Setting up New World graphics for a weak PC

How to get stable 60 FPS in the main MMORPG of the year

If you did manage to fight your way through the kilometer-long lines of a new product from Amazon, then you might also encounter low game performance. In New World, it is not that the most modern and technologically advanced picture, but the recommended system requirements are clearly underestimated.

If your PC does a good job with some "The Witcher 3" , and in New World produces barely 30 FPS at medium settings, then this guide is for you.

What computer do you need for New World (system requirements)?

We studied the tests of the game on different hardware in different resolutions and came to the conclusion that the official system requirements are not far from the truth. But they lack recommendations for playing at 1440p and 4K - we added them based on the tests we studied.

Official minimum system requirements (1080p @ 30 FPS, low preset):

  • Operating system: Windows 10 (64-bit only!).
  • Processor: Intel Core i5-2400 / 4-core AMD equivalent
  • Video card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670 / AMD Radeon R9 280.
  • RAM: 8 gigabytes.

Official Recommended System Requirements (1080p @ 30 FPS, High Preset):

  • Operating system: Windows 10 x64.
  • Processor: Intel Core i7-2600K / AMD Ryzen 5 1400.
  • Video card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 / AMD Radeon R9 390X.
  • RAM: 16 gigabytes.

To play at 1440p @ 30 FPS, high. preset (according to tests):

Operating system: Windows 10 x64.
Processor: Intel Core i5-7400 / AMD Ryzen 3 1200.
Video card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 / AMD Radeon RX 590.
RAM: 16 gigabytes.

For playing at 1440p @ 60 FPS, high. preset (according to tests):

Operating system: Windows 10 x64.
Processor: Intel Core i3-8100 / AMD Ryzen 3 2200G.
Video card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti / AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT.
RAM: 16 gigabytes.

For 4K @ 30 FPS, hi. preset (according to tests):

Operating system: Windows 10 x64.
Processor: Intel Core i5-9400 / AMD Ryzen 5 3500X.
Video card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 / AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT.
RAM: 16 gigabytes.

For 4K @ 60 FPS gameplay, high. preset (according to tests):

Operating system: Windows 10 x64.
Processor: Intel Core i5-9600K / AMD Ryzen 5 3600X.
Video card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 / AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT.
RAM: 16 gigabytes.

New World Optimization Tips

Next, we will briefly analyze each setting and give tips on how to increase FPS in New World.

  • Window Mode It is better to choose a full-screen mode ( Fullscreen ), the system has allocated maximum resources for the game itself, without maintaining the desktop.
  • Resolution Set the native screen resolution to make the picture as clear as possible. Most often it is 1920x1080.
  • Field of View (angle of view). It is best to leave the default value of 50 to avoid distortion in the standard 16: 9 aspect ratio. If you increase it, then more surrounding space will be removed into the frame, but the performance will also drop accordingly.
Shot from far cry 5: new dawn, but the essence, we think, is clear

  • Effect Details Additional visual effects of lighting and particles. We recommend downgrading on weak machines to medium quality ( Medium ) or even lower.
  • Lighting Details (quality of lighting). A high value ( High ) makes the image more natural, but eats away a few frames per second. On a weak video card, it is better to downgrade.
  • Object Details Responsible for detailing distant objects. Average quality ( Medium ) small indistinguishable from high ( HIgh ), if you play on a small monitor at resolutions higher than 1920x1080. Therefore, you can downgrade.
  • Post Processing Details Color correction and refinement of visual effects, as well as shadows. There is no noticeable effect on performance on modern video cards. Therefore, it is better to reduce only on outdated hardware.
  • Shadows Details Traditionally one of the most "gluttonous" parameters. At low quality ( Low ) the lighting in general deteriorates greatly, so it is better to leave at least Medium .
  • Terrain Details Detail of the surface of the earth, including relief and grass. In open areas, the impact on FPS can be noticeable. Unfortunately, the picture quality also suffers noticeably at low values. Therefore, it is better not to downgrade below the average ( Medium ).
  • Texture Details (video memory consumption up to 8 GB). The quality of textures usually affects performance noticeably only when there is a lack of video memory. For maximum quality ( Very High ), a video card with 8 gigabytes on board is required. If you have less, you will have to downgrade to high (3-4 GB) or medium quality (2 GB).
  • Water Details If you do not want the smoothness of the footage to decrease near bodies of water, then it is better to downgrade to Medium or even lower.
  • V-Sync (vertical sync). Not only does it limit the maximum FPS to the refresh rate of the screen, but it also flattens the frame time for maximum smoothness. The latter leads to a deterioration in the responsiveness of management and input lag. Therefore, it is better to use the following parameter and disable V-Sync.
  • Max FPS (maximum performance). Set here a limit of 30 FPS for a weak processor and video card (the processor is even more important), and 60 for relatively powerful ones.
  • Player Nameplate Amount It is better to keep the standard value of 15 units or lower it slightly. Magnification will not only clutter up the screen, but it can also decrease performance.
  • Dynamic Resolution Scaling Responsible for the completeness of the render resolution. It is better to leave it off, otherwise all the graphics will immediately become less clear.
