A beginner's guide to King's Bounty II - how to recruit squads, improve leadership, level up your character and other game tips

In a turn based tactical game King's Bounty 2 you have to face many interesting mechanics. In this guide, we will tell you how to create your first character, how to recruit units for your army, how to upgrade your character and earn money, and also help you understand the ideals and talents of the hero.

Character creation in King's Bounty 2

Before you start the passage of the story campaign of King's Bounty 2, the game will offer you to choose one of the three available characters: Warrior , Mage or Paladin . You can also choose one of five talents, which cannot be changed throughout the passage.

The warrior prefers to solve all problems by force. He is great at managing the army, and is also good at specializing in defense. Despite the fact that the warrior loves to equip heavy weapons and armor, in battle he can use the found or acquired magic scrolls.

Warrior Talents:

  • Mercenary : This talent makes your character an expert in military affairs, who is alien to magic. All troops under the command of your hero will have the best combat characteristics.
  • Prepare for Combat 1 : You gain a (+3) bonus to military affairs.
  • Training 1 : Each victory in battle will grant you 10% more experience.
  • Strength Balance 1 : All units of the “Strength” ideal receive a bonus to the decrease in morale for finding other ideals with the units.
  • Retribution 1 : The damage of an allied squad is increased by 5% for each wounded soldier in this squad.

The magician has the unique ability to use various magical scrolls of elemental magic. She deftly controls the magic of Air and Fire, as well as the magic of Earth and Ice. In addition to magical scrolls, which you can find or purchase from merchants, you can use some of Katarina's standard spells in battle. Each of these spells requires a certain amount of mana to use.

Mage Talents:

  • Sorceress : You are a powerful sorceress who completely ignores military affairs, and uses the most powerful spells in battle.
  • Magic of Air and Fire 1 : you can study found or acquired spells from the scrolls of the school of Air and Fire.
  • Magic of Earth and Ice 1 : You can study found or acquired spells from the scrolls of the school of Earth and Ice.
  • Mastery Balance 1 : All units of the “Mastery” ideal receive a bonus to the decrease in morale for finding other ideals with the units.
  • Insidious Maneuver 1 : when dealing damage, an allied unit has a 25% chance to remove a random buff from the enemy and apply it to itself.

A paladin is a light knight who can skillfully combine brute strength and simple magic. Elsa has access to the magic of Life and Light, as well as the skill "Magic Armor". Just like a mage, a paladin can use basic magic spells without magic scrolls. The first such spell will be Heal.

Paladin Talents:

  • Intercessor : You are a born leader with little ability for magic, who is alien to military affairs. This talent allows you to gather maximum squads faster.
  • Magic of Life and Light 1 : you can study found or acquired spells from the scrolls of the school of Life and Light.
  • Balance Order 1 : All units of the Ideal "Order" receive a bonus to the decrease in morale for finding other ideals with the units.
  • Defense 1 : In the first round, all allied units receive a bonus (+5) to armor.
  • Magic Armor 1 : In the first round, all allied units receive a (+5) bonus to resistance.

Talents and Ideals in King's Bounty 2. How to level up Order, Anarchy, Strength and Mastery

Four ideals are available to any of the three classes in King's Bounty 2 , which you can pump as you progress through the story campaign. Basically, ideals are acquired after the next choice in storyline or additional tasks. You yourself have the right to choose which ideal points you will receive when completing quests.

For example, in one of the first side quests in King's Bounty 2 called "Axes and Slivers", you will be given the choice to help people (+1 point of Order) or help out the dwarves (+1 point of Anarchy). You will meet similar forks until the end of the game.

Why are ideals needed?

Ideals enable you to acquire new talents. The talent tree can be tracked in the section of the same name.

Why are ideals needed?

There are four levels of talent in total. To improve the first tier of talents, you do not need to increase the number of ideals. To improve the talents of the second and subsequent levels, you will have to complete a sufficient number of storyline and side quests to increase the number of ideals.

  • To improve the talents of the second level, you need to earn 8 points of the selected ideal;
  • To improve the talents of the third level, you need to open 16 points of the selected ideal;
  • To improve the fourth level talents, you need to earn 28 points of the chosen ideal.

How to recruit squads in King's Bounty 2. How to upgrade leadership

Leadership is one of the main indicators in King's Bounty 2. Any fighter recruited into your army requires a certain amount of free leadership points. Leadership points determine how many fighters you can recruit into the allied units of your army - the more leadership points your hero has, the more strong fighters you can recruit and use at the same time.

Leadership points will increase as your character levels up. Therefore, to quickly increase your leadership points - use our tips from the section "How to pump a character in King's Bounty 2" .

In every existing squad, one of the ideals prevails, which we talked about above: "Order" , "Anarchy" , "Strength" and "Mastery" :

  • "Order" is contrasted with "Anarchy" ;
  • Strength is opposed to Mastery .
If your squad has gathered units of one of the parties, then such fighters will be more effective in any battles. You can place units of different sides in your garrison, but this will reduce their effectiveness. It is best to recruit fighters who are subject to one ideal to your army, since a conflict of ideals will necessarily lead to a decrease in the morale of all units.

You can distribute soldiers in your army according to the following criteria:

  • "Order" together with "Strength" ;
  • "Order" together with "Mastery" ;
  • "Anarchy" together with "Force" ;
  • Anarchy along with Mastery .
All units have a morale indicator. As you progress through the storyline and side missions, you will be faced with choices that can affect one of the four sides of the protagonist. If your main character is more susceptible to "Order", then there is no point in recruiting units dominated by "Anarchy" and vice versa in your garrison, as this can reduce the effectiveness of units during battles.

How to level up a character in King's Bounty 2

There are only two ways to upgrade your hero in King's Bounty 2:

  1. Complete storyline and side missions.
  2. Fight all kinds of enemies on the global map.

Story missions will automatically update in your mission log from the very start of the game, but in order to complete additional missions , you will have to look for characters who give out such quests. Usually such characters are highlighted with a special icon.

As soon as you talk to the character who will give you the task, the progress of the quest will be displayed in the task log. Sometimes, to complete the quest, you will have to spend a lot of time, as well as complete several additional tasks in parallel. In any case, for completing such tasks, you will receive a certain amount of experience (can be tracked in the task log), money or valuable items.

Fighting against various enemies on the global map is an integral part of the game. But before such battles, we recommend weighing your forces and the forces of the enemy (before the battle, a window appears with a description of the enemy's units). If you see that your forces are not equal, or it will be very difficult for you to win such a battle, it is best to retreat. In this case, continue to complete additional tasks, increase the level of the hero and pump leadership points . The latter will be needed so that you can recruit as many allied units as possible into your army.

How to make money in King's Bounty 2

In addition to completing additional quests, as you progress through the game, you will constantly find various barrels, boxes and chests with jewels. Since in King's Bounty 2, the open world is quite limited for the character's movement, even if you did not notice the chest, box or purse with gold, after visiting the place with the possible location of the item, it will be displayed on the global map.

It should be remembered that such items will be displayed on the map until you find them. They can be hidden in bushes, under trees, in ruins of buildings, or in other inconspicuous places. Usually in boxes or barrels you can find various trash, which any merchants will gladly buy from you. In the chests you will find valuable items for sale, money or armor items. Hopefully there is no need to explain what is hidden in the purse of gold?
