Pokémon GO: Xerneas Counter - The best attackers for the legendary boss

The counterattacks for Xerneas in Pokémon GO are important so that you can defeat the legendary boss from Gen 6. We show you in the overview the best attackers that you should use in the raid.

What's going on in Pokémon GO? From May 4, 2021 you can meet Xerneas as the legendary boss in Pokémon GO. It belongs to the 6th generation and can be found in difficulty 5, the legendary raid bosses.

In this overview we show you everything you need to know about Xerneas so that you can defeat it.

Xerneas counterattack, moveset and all information about the raid boss

When is Xerneas coming? You can find the legendary boss in level 5 raids from May 4, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. local time until May 18, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. local time. From May 18th to June 1st you will meet at Yveltal.

The best counterattacks: Xerneas himself is of the fairy type and is reinforced in cloudy weather. For you this means that attackers can attack effectively with steel or poison attacks. In the following overview, we show you the best counter-Pokémon and which attacks they should ideally be able to master.

Mega BisaflorVine blow + mud bomb

Which attacks does Xerneas master? As an immediate attack, Xerneas can learn tackle (normal) or zen headbutt (psycho).

As a charging attack, gigastrike (normal), moon violence (fairy), multitudes (beetles), close combat (combat) or thunder (electro).

A combination of Zen headbutt and Gigastock is the strongest moveset on Xerneas.

Mega Evolutions: Xerneas is the first level 5 raid boss in Pokémon GO where poison attackers are really effective. If you carry out a mega development with Gengar, Bibor or Bisaflor, you will use it to strengthen all poison attacks in your raid. So it can be really worth it.

How many trainers do you need? If you attack with a group of 4 trainers and your teams consist of the counterattacks mentioned above, you should have no problems in the fight against Xerneas.

How important is Xerneas in Pokémon GO?

That's why it's good: Trainers are waiting for new Pokémon from the 6th generation and Xerneas is meeting this need together with 4 other Pokémon from Gen 6 . This is good news for the collectors among you, because with Xerneas you will find a new, legendary Pokémon for your collection.

That's bad: The problem with the current state of Xerneas is its bad instant attacks. There is simply a lack of fairy attacks in Pokémon GO. Tackle and Zen headbutt just don't make up for that. Without an immediate Fee-type attack, Xerneas is not particularly strong .

It remains to be seen whether Niantic will still buff the legendary Pokémon. Will you still catch a lot of Xerneas or is that a Pokémon that you only get one of?
