CoD Vanguard: Beta / Open-Beta - information on start, download, early access
When does the Vanguard beta start?
The first beta weekend is over and the second round starts on September 16:
- September 16 - 20: PlayStation Open Beta (PS Plus required)
- September 16 - 20: Xbox and Battle.net pre-order (Early Access )
- September 18-20: Open Beta on all platforms
The respective beta phases start / end at 1 p.m. USA.
How big is the download and when does the pre-load start?
The pre-load for the PlayStation is already online and you can start the download at any time if you have access to the beta. The size of the download depends on your game version:
- PS4 download: approx. 10 GB
- PS5 download: approx. 15 GB
How can I join the Vanguard Beta?
If you are eligible, you can find the download for the Vanguard Beta either in your shop on the console or in Battle.net. To start the download on the PlayStation, however, you must be a PS Plus subscriber.
If you bought a digital version on your PC, it works automatically with your chosen account. If you have bought a disc, you will receive a code and have to register with your CoD account ( callofduty.com ). Here you also choose your desired platform.
Can I join the Vanguard beta without spending any money?
Yes, there are 2 completely free "Open Beta" phases. If you're on the PlayStation, you can go into battle from September 16th until September 20th. But you need PS Plus.
With PC or Xbox you can access the servers for free from September 18th to 20th.
Are there any codes or keys to take part in the beta?
Yes, there are such codes. Unfortunately, you cannot simply “apply” for such a code from CoD. There are currently 2 ways to get such a code:
- Keep your eyes peeled for beta code raffles
- Buy the code of a disc version
Players with a physical version of Vanguard on disc will receive a code for access to the beta . There are some offers on the net to buy such a code for a few euros. If you really want to test the beta extensively without buying the game directly, it can be worthwhile for you. Especially on the PlayStation, as the beta runs here on two weekends.
Please note, however, that you will not take any progress into the main game from the beta and that there will also be a few days when you can play the beta completely for free - regardless of the platform.
What does Vanguard's beta content look like?
In contrast to the Alpha, there are 6 different modes on four 6vs6 maps. The tournament mode from the Alpha, Champions Hill, is also back and brings a 5th map. There is also a lot of weapons that you can upgrade to level 30 to test the new armorer.
However, not all of the beta content was available in the first weekend. With the start of the second weekend, the popular “Search & Destroy” mode will be added, as well as the small “Eagle's Nest” map.
The new "Combat Pacings" are also part of the test. Depending on the maps, there are more players on one map for the different pacings. That can go up to 48 players per map and match.
