Developers from the studio Blizzard Entertainment in their official blog summed up the general results of the first technical alpha testing of Diablo 2: Resurrected. The authors took a close look at feedback from players, which helped them make a number of visual improvements to the remake and make balance adjustments.

The graphical improvements were primarily received by the spells that the players used during the passage. Various status effects have also been improved to be more expressive during battle. Lightning, Blizzard, and Sacred Cold have been slightly modified to match their canon style from the original Diablo 2.

The visual changes have also been made to the animation speed, which will now correspond to the filling of health and mana orbs when they are replenished by the character. In addition, the developers decided to change the standard color of the icons of scrolls, gems, potions and other items to clarify the interface. They have become more saturated and better stand out against the background, which can also have a beneficial effect on the colorfulness of the image.

In addition to visual improvements, Blizzard has made several gameplay tweaks. In the Diablo 2 remake, it became possible to toggle the display of item names using a single key. But at the same time, the original function of turning on by holding the key has been preserved.

In the general cache, the storage system has changed and new tabs have appeared. The number of tabs was increased from one to three. With this change, players will be able to better organize their finds and store even more items.

Other improvements:

  • The tooltip with comparing properties that appeared in the description of each item can now be turned on or off through the game settings
  • The level map has become clearer for players. New elements have been added and colors have been corrected in semi-transparent mode.
  • Added a clock that can be turned on through the settings
  • Characters will no longer spawn in a dangerous location until loading is complete.
  • Removed previously added additional sighs and screams that players did not like

Diablo 2: Resurrected Phase 2 testing will take place in August. Players who have pre-ordered will be among the first to enter it, then testing will go to an open format and everyone can join it.

The Diablo 2: Resurrected release date is scheduled for September 23 for PC and two generations of consoles: PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X.
