When fighting in Guardians of the Galaxy you have to be creative and use weak points correctly. We'll show you what galactic battles are all about.

Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy: 5 Tips for Better Fighting

In this Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy combat guide, you'll learn:

  • How you deal maximum damage
  • What to watch out for in hand-to-hand combat
  • How you are always right in the huddle

The combat system in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy offers many possibilities, but can quickly become a bit confusing in the heat of the moment . In the following combat guide we explain all the mechanics and how to use them correctly.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Combat Tips - Melee attacks with Star-Lord are rarely effective

You should only go into hand-to-hand combat when it can no longer be avoided. Star-Lord rarely has the upper hand in one-on-one . Some enemies parry most of his blows with ease, while others take no damage at all. If you still manage to defeat an opponent in close combat, you will be rewarded with additional health pick-ups.

To trigger punch and kick combinations, press the square button (PS5) several times. Star Lords attacks only become really effective in combination with other skills such as the “Quill Super Strike” advantage or the elemental shot of wind. You only get the latter late in the game. But you should unlock the Superschlag advantage immediately as soon as you have found enough components.

Memorize Guardian Mode

You open the guard mode with the L1 button (PS5). Target an enemy and hold it down. In the menu that pops up, you then select the guardian you want with the action buttons. Then you choose one of four possible skills that the team member should use. The time slows down a bit while the guard mode is active, but you don't gain much from it.

Therefore, you should definitely learn which skill is on which key. Once you have familiarized yourself with the guardian skills, you can use Groot, Rocket, Drax and Gamora specifically for powerful combinations. These combos become especially important later in the game, when it comes to hordes of enemies or bosses.

Keep an eye on the swing meter

If you use your skills creatively and in a varied way, the swing meter will fill up. If you fight waiting, stay inactive for a while or always use the same actions, it empties again. The fuller the display, the more special actions will be triggered by your companions during the fight. Pops an action button over an opponent, sprints to it and presses it. This triggers a particularly effective special move and receives bonus experience points. So always keep your eyes open.

Make your opponents stagger and use the damage multiplier

Some monsters and soldiers have a second bar under the health display. You only fill this tumbling bar with certain attacks. Staggering attackers are temporarily out of action and take more damage . In addition, you can now use abilities that your opponent was previously immune to.

Certain abilities trigger a damage multiplier on opponents. If they are hit, this appears above the health display. The multiplier can be stacked up to five times and combined with the increased damage while staggering. So it is best to concentrate on one opponent with all Guardians in order to fully exploit these effects. They can be triggered by any guardian.

The stagger indicator can be found right under the red health indicator of the opponent.

Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy: Combat Tips - How does the huddle work?

At the huddle you call all the Guardians together when things get tight and get them back on track with a short motivational speech. When the huddle display is full, press the L1 and R1 buttons simultaneously to start it. Then all Guardians come to you and describe the current situation. You choose during a countdown one of two announcements .

Usually the Guardians come to you in one of two moods: over- motivated or depressed . If they're too excited, bring them down with a reassuring response and encourage them to focus. If they are down, straighten them up again.

When choosing the speech, pay attention to the words that appear in the background . They usually provide useful information about which address is the right one. If the guards are satisfied with your choice, they all receive a short buff and do more damage. If you haven't hit the tune, your companions will go away empty-handed.
