Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl Get and revive fossils

Fossil-type Pokémon are some of the rarer monsters in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. It may take a while before you are allowed to register them all in your Pokédex. In this guide we explain how to get all fossils and how to reanimate the corresponding Pokémon.

This is how you get fossils

Fossils are among the items that you can find during excavations underground . If you haven't received the exploration set yet, you can find out where to get it from the linked guide. Fossils do not appear that often in a wall and are sometimes even very rare. However, if a fossil is included in an excavation, it is relatively easy to find it in the wall, as fossils are very large compared to other treasures .

Since fossils are quite large, it is likely that you will successfully dig them up in the excavation mini-game.

You can excavate the following fossils
  • Aerodactyl
  • Amonitas
  • Kabuto
  • Anorith
  • lilyp
  • Koknodon exclusively in Brilliant Diamond
  • Schilterus exclusively in Shining Pearl

How you resuscitated fossils

Once you have unearthed a fossil, the most difficult step has been taken. Now all you have to do is find the NPC that will revive the fossil Pokémon. To do this, you have to travel to Erzelingen and pay a visit to the mining museum north of the Pokémon Center . Talk to the researcher who is at the reception and he will offer you his services. After you have handed in the fossil, you have to leave the building and can go straight back inside. Talk to the researcher again and you will receive your new Pokémon.
