Guide to animals in Farming Simulator 22 - how to breed bees, chickens, sheep, horses, pigs and cows

Animals are the most important part of your farm in Farming Simulator 22 . Unfortunately, the game does not teach its mechanics in any way, so it can be difficult to understand all the intricacies. In this guide, we have collected all the known information about animals, as well as analyze how to buy and maintain them.

Types of animals

As with the previous game, the new Farming Simulator 22 has five types of animals that you can breed: cows, pigs, chickens, horses and sheep. Bees stand apart, which are also very useful for the economy. Despite the significant differences, all species need housing, food and water, and care. These basic parameters will have to be closely monitored, otherwise you will not get anything from your living creatures, and the farm will quickly decline.

How to build a place for animals

Once on the farm, you need to decide what kind of animals you will breed. It makes no sense to buy everything at once, since it will take a lot of effort to ensure the normal existence of even one species.

Go to the in-game store and go to the build menu. There you can select the type of animals, and then the available buildings - their place of residence. Each animal has its own buildings, in addition, they are divided into large and small (large ones are more expensive). Conventionally, such territories can be divided into corrals and sheds. The latter will be immediately provided with water, so they can seriously make life easier, but for a start, you can do with simple corrals.

How to buy animals

Now is the time to buy animals. This can be done in several ways. The first one is to buy a trailer for livestock and go to the nearest seller. Open the map to find a suitable one. This method will take a lot of time, but you will buy the necessary pets at no extra charge. Please note that the trailer can only accommodate a limited number of beasts.

If you don't want to waste time, go to the built paddock - you will see several icons. They can be turned off in the menu, but there is no point in that. You need a paw badge. By clicking on it, you can immediately select the appropriate animals for a particular paddock, but pay a shipping fee.

Please note that all types of animals have their own breeds, which in turn are divided by age. There is no point in overpaying for the breed, since the properties of all animals of the same species are the same. However, it is worth deciding on the age that affects reproduction (reproduction). Accordingly, older animals will bring offspring and resources for sale faster, but they are significantly more expensive. By buying only the cheapest breeds of the youngest animals, you can save a lot, but you will receive exactly the same resources.

You can also buy animals through the general store. There you will have to select the desired pen, but this method is no different from buying through the icon.

What do animal performance mean?

What do animal performance mean?

Now you need to provide the pets with everything they need. Open the menu and go to the screen with the existing animals. There is a lot of useful information here, so study it carefully. You can see the total number of all animals, their location and types. Each species has parameters: age, health, needs, food and other specific characteristics.

Immediately after the purchase, almost everything will be at zero. Do not be alarmed by poor health - the death of livestock is possible, but not immediately. With a low standard of living, you will not receive the products of their vital functions from animals, which means profit. By increasing all indicators, you will automatically increase health. To do this, you need to take care of the animals - clean, or walk. However, for most characteristics, it is sufficient to provide water, suitable food and a place to sleep.

The characteristics of food change depending on the type - some people prefer ordinary grain, while others need a combined meal. Please note that at the bottom of the window with the parameters of the animal, you can find information about the required food and the percentage of its effectiveness. This will help you not to forget who to feed with what. Concentrate on growing and buying sorghum - it is the staple crop that is most commonly used for nutrition.

It is important to note - some characteristics depend on the place of residence. For example, sheds have a constant supply of water, but in conventional pens this parameter will always be active for all animals in the open air. In turn, in sheds, straw is needed for sleeping, but in open places it is not. This is useful to remember, as you can independently change the number of tasks by moving animals from barns to pens and vice versa. In the future, you can also buy a robot for automatic feeding, which will further simplify the care of livestock.

How to feed the animals

The necessary feed can be produced by growing in the fields or purchased from the store. In addition to grains, potatoes and other bulk crops, bales of feed for specific animal species are available. They have already collected all the necessary ingredients. It costs more, but saves time.

The resulting feed must be distributed among the pens. The unload icon means that feed or sleeping straw can be emptied here. Just drive up with a forklift or a tractor with a box and empty the contents - it's simple.

If the livestock feeds on hay, it will not work to fill it. There are two ways to fix this problem. The first is to buy a special machine that grinds grassy forage into a total bulk mass. Hitch such a device to the tractor and drive up to the unloading icon, then everything is as usual. This method is especially true for cows. Another option is to pick up a bale of hay with a suitable loader and simply throw it into the feeder - it will still fill up.

How to water animals

The water icon next to the pens indicates drinkers. You will need mobile tanks here. They can also be purchased at the store, but will have to be filled with water. It can be purchased for money, or it can be poured for free in reservoirs. Build an underground storage on your site to fill the tank immediately on site. There is a minus - you will have to constantly pay for water. Everything in the ponds is free, but you waste time traveling. After filling the tanks, drive up to the water icon and pour out the contents by analogy with the feed. We repeat once again - in closed sheds, the water is replenished automatically.

How to get manure

Manure is a waste product of some animals. It is usually in a liquid state and is automatically collected in sheds. The place is marked with an icon with a special flask and an arrow down. You will need your own tank from the store to collect. The principle is the same as with water, only this time the container will be filled. You can fertilize your fields with manure, or sell it in stores.

Features of keeping bees

Bees are the simplest living thing on your farm. It is enough to buy a hive, and insects will settle in it automatically. Bees not only produce honey, they also pollinate your fields. Therefore, hives are divided not only by the size and number of insects living in them, but also by the coverage of pollination - from 25 to 150 meters.

Unlike sheds, in hives, you can separately build a honey collection area. This means that the bees can be scattered around different edges of your territory to maximize the benefits of the fields, but you will collect honey near the main farm.

Features of buying, keeping and caring for hens

Chickens are very easy to keep. When you decide to start breeding them, you will have to choose between young chickens, hens and roosters. Chicks take time to reach the age to lay eggs, but they are the cheapest. Roosters do not have any properties, however, we assume that having at least one rooster in a pen with chickens will have a beneficial effect on their productivity and offspring.

Chicken indicators:
  • Health - the general condition of animals, initially at zero and grows over time if there is enough food;
  • Reproductiveness - will be at zero in individuals younger than six months (10 in males). Presumably, the presence of roosters in the pen has a beneficial effect on this indicator, however, the chickens will begin to reproduce without them;
  • Productivity is a general measure of utility. Its level is influenced by health, food and, most likely, the presence of roosters in the pen;
  • Eggs are the main product that chickens produce. The more there are, the higher the indicator;
  • Food - Chickens only need grains, which include wheat, barley or sorghum. You can choose any one plant culture - the efficiency will not decrease.
Eggs must be taken to suitable stores, a list of which can be seen by finding the product in the general menu of everything that is available to you.

Chickens do not need water or grooming, which allows them to profit from them at a minimum cost.

Features of buying, keeping and caring for sheep

After choosing a corral, you need to buy animals. The breeds do not matter - all sheep give only wool.

Sheep indicators:
  • Health - the general condition of animals, initially at zero and grows over time if there is enough food;
  • Reproductiveness - will be at zero in individuals less than five months old. Reproductiveness will not increase with zero health, which means that the sheep should never be left hungry;
  • Productivity is a general measure of utility. Its level is influenced by health, food, water;
  • Wool is the main product that sheep produce. The more there are, the higher the indicator;
  • Water - this indicator will be relevant for animals in open pens;
  • Food - Sheep need grass, which includes grass and hay. You can choose one thing - the efficiency will not decrease.
By analogy with eggs, wool can be sold at suitable stores. If you have production buildings, wool can also be spent on creating more expensive products.

Features of buying, keeping and caring for horses

Horses are very valuable animals. While they don't produce anything, you can make huge money by reselling them. For this, the horses must be "pumped".

After choosing buildings, go to the animal store. Horses only differ in color, so choose based on your own preference.

Horse performance:
  • Health - the general condition of animals, initially at zero and grows over time, if there is enough food and care;
  • Cleanliness is an important factor in horses. Initially it is at maximum, but the more you ride the horse, the dirtier it will be. Regular trips are the basis for pumping physical capabilities, therefore, this is necessary for subsequent profit;
  • Fitness is an indicator that is responsible for the overall physical condition of the horse. The higher it is, the more expensive the animal is. You can download fitness with daily trips;
  • Daily rides are an indicator that will grow as you ride a horse. It will take a long time to level up to 100%, but it will affect the "fitness". The next day you will have to download it again;
  • Water / Straw is an indicator that depends on where the horses live. Open pens need water, sheds need straw;
  • Food - Horses have a wider diet than previous animal species. Their base food is oats or sorghum - 60% effective. Additionally, you can use hay - 40% efficiency.
The cost of one pumped, clean and healthy horse can increase 10 times or more, so do not neglect breeding them.

Features of buying, keeping and caring for pigs

Pigs are fairly easy to care for, but difficult to feed. To achieve 100% effective nutrition, you need to collect a very varied diet. The main product that pigs give is liquid manure, but you cannot collect it from open pens.

Choose a place for the pigs to live, as well as a breed. As with other animals, there is no point in buying someone other than the cheapest and youngest.

  • Liquid manure is the main waste product, the indicator will grow over time, liquid manure cannot be collected in open pens;
  • Food - The diet of pigs is wider than that of previous animal species. Their base food is corn or sorghum - 50% effective. Additionally, you can use wheat or barley - 25% efficiency, soybeans, rapeseed, sunflower - 20% efficiency, potatoes, sugar beets - 5% efficiency. You don't always need to feed the animals 100% efficiently, so 5% can be donated to save money.
To pump out liquid manure, you will need a special tank, which can be bought at the store.

Features of buying, keeping and caring for cows

Cows do not differ by breed, but different in age. They also have the longest reproductive life. For a complete feeding, you need a special grinding machine, although no one interferes with feeding in the usual way. You need to buy a cistern for milk. Moreover, cows do not give milk until the first calves appear.

Indicators of cows:
  • Health - the general condition of animals, initially at zero and grows over time, if there is enough food and care;
  • Reproductiveness - will be at zero in individuals less than ten months old. Reproductiveness will not increase with zero health, which means that cows should never be left hungry;
  • Productivity is a general measure of utility. Its level is influenced by health, food and water;
  • Water / Straw is an indicator that depends on where the cows live. Open pens need water, sheds need straw;
  • Liquid manure is a waste product, the indicator will grow over time, liquid manure cannot be collected in open pens;
  • Milk is the main waste product. Milk collection icon is the same as for manure, but located on the other side of the barn - do not confuse;

  • Food is slightly different from other animals. Their base food is a mixed diet - 100% effective. To get it, you will have to buy a grinding machine, into which you need to load various bales of crops and useful additives. The machine will display the optimal amount of all ingredients, but you still have to tinker with determining the exact amount of each of the constituent elements. In fact, you need to mix all types of herbs. There is an easier way - as the recommended food, you can use hay - 80% efficiency and grass - 40% efficiency. Combine grass and hay to achieve the same 100%.
Milk is a great product that is easy to sell or use in more complex production. In addition, the older the cows are, the more milk can be collected.

Despite the variety of livestock, the game has a single, understandable system that allows you to manage them. As your production develops, you will be able to buy more advanced equipment that will greatly facilitate your daily routin
