimensional weapons, pay attention to the Destroyer. You will not only be able to fight close, but you will also restore health points for each enemy that was killed at close range. And the Trickster is able to gain health points with the help of melee attacks, but at the same time he can teleport behind the backs of enemies. If the Destroyer is a "tank", then the Trickster is "a dodger, a hidden killer, an assassin). But Technomancer and Necromancer prefer to fight at a distance. Provide support to the team, heal allies or deal damage over time to multiple targets at once. Whatever you choose, you will be given a rusty pistol and sent to fight with opponents. The chosen class does not affect the plot in any way!
Move up to the trenches and shoot at opponents hiding on the hill. If anyone gets within reach, be sure to take advantage of the new abilities, since they all recharge quite quickly (they have a relatively small cooldown), and often allow you to turn the tide of the battle. But remember to use more standard defensive methods when snuggling up to cover. Move slowly forward, but do not forget that aggressive actions are usually required for healing (read the description of healing for the selected class).
After reaching the top, kill all the shooters and find a chest with loot nearby. Inside it lies a sniper rifle, which is ideal for destroying the following targets. There will be even more shooters below, and they all keep to cover. Use your new rifle to shoot enemies when they look out of cover. Finish off the rest, search the corpses and you will find boots on one of them. You will automatically equip them as this is the first item for this slot. But in the future, you will have to change the equipment manually.
A little later, the shooters will be joined by marauders with shotguns, who each time will try to get close to your character in order to attack close. Be proactive and then move towards the trench line. To the left and right of the trench entrance, there are blue chests that contain ammunition. Restore ammo. The cartridges in these boxes are endless. After picking up ammunition, go to the central bunker between the trenches and look for a container with loot there, which contains a shotgun. It is perfect for fighting in such a confined space. You can crush opponents, use abilities, and then finish off the remaining targets with a shotgun.
A little further you will find more dangerous opponents using flamethrowers. However, the range of these flamethrowers is relatively small, so you can run back and attack them from a safe distance. For example, shoot with a sniper rifle. Don't forget about the abilities of the selected class. If you see that the enemy is ducking, pay attention to the scale. As soon as it is full, he will accelerate in your direction and try to ram the main character. be ready to dodge, and you can also use abilities labeled "Interrupt", allowing you to interrupt any such attacks (before the start of which the enemy fills the meter). After killing two flamethrowers, clear the trenches and go into the open field to complete the prologue and receive a well-deserved reward.
City-in-the-Gorge
Reunion
When the prologue ends, events will move to the first city in the game, City-in-the-Rift. The level of the world will periodically rise. This happens automatically, and for each new level you get a reward. The higher the level of the world, the more dangerous the opponents, but also the higher the probability of falling out of more valuable equipment. That is, if you wish, you can, of course, lower the level of the world, but it will cost you improved loot. The gameplay is built very well, the difficulty increases smoothly, giving you the opportunity to learn all the mechanics, train the character's abilities, and so on. Therefore, supernatural difficulties should not arise due to the rise in the level of the world.
Move to the indicated point to go to the Hounds warehouse. Please note that from now on you will be able to find books that reveal the lore of the game. Be sure to collect them. All interactive objects can be highlighted with the TAB key. Once in the warehouse, you will face opponents. They will attack in two waves. For the first time, regular arrows and armored targets will go. When you complete the battle, use the terminal, and then repeat the battle. This time, melee fighters will try to get closer to you, but you can kill them from a distance with a sniper rifle or use a shotgun. Repeat the steps. There are loot containers in the side rooms. Take her. There is such loot in every zone where you fight opponents. Especially when it comes to such enclosed spaces. After collecting all the things, go forward and use the marked door. After watching the cut-scene, find the icon that allows you to quickly return to a previously visited location. Select camp as your fast travel point. Find Shira and Yakub. Yes, yes, those from the prologue of the game.
Get to the Defense Perimeter, kill enemies and place the flag. On the right side you can find Audrey Storm, who can provide the Reckoning side quest. More lore data are lying nearby, and minerals can be found on the rocks. Interact with the latter as these resources will come in handy later on. After collecting iron, get to new opponents. Once you kill the latter, you can pick up the key that will open the door in front.
And after it you will have a battle with the first Alium. These opponents can use the same abilities as your hero, as they were also hit by the anomaly. Another Alium can be found during the Reckoning mission. Attack Technomancer, while not forgetting to deal with ordinary enemies, which are the source of health points.
At the end of this quest, you will face the first boss - Alium Gauss. This is a dangerous opponent, which is much tougher than the previously encountered aliums. He will attack you from an electric rifle. When you see him creating a wall, shoot at it. Also, be careful with electrical traps. Go around them, otherwise you will get a shock state and you will be temporarily immobilized. Never run through a place that is struck by electricity. Avoid being hit by ball lightning. They will move around the battlefield in an arbitrary direction.
Gauss's most dangerous attack is a thunderstorm. You will see three highlighted areas that will shock your hero. You need to run away from them until the scale above Gauss disappears. You can interrupt such attacks using the abilities of the main character. after defeating the enemy, collect the reward, and then go to the camp to report on the whole Shire. Chat with Yakub at the camp. Travel to the First City.
Ravine City side quests
The day did not go well
There are two side quests to take in Rift City. To get the current one, you should talk to the merchant. It is located near the camp. Go through the marked grate. This must be done after saving Yakub at the beginning of the "Reunion" quest. Walk down and destroy two enemy groups elsewhere. There will be no dangerous opponents, and containers with loot will appear on the sides, as always. Then use the door, and after the video, follow back to the merchant.
Pay
After you go to the Defense Perimeter and fight the first enemies, after planting the flag, turn right to find Audrey Storm. The girl will give out a side task, within which she will need to fight the first Alium. Defeat the first opponents, but watch out for the snipers who have settled in the distance. Kill them, search the loot container and go inside the building. Alium Pyromancer awaits you here. Don't forget about the different abilities that will interrupt enemy attacks and simplify the battle. It will be difficult without them. Shoot an enemy or attack with an interrupt ability whenever they are preparing for their Special Attack (the gauge above them fills up).
Unsteady ground
And this quest will become available after the completion of the "Reunion" mission, when you defeat the boss Gauss. Once you've done that, chat with Shira and head west from the Crossroads where the flag was planted (opposite the ruins with Audrey Storm). Cross the abyss, fight enemies. And one of them will be Alium. This is Captain Technomancer. Deal with all the enemies, and then take the reward from Shira.
Historian - Eternity (side quest)
This mission can be obtained after you complete most of the Reunion quest and, most importantly, defeat Alium at the Sun Tower. As soon as this happens, move to the point "Crossroads" and iditol to the right, to the bunker, where one of the side quests was performed. To the right of the girl lying on the floor will be a door marked with an "exclamation mark". Go through it.
As always, the location is divided into two parts. Two battles await you. On the way to the first battlefield, look for a place on the right wall for resource extraction. After winning the first battle, go to the left of the door indicated by the marker and look in the distance, around the corner, for a loot box. And when you win the second battle, look for another place at the beginning of the battlefield to get resources. Climb up to the marker, find a container with equipment on the right in the ruins, and a little further - a holographic disk. Take the item and return to the base, where you need to chat with Madame Beauvoir (located in the center of the City-in-the-Gorge). Select the reward you want.
Advice . For completing many tasks, you receive one of three items to choose from, each of which has a specific boost for your skills. Choose items that match the skills you are using, and try not to take two things for one slot (two helmets, two pairs of gloves or boots, and so on).
First city
Determination
From now on you can use the wheel marker pointing to Yakub. This is your driver who will allow you to move from one city to another at any time. It is also through Yakub that you can customize your car. Actually, try it out right now.
When you're ready, follow the marker, collecting loot along the way. Soon you will stumble upon the first rebel squad. Destroy all opponents in front of the bridge. As soon as you do this, if you have a minute, approach the bridge from the side of the location with the first opponents, go through the building on the left and find the descent under the bridge. The first container with equipment is located there. After that, go across the bridge and deal with other enemies. The Battleship will appear among them. Attacking this enemy head-on with a firearm is a futile exercise. Although, if you have some kind of machine gun with high armor penetration, you can give it a try.
Since my character is a Destroyer, I leaped at the enemy with Gravity Leap and then dealt devastating damage with Earthquake. Play around with the skills of the selected class. Surely there are skills to knock the Battleship off track. Almost all of the Aliums' skills (if not all) ignore armor. After the victory, look into the burnt-out building on the left and find another container with loot on the second floor.
Drive through the anomaly up the slope. Don't rush to go left. Go to the cliff and turn left to find a well-hidden container. Next there will be a battle. Take your time, kill the first enemies, after which another Alium Pyromancer will appear. Use interrupt skills to prevent the enemy from using your abilities. Do not forget - to reset the burning effect, you need to roll to CTRL once. After winning the battle, inspect the location. In the corner next to the ruins you came from, there is a hill with a container. And to the left of the gate that needs to be opened, you can find a new entry for the diary.
Activate the next checkpoint. Move forward along the path, there is a diary entry on the right, and on the left, behind the building, you can find a container with equipment. Climb up the slope and destroy the enemy group. The last enemy will drop a key, and inside one of the buildings you can find a diary entry.
Open the gate with the key you found and go through it. On the left, behind the rubble, you can find a diary entry. A little further there is a building that you can enter. Climb upstairs and go through the balcony to the adjacent room with a container in which equipment is hidden. And just below, to the right of the main path, there are iron deposits on the wall.
At the next location, you will have to fight with another Aluim Pyromancer, who will use a machine gun. Stay away from him and use normal enemies to heal (depending on the chosen class). After the victory, find a container with equipment on the right near the tower, then enter the building and watch the video.
The rescue
This quest is automatically activated after the cutscene at the end of the "Resolve" mission. Exit the building and take the cable car down to the city center. Activate the checkpoint "Alley" and replenish the ammunition. By the tree on the right there is a diary entry. If you go to the left, you can find ore, to the right - a container with equipment. Next, you will meet new monsters called Perforo. These are fairly easy opponents, they are poorly protected, but at the same time they attack in packs. However, you can benefit from the latter. For example, the Destroyer can destroy most Perforos at once using the Earthquake. Go across the street until a new goal appears - to clear the blockage. To the left of the rubble is the first diary entry. If you go even further to the left, on top, you can find a second entry for the diary.
On the following streets, Poisonous Perforos will join the usual monsters. Firstly, they are well protected and try to keep their distance (so ideally you should use a sniper rifle), and secondly, they throw poisonous orbs, which, logically, cause the "Poison" effect, causing damage to your character over time. Kill all opponents. Eventually, the Perforo leader will appear. This dangerous mutant is attacked mainly by swoop, so it is enough for you to dodge to the side in time. Use various abilities against him. Although firearms will be effective. After the victory, you will need to lower the bridge. There is ore at the beginning of this straight street, and also to the left and right of the passage to the bridge. The first diary entry can be found to the left of the bridge. On the right, there are steps leading upward. There is a second diary entry lying around, and there is also a container with equipment. Next to these steps there is a passage to the side of the location. There you will find another diary entry and another container with equipment.
Lower the bridge, go to the other side and activate the "Bridge" checkpoint. Go ahead and kill several groups of marauders. At the very end, Captain Alium will appear. He will create vortices, so try to stay away from them. Kill Alium while periodically dealing with common thugs to restore health. After winning, lift the load. And to the right of this device you can find a diary entry. It remains to inspect the container with the equipment, and then enter the garage and look under the driver's door of the marked truck. Watch the cut-scene. To complete the quest, talk to Yakub and tell him that it's time to go to Eagle Peaks. But before you do this, you can complete several side quests of the First City. If you wish, you can stop by the City-in-Gorge on the way to visit the merchants.
Side quests of the First City
Inspirational Historian (Side Quest)
When you go to find Zahedi in the First City, look for a side quest marker near the "Footbridge" fast travel point. Walk up the platform and enter the building to launch the mission. You will have to fight with several enemies, among which there will be many stormtroopers and thugs. The Rebel Cremator will also appear. He fights just like the flamethrowers at the beginning of the game. Dodge his charged attacks, keep your distance, and roll over in case of fire. After the victory, look in the depths of the location for the "golden book" marker, which indicates the artifact. Pick up the item. When the time is right, return to the Ravine City and speak with Madame Beauvoir to receive your reward.
Endless darkness
This quest can be taken towards the end of the "Rescue" mission, when you will be asked to chat with Yakub to travel to Eagle Peaks. Talk to Dr. Zahedi at the car camp. Follow the marker to the bridge, turn right in front of it and find the doors leading to the mission area. Inside the lab, pick up two diary entries. One of them - storyline, will advance this quest. Go outside, cross the bridge and turn left to reach the swamps.
In the first part of the location, you will have to fight monsters. There will be two waves in total, and in each there will be one Perforo leader. In the central part of the swamps, on one of the hills, there is ore. And closer to the place of the blockage, on the left hand there is an open building. Inside is a box with equipment. Clear the blockage, kill the enemies inside the cave, where there will also be three deposits. Climb outside, defeat another Perforo pack, and enter the cryolab. By the way, when leaving the cave, keep to the fence to the right to find a container with equipment. And to the left of the entrance to the cryolab is a diary entry. Examine the cryocapsule inside and then pick up the recordings. Return to Zahedi to complete the mission.
Home Sweet Home
This quest can be taken towards the end of the "Rescue" mission, when you will be asked to chat with Yakub to travel to Eagle Peaks. Chat with Alfred McKelen at the Car Camp. Get to the indicated location in the First City and go through the door. You will only need to win one battle against the marauders. Do not rush to move deeper into the location, kill enemies from a distance. Eventually, Captain Diesel will appear. Another elite enemy, using mortar barrage, flamethrower and charged attack (from a run). Shoot him from a safe distance. Try to lure you to the beginning of the location. No one will bother you here. Except that rare thugs. After the victory, go through the gate to the old man's house. There is a diary entry inside the house, and a descent to the left of it leads to a container with equipment.
Eagle peaks
The underworld
The task will begin immediately upon arrival at this location. You can turn around and go to the very beginning to pick up the entries for the diary, lying by the tent on the right. Go to the other side and chat with Josselin, and then leave the location through the nearby gate.
On the way to the next checkpoint (the first is called "Rope Bridge in the Mountains") you will have to win three battles. The first will contain the usual and poisonous Perforos. There is an equipment box on the left on the hill. In the second battle, you will see the first Screamers. Defeating one will not be difficult, but when there are two of them, you need to act carefully. Watch out for both as they fire high damage projectiles. It is important for you to shoot down at least one of them. As long as the Screamer lies on the ground, he is defenseless and harmless. And in the third battle, the leaders will join the usual and poisonous Perfero. Stay to the left as you climb so as not to miss another gear box. Finally, the Volcano Dome checkpoint is activated. Move on, kill small spiders (you can use a regular pistol),
A battle against the boss awaits you. The battle is divided into three stages:
- At the first stage, there will be one spider. You must use dodges to avoid the blue area. Especially a large circle, where the spider will jump after a couple of seconds. Also, the spider will periodically climb the wall. At this moment, do not pay attention to it, but look under your feet and avoid blue circles. Shells will fall there. To deal maximum damage to the spider, aim for the layer of armor on the back, above its head. This plate stands out directly from the rest of the shell. After breaking through the plate, you will open a vulnerable spot, which is highlighted in orange. Shoot at him. But after a while, the spider will restore the armor plate, and you will have to repeat the steps.
- Believe it or not, the second and third stages are much easier. The thing is that in addition to the boss, small spiders will appear on the location. And you will be able to restore health points at their expense! As for the very second stage, the spider will occasionally jump on you, more often it will try to get closer and flood part of the location with fire. The part that will be flooded with fire (sprayed through the back hole) will be highlighted in a subtle transparent blue. It should be avoided. Two armor plates will appear on the spider's back at once. Break any and shoot at a vulnerable spot.
- Finally, in the third stage, the monster will turn into a tall claw with many growths. To inflict damage, it is enough to shoot at these growths. And when thin blue lines appear on the location, run in a circle so that the spider cannot flood you with fire. And do not forget to run around the fireballs, as well as periodically shoot small spiders. This stage is the easiest!
After defeating the spider, return to the ZAK camp and chat with the captain.
Eagle Peaks side quests
Historian - Timelessness
As soon as you activate the "Dome of the Volcano" checkpoint, pay attention to the hill on the side. It leads to the next artifact that Madame Beauvoir needs. To successfully complete the mission, kill common enemies and defeat the Vanguard Captain. First, stay away from him. Second, avoid red areas on the ground (if you allow him to use his abilities). If you keep your distance, he simply won't be able to harm you. After the victory, take the item and leave the location.
