The Underground is an extensive feature in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. Here you can not only find numerous Pokémon and dig up items, but also set up your own base and meet friends. On your first excursion underground, however, you are sure to ask yourself a few questions. In this guide we try to answer everything that is important.
Unlock the underground
First of all, you should know how to get underground in the first place, because although it's an important feature, in theory you can miss it. You have to enter the underground man's house in Ewigenau, which is to the right of the Pokémon Center . Talk to the old man and he will give you an exploration kit. The best thing to do is to register this basic item so that you can always select it quickly. With the exploration set you can get into the underground from anywhere, which is why the underground is very large. The old man also gives you a brief introduction to this feature.
You will receive the exploration set in Ewigenau from this man. |
Leave underground
This is not a banal question because it never mentions how to get out of the underground again. There's no point in using the exploration set again. Instead, all you have to do is press the Y button . Then an option selection appears, via which you can either fade in the map in large size or just get “to the surface”.
Unlock the secret base
You should do a few excavations underground. Where this is possible, you will be shown on the map with glowing dots. If you are in the vicinity, you can press the R button to send out a signal . The excavation sites then light up more clearly. Then stand in front of the wall and examine the area to complete the digging mini-game.
Once you have done this, you return to the underground man, who will reward you with a disposable drill for completing this task. With this drill you can drill a hole in the wall anywhere in the underground and thus build your base . The location of your base is shown on the map with a red dot. You can only use the disposable drill once. You can buy more drills from dealers in exchange for spheres you find. You can only have one base. If you drill a new hole for your base, the old one disappears.
Place statues in the base
Statues can be found in special chests that you, with luck, will receive during excavations. Enter your base and interact with the ball to the right of the entrance. So you can decorate your base with collected statues. There are over 200 different statues that you can collect . Set up statues can trigger effects by z. B. Certain types of Pokémon appear underground more often. You can also find out which statue effect is active when interacting with the aforementioned ball.

Digdas and 40? What does that mean?
As you walk underground, you will occasionally spot Digdas and Digdris. When you collect the glowing dots, the number of points that is displayed under the minimap increases. Digdas are worth 1 point and Digdris are worth 3 points. The maximum number of points is 40. If you reach 40 points, you will receive a shiny bonus for 4 minutes . The probability that you will encounter a Shiny Pokémon underground doubles (1/2048 instead of 1/4096). It also increases the likelihood that you will find rare statues during excavations. You have to collect the 40 didga points in one session. As soon as you leave the underground, the points are reset.
You don't have to touch the digdas / digdris yourself to get points. The Pokémon leave a shimmer that you have to collect. |
Pokémon hideouts and full map
The underground Pokémon hideouts are initially marked with "?". You have to explore all of the hideouts to reveal them on the map. There are 18 different types of hiding places in which you can find different Pokémon that you can catch. The Pokémon encounters in the hideouts will change when you reach a certain level of progress . After you have received the VMs strength, loosening, cascade and the seventh medal. The biggest change comes when you get the national Pokédex. Then countless rare Pokémon cavort in the underground, such as. B. all starter Pokémon . In the following we show you the complete map with all hidden hiding places.

Where can I find the dealers?
At the vendors you can exchange excavated spheres for various items. There are different types of traders who are underground at certain points. We will add the exact locations soon. But what you can remember is that the traders are always wanderers.
How does the excavation mini-game work?
During an excavation, you look at a wall that hides the treasures from you with several layers of sand, earth and stones. How many treasures you can find is always mentioned at the beginning. You have two tools that you can switch with the R key. The big hammer penetrates the levels faster, but it also damages the wall more , so you can allow yourself fewer hits overall before the wall collapses. It is recommended to first work on the weak spots in the wall with a small hammer. Do not examine areas that are next to each other, but distribute the holes. This increases the likelihood of discovering the items in the wall.
The crack at the top of the screen shows you when the wall will collapse and the mini-game will end. |
