How to get new building items in Valheim Hearth & Home

How to get new building items in Valheim Hearth & Home

Construction in Valheim is a very important element, because without strong walls and a roof over your head, you simply cannot survive. With the Hearth & Home update, a large number of new building items have been added to the game, as well as some furniture. In this guide, we have prepared a complete list of new blueprints for construction in Valheim.

Each of the blueprints presented is tied to resources that you can find in the open world. Some blueprints will require metal or bronze, which can be obtained after mining and processing in a smelter . You may also need a tree to craft construction items.

How to get dark wood gates and other dark wood building items

A dark tree can be created from a new tar resource.

Dark wood gate

Such gates differ from ordinary wooden gates in their appearance, metal inserts and iron handles. Only one half of the gate can be made at a time. If you want to install double gates, you have to craft the item twice. This item cannot be crafted without a forge .

Crafting Resources:

  • Wood (16 units);
  • Iron (4 units);
  • Tar (2 units);
  • Forge.

Slate roof

As with building a standard roof, you can install two types of slate roofing - 26 degrees and 45 degrees. Crafting any single roof element will require some resources and a workbench .

Crafting Resources:

  • Wood (2 units);
  • Tar (1 unit);
  • Workbench.

Dark wood posts and beams

Dark wood pillars and bars are of two types - 2 meters each and 4 meters each. Naturally, you will need to spend more regular wood to make larger posts and beams.

Crafting Resources:

  • Wood (2 or 4 units);
  • Tar (1 unit);
  • Workbench.

Carved dark wood partition

A carved dark wood partition will not only replace ordinary wooden walls for you, but also become a beautiful decorative element that is able to let in the sun's rays during the daytime. Such building elements did not exist in Valheim yet.

Crafting Resources:

  • Quality wood (2 units);
  • Tar (1 unit);
  • Workbench.

Dark wood arch

Dark wood arch

Since all building elements made of dark wood differ in their appearance, the developers decided to add an arch, which can be installed around the perimeter of your building for beauty.

Crafting Resources:

  • Wood (2 units);
  • Tar (1 unit);
  • Workbench.

Raven and Wolf (decorations)

Custom dark wood decorations that you can place on the building to your liking. As a reminder, until the last update, there was only one piece, the Wooden Dragon.

Crafting Resources:

  • Quality wood (10 units);
  • Tar (1 unit);
  • Workbench.

How to unlock the grate blueprint and where to use them

The grates in Valheim allow you to safely enclose a trapped animal that can be tamed. For example, if you put a wild boar or a wolf in an enclosure made of a wooden fence, then there is a great chance that in a fit of aggression (this happens when you get too close to an animal that has not yet been tamed) the animal can break this very fence and safely hide from you.

Until the last update, players had to go to various tricks, erecting serious structures from solid wood, and sometimes even from stone. But now you can forget about such difficulties, because an open-air cage made of lattices has even more strength than stone fortifications.

How to unlock the blueprint: You will automatically receive the blueprints for lattice products after you mine iron and smelt it into metal ingots. If you continue to play in the pre-update world, the new blueprints may not be available, as well as some content added in the last update.

Slatted floor

Slatted floor

The "slatted floor" will most likely not be used as a floor, as it makes no sense. If you are setting up an aviary on the ground, this will be sufficient. But you can also install a "floor" instead of a roof and build a real cage. There are two types of slatted floor - 1x1 and 2x2. To make a larger element, you will have to spend one more metal unit.

Crafting Resources:

  • Iron (1 or 2 units);
  • Forge.

Lattice wall

Lattice wall

Walls are the main elements that you will most likely use to tame animals. You can also use them to try to place a bull lizard in the aviary and tame it.

Crafting Resources:

  • Iron (1 or 2 units);
  • Forge.

How to get wood sash and crystal wall blueprints

Wooden sash

Wooden sash

Wooden doors are unlikely to protect you from the attack of monsters, but they will definitely be able to delay them for a while. Installed in the place of an impromptu fence in front of the house and replace the gate.

How to unlock the blueprint: This blueprint will be accessed after you melt the bronze ingots into nails.

Crafting Resources:

  • Wood (4 units);
  • Bronze nails (2 units);
  • Workbench.

Crystal wall

Crystal wall

The crystal wall is more suitable not as walls, but as windows. This is due to the fact that such a construction object cannot be installed on top of each other. That is, the crystal wall can only be placed in one row between other building elements. It is not possible to build wooden beams or walls over an installed crystal wall.

How to unlock a blueprint: such a wall will be a luxury for players, as in order to open the blueprint, you will have to find a rather rare resource "crystal". Such a resource drops from stone golems in the "Mountain" biome. These are rather difficult and strong monsters, to defeat which you will need powerful weapons and strong armor.

Crafting Resources:

  • Crystal (2 units);
  • Workbench.

How to get the Cartographer's Table, Black Metal Chest, and Other Furniture

Cartographer's table

Cartographer's table

This element is completely useless in single player, but useful in co-op. Using the cartographer's desk, you write down all your marks on the map, and your friends can transfer them to their map. In the same way, you can find out about interesting places that are plotted on the map from your friends.

To mark the map, go to the table, point the cursor at the wooden box and click "Record Discovery". If you want to transfer your friends' records to your card, hover your mouse cursor directly over the card on the table and click "Read Card".

How to unlock the blueprint: Collect Bronze Ore and smelt it into ingots to open this quadrangle.

Crafting Resources:

  • Quality wood (10 units);
  • Bone fragments (10 units);
  • Bronze (2 units);
  • Scraps of Leather (5 units);
  • Raspberry (4 units);
  • Workbench.

Stacks of wood, coal and coins

Stacks of wood were previously present in the game, but only regular wood and stones could be stored. Now you can store quality wood, solid wood, stones, coal, as well as coins and jewelry. This will allow you to get rid of the constant search for resources necessary at one time or another. To return the resources that were spent on making the stack, it is enough to destroy the created object with any weapon.

Black metal chest

Black metal chest

This chest is currently the largest in Valheim. Previously, players had access to several types of chests, the largest of which (a reinforced chest) could hold 24 stacks of any items. The black metal chest can hold as many as 32 stacks.

Black metal can be found in the Plains biome by searching the camps of hostile fuling creatures. Sometimes, ferrous metal ingots will drop out after defeating such creatures.

How to unlock a blueprint: Search for tar and ferrous metal to access this blueprint.

Crafting Resources:

  • Wood (10 units);
  • Tar (2 units);
  • Black metal (6 units);
  • Workbench.

Dark wood armchair

How to unlock the blueprint: You can get the blueprint for a dark wood chair after mining the tar.

Crafting Resources:

  • Quality wood (4 units);
  • Tar (1 unit);
  • Iron nails (5 units);
  • Deer skin (1 unit);
  • Workbench.

Log bench

Crafting Resources:

  • Solid wood (2 units).

Stone throne

Stone throne

How to unlock the blueprint: The stone throne will be available for crafting from the very beginning of the game, regardless of the resources you mine.

Crafting Resources:

  • Stone (20 units);
  • Deer skin (2 units);
  • Wolf skin (2 units);
  • Stone cutter.

Round table

How to unlock the blueprint: Find the Tar to gain access to crafting this furniture.

Crafting Resources:

  • Quality wood (10 units);
  • Tar (2 units);
  • Iron nails (20 units);
  • Workbench.

Long heavy table

Long heavy table

How to unlock a blueprint: like the previous blueprint, you will receive a diagram of a long heavy table after mining the tar.

Crafting Resources:

  • Quality wood (20 units);
  • Tar (2 units);
  • Iron nails (20 units);
  • Workbench.

Standing iron torch with blue fire

How to unlock the blueprint: This quadrangle will be available with the opening of the metal ingots.

Crafting Resources:

  • Iron (2 units);
  • Greydwarf's Eye (2 units);
  • Forge.

Bath

Bath

The last piece of furniture will allow you not only to decorate your home, but also to have a good rest. If you add wood to the furnace of the bath, then in the next few hours while in the bath you will receive a bonus "Vigor", which is valid 18 minutes after the last bath.

How to unlock the blueprint: The blueprint can be opened after you receive the tar for the first time.

Crafting Resources:

  • Wood (20 units);
  • Tar (6 units);
  • Iron (10 units);
  • Stone (8 units);
  • Workbench.
