Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy - solving technical problems

Error "No suitable D3D12 driver found", bugs, crashes, freezes and more

The new game in the Marvel universe turned out to be not at all what most expected. It doesn't look like last year's Avengers at all: instead of a story-driven MMO with a grind, here we have a full-fledged single-player party RPG with spectacular battles and no less spectacular relationships between the five main characters. And also the engine and even the developers have changed. All this went to Guardians of the Galaxy for the benefit in a technical sense: the game looks great with noticeably much lower system requirements than the same Avengers.

True, it was not without technical problems at all, although half of them are due to the fact that the game does not work well on outdated hardware. Below are solutions to common problems with Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy.

What computer do you need for Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy (system requirements)

The game can load up to 16 processor threads. Therefore, even an Intel Core i9 or AMD Ryzen 9 cannot be considered redundant. In addition, for a stable 60 FPS at maximum settings at 1080p, a video card of the level of a GeForce GTX 1070 or Radeon RX 590 is required. However, like most third-person action games, the game plays well at a stable 30 FPS. Therefore, a bundle from the old Core i5 (or the new Core i3) and the GTX 1060 is enough.

As for the official system requirements, they are designed only for 1080p (1920x1080) and 2K (2560x1440) resolutions. We reviewed the game benchmarks and added recommendations for 4K (3840x2160) gaming.

Official minimum system requirements (1080p @ 60 FPS, low preset):

  • Operating system : Windows 10 (64-bit only!).
  • Processor : Intel Core i5-4460 / Ryzen 5 1400.
  • Video card : NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 (or AMD equivalent).
  • RAM : 8 gigabytes.

Official Recommended System Requirements (1440p @ 60 FPS, high preset):

  • Operating system : Windows 10 x64.
  • Processor : Intel Core i7-4770K / AMD Ryzen 5 1600.
  • Video card : NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Super (or AMD equivalent).
  • RAM : 16 gigabytes.

4K @ 30 FPS PC (tested):

  • Operating system : Windows 10 x64.
  • Processor : Intel Core i5-8400 / AMD Ryzen 5 3400.
  • Video card : NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 / Radeon RX 5700.
  • RAM : 16 gigabytes.

4K @ 60 FPS PC (Tested):

  • Operating system : Windows 10 x64.
  • Processor : Intel Core i7-9700K / AMD Ryzen 7 3700X.
  • Video card : NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti / Radeon RX 6800.
  • RAM : 16 gigabytes.

Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy won't launch on Windows 7

The game is not designed to run on Microsoft operating systems older than Windows 10. In addition, a 64-bit version of the OS is required.

If everything is in order with this, then try resetting the overclocking: go to the MSI Afterburner application and press the Reset button (if such a program is not installed, then the video card most likely did not overclock).
