Skills are available from the very beginning of the game, and skills can be acquired from various homeless people with a sufficient level of trust. How to upgrade all skills in Hobo: Tough Life
In the "Metrics" section of your hero, you can track the seven basic skills of the character. All of them are available from the very start, you just need to level them up.
Communication
This skill affects communication with both passers-by and other homeless people. The higher the level of communication, the easier it is to achieve the location of any game character.
You can upgrade the skill simply by communicating with people, reading books, and also improve the skill of a homeless person named Shizik. The latter will raise the skill level to "Expert" or "Master" for 50 and 80 trust points, respectively.
The Shizika camp is located near the train station square. You can meet him for the first time when completing Meisner's side mission "Repairing the radio".
Begging
A high skill level will allow you to beg for more money from passers-by. At the maximum level of begging, passers-by will give you not only money, but also various consumables.
You can increase the skill level with a homeless man named Henry, who works with Shizik in the train station square. Dialogue with this character will become available only after completing the "Tax Collection" story quest.
- Begging Expert : Raise your skill to level 4 and pay Henry CZK 400;
- Begging Master : Raise your skill to level 7 and pay Henry 1000 damage.
Trade
When talking to passers-by, you can also offer them various items for sale. The skill helps you sell things at a better price. You can improve the skill with two characters:
- Trade "Expert" : increase the level of trust of the commission agent Anatoly to 80 units and bring him "Merkur" cigarettes (1);
- Trade "Master" : Raise the level of trust of the leader of the fire victims, Baron, to 70 credits and bring him a bottle of cognac (1).
Theft
The skill allows you to quickly rob ordinary passers-by and other homeless people. It can be pumped from a homeless Furgrim, who lives in a cardboard tent next to a shopping center, as well as from the leader of the bandits Bruno. The latter is located in a bar not far from Furgrim.
- Theft "Expert" - increase your trust with Furgrim up to 30 units to pump the skill;
- Theft "Master" - increase your trust from Bruno to 90 units to pump the skill.
Digging in trash heaps
One of the main activities of a homeless person is searching for useful items in trash cans and garbage cans. The higher the skill level, the more useful items you will find. Also, when examining garbage dumps, you will come across "mines" - very unpleasant objects that can stain your clothes and even lower their quality. With each skill level, your hero will warn you about the corresponding number of "mines" in the container (the skill level is equal to the number of warnings in one search).
You can improve the skill with a homeless man named Bear. He settled in the western part of Zizkov, not far from the Yama.
- Digging in garbage cans "Expert" : increase the level of trust with the Bear to 40 units and bring rum (1);
- Dump Dig Master : Raise your Medvedom Trust to 60 and grab Rum (1).
Craft
Skill determines your ability to craft and modify things in your camp and not only. To craft any item in the game, you need to play a mini-game. At this point, a 25-bar scale appears on the screen. Only a few of them will be green, the rest will be red. Depending on the level of difficulty, you will have to stop the continuously moving cursor one or more times on the green bars.
Each new skill level adds new green bars to the scale. Thus, the higher the skill, the easier it is for you to craft any items or food. The craft can only be improved by the homeless Monty, who is in the camp near the train station square.
- Expert Craft : Complete the Monty Apprentice story quest to increase your skill level;
- Crafting Master : Raise your trust from Monty to 45 and the skill Crafting to 7.
Breaking into
In Hobo: Tough Life, you can pick a variety of locks. The picking mechanic is very similar to the standard picking of locks from the Elder Scrolls series of games. A higher skill level allows you to pick more difficult locks. You can improve the skill with several characters.
- Hack "Expert" : increase trust with a homeless Drax up to 40 units (a homeless person is in Ferenc's camp on the territory of a sugar factory);
- Hack "Master" : increase your trust with the bandit Bond to 80 units (for this you will need to complete the plot tasks of the bandits Anton and Bruno).
How to unlock all skills in Hobo: Tough Life
The skills in the game are slightly different from the skills. Each individual skill gives your character some advantage or new abilities. As with increasing the level of skills, skills can only be unlocked from individual characters under certain conditions. We have described all the skills in the game and told how to unlock them.
Daredevil
- Description : This skill allows you to enter residential buildings and ask residents for help. You can also relieve yourself in public places.
To learn this skill, you will have to earn the trust of the leader of the Fort of decent people, Tony. The fort is located in the southern part of Zizkov. When you increase your trust level to 30, save 300 crowns and ask Tony to teach you.
Cracker
- Description : You can break open the doors of residential buildings.
The skill is taught by the bandit Bond, who works for Bruno. To get to know him and increase the level of trust to 40 units, you will have to complete a dozen of Bruno's story missions.
Drunkard
- Description : Alcohol has a weaker effect on you. To get drunk, you need to drink more than usual.
This skill can be taught by the Cardinal in the Bukhari camp on the station square. For training, you will have to increase the level of trust with this character to 30 units.
Dump Robber

Strategist

Near the train station square, you can find a homeless camp. The head of the camp, Shizik, will kindly teach you the "Strategist" skill if you have 30 units of trust.
Nahal
- Description : With this skill, you can also influence people. Also, the "Nahal" skill will help you beg for more handouts.
In the eastern part of the Yama (old sugar factory), you can find the slums of homeless gypsies. Langos's hut is also located here. Raise your confidence with a guy to 30 units to learn this skill.
Prankster
- Description : the skill allows you to raise your mood by poking fun at any people (additional options open in dialogues).
In the alleyways under the only skyscraper in the game, you can find the
makeshift tents of the homeless. Homeless Nuggets lives in one of them. From time to time he will ask to bring him various items. This way you can increase the level of trust with the hero. The skill will become available at 50 trust points with Nuggets.
Pickpocket
- Description : during the theft, you can pick up the first item, and not waste time on it.
Homeless Vurgrim is well versed in pickpocketing. This homeless man lives behind the mall next to your hideout. Do his little errands and build trust. When the trust with Furgrim is at least 60 units, you can learn the skill.
Pitchman
- Description : the owner of this skill can reduce the prices of some goods when trading and ask for more money when selling their own goods.
The skill can be learned from the homeless Nuggets. He lives in a cardboard tent under a skyscraper. Raise the level of trust with a bum to 30 units to acquire the skill.
Tempered
- Description : Your resistance to cold is permanently increased by 10 points.
In the central part of Zizkov, you can stumble upon the Burrow of the Homeless. Here you will also meet a guy named Struk. After you help him find the deceased comrade in the quests "Panic" and "Last Honors", you will be able to learn this skill. For training, you will also need to give Struk rum (5).
Shameless 1-2
- Description : The first level of the skill significantly reduces the decrease in mood when stealing. The second level of the skill will forever save you from lowering your mood during theft.
A homeless Furgrim can teach this skill. For the first level, you will need to increase Furgrim's trust to 20 units, and for the second - to 50 units.
Fascinating 1-2-3
- Description : Each skill level increases your charm by 5 points.
Not far from the church in one of the alleys, you can meet the pickpocket Fin. The guy will give you several quests, and will also ask you to complete small errands. To acquire the skill, it is not necessary to rub into Fin's trust, since he will teach you for money (500/1000/1500 CZK for each level).
Engineer
- Description : Allows you to repair electronic devices and household appliances.
When completing Meisner's story missions, you will meet Monty. He lives in the Shizik camp, near the train station square. Complete Monty's Apprentice quest to acquire this skill permanently.
Psychic
- Description : While exploring garbage cans and garbage cans, you can identify a curious find before you even get it.
The skill can be purchased from a homeless man named Bear. He lives next to the Fort of Decent People in the western part of Zizkov. To do this, you need to have 30 units of trust with the Bear, increase the skill "Digging in trash heaps" to level 4 and bring rum to the character (2) .
Boxer
- Description : During a melee fight, you can restore 10 health points using willpower.

Gunsmith
- Description : Allows you to craft improvised weapons.
This skill is taught by the already well-known weapon dealer Kashi. Just like the previous skill, you need to pay 300 kroons.
Masochist
- Description : Each hit you hit will add 5 points to your mood scale.
Find the Strange Type near Wurgrim's tent. To learn this skill, you first need to become a dealer at Moyzer's stash. This way you get meth at a low cost. Several times a day you can sell Strange Met. For this, the scale of trust will increase by 5 units.
Smuggler
- Description : When arrested, only 50% of your contraband will be confiscated.
When you learn to steal from passers-by, Bruno's people will contact you. His assistant, Anton, will give you some tasks. To get the skill, you need to raise Anton's trust level to 70.
Alcoholic 1-2-3
- Description : each new skill level will increase your charm by 10 points.
This skill has three levels. The first two levels can be increased at Bukhari named Cardinal, who stands in the Bukhari camp on the station square. To do this, you need to increase the confidence of the homeless to 20 and 50 units, respectively.
The third level of the skill will become available from the leader of the Bukhari, Zaki. Do not try to learn it until your trust with it is less than 95 points.
"Dependent" 1-2
- Description : the skill allows you to cope with addiction.
During the passage of Hobo: Tough Life, you will definitely find yourself in a brothel. The first level of the skill can be obtained from Ramzi for 30 points of trust. The second level will become available from the leader of the brothel Moiser, for 80 trust points.
