The Sorceress Resurrected in Diablo 2: Beginners Guide

The sorceress is one of the most popular classes in Diablo 2 for a reason. With our tips, build recommendations and rune words, you are well equipped to overcome the first level of difficulty "Normal" with her.

General tips about the sorceress

The sorceress cannot take many hits, but she can easily compensate for this with her enormous damage . Your skills devour a lot of mana, especially at the start of the game. As with most other classes, you should always fill your inventory with potions .

Since you can only reset your attributes and skills once per level of difficulty, you should think about which type of sorceress you want to play right at the beginning. The fire sorceress is ideal for individual goals and from level 19 also benefits immensely from the rune word leaf . The lightning sorceress, on the other hand, is a fantastic choice for fighting entire groups , which requires a little more time in boss fights.

The most important attributes

  • Strength / skill

Only invest as many points here as necessary to carry your equipment. In the normal difficulty level , 15 points in strength and 30 points in dexterity are completely sufficient for the longest time.

  • energy

Optionally, you can invest a few points in energy at the beginning of the game to increase your mana supply. In the long term, however, your mana increases automatically with increasing level and better equipment. You cannot avoid the regular consumption of mana potions on the first level of difficulty.

  • vitality

The sorceress starts with extremely little life, so in the vast majority of cases all your points should flow into vitality with every level up.

Beginner builds to get you started

In Normal difficulty, there are two builds that are not only extremely powerful, but also easy to play. You have the choice between the fire and the lightning sorceress.

The skill points of the fire sorceress

The fire sorceress relies on the skill Firebolt. Your starting weapon already gives you a bonus on exactly this skill, so you can try out the skill in peace and then decide whether you like it or would rather give the lightning sorceress a chance. If you want, you can also put a few individual points in comfort skills from the lightning skills with the fire sorceress.

At level 25, your build could look something like this:

capabilitySkill points
Firebolt20th
warmth1
Static field1
telekinesis1
Teleport1
Fireball1+

Fireball does more area damage than Firebolt. However, both spells support each other through their synergy. Points in one skill also increase the damage in the other. So you can safely put points in Firebolt, even if you will primarily use Fireball in the later course of the game.

The skill points of the lightning sorceress

Your primary skill Comboblitz. The powerful Static Field ability is also available to you in boss fights. With this you can reduce a fixed percentage of the opponent's life energy, regardless of whether they have 100 or 1,000 life points. The heat, telekinesis and teleport skills are comfort skills that help you move around and regenerate mana.

At level 25, your build could look something like this:

capabilitySkill points
Comboblitz20th
warmth1
Static field1
telekinesis1
Teleport1
lightning strike1+

As soon as you have reached the maximum with Comboblitz, you can put your other points in lightning strike. Thanks to the synergy, each point in Lightning Bolt continues to increase Comboblitz's damage.
