In more recent Pokémon adventures, it is common to choose your pocket monsters as companions in the game world. This nice feature is also found in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. However, this does not work from the start and you have to activate it first. We'll tell you how to get your Pokémon to follow you.
This is how you go for a walk with Pokémon
If you want to explore the world with your Pokémon, you must first win the first two medals and then leave for Herzhofen. There is a lot to discover in the big city. In addition to a competition hall and the Knusperei , there is also the gateway to the Platz der Treue in the north of the city . This is a Pokémon Park that you can enter through the entrances in the north-west or north-east of Herzhofen.
So go into the park, where you will be told that you can take a relaxed walk there with a Pokémon companion. Only your starter Pokémon is eligible to participate , later you can take other pocket monsters with you . In the park you can hold down the minus / plus button so that your monsters can enjoy the time-out independently. If you press minus / plus only briefly, you will call them back to you. At Platz der Loyalty, it is also possible to move the camera with the right stick. If you press the right stick in, you reset the camera.

Let Pokémon run after you and stroke them
When you leave the park after your first outing, your Pokémon will feel so comfortable that it will want to travel with you outside of the park as well. With this you have activated the function and can also select all other Pokémon as companions . To do this, simply open your team menu, click on the Pokémon you want and look for "Choose as companion". It should be mentioned that Pokémon do not follow you in houses or caves.
If you have a Pokémon chasing you, you can always turn around and "stroke" it by pressing the A button. In narrow corridors, your Pokémon can sometimes get in your way. If it doesn't want to go aside, you can just "send it back to the Poké Ball" in the team menu.
