This is how you play the 4 most important characters from Arcane correctly in LoL

League of Legends has attracted some new players with the Netflix series Arcane . We have grabbed the 4 most important characters from the series and created little guides for you so that you know how to unlock them and start playing with them right away.

What is this about? In this guide we would like to introduce you to 4 characters from LoL and explain in short guides how you can start playing with them right away. Because the champions from the series are currently enjoying great popularity .

These guides are aimed primarily at newcomers and not at veterans who like to experiment or want to get the most out of the champions.

Which 4 characters do we introduce you to? We picked out 4 popular characters:

  • Caitlyn - a rather light AD carry
  • Vi - a rather simpler jungler
  • Jinx - a rather heavy AD carry
  • Jayce - a rather medium fighter

Caitlyn - The Sherif of Piltover

What is Caitlyn's role? Caitlyn is a so-called Marksman or AD-Carry. These are usually ranged fighters who can take little but do a lot of damage, especially in the endgame.

With this character you go to the botlane (the lower one on the map) and your goal there is to kill as many vassals as possible with the Last Hit. Because that brings you gold, which you can use to buy useful items.

On the botlane you will normally be supported by a supporter, for example with healing, signs or special skills. So you are not traveling alone.

Caitlyn generally has one of the highest ranges in the game, which makes her a relatively good character for beginners.

Caitlyn - The Sherif of Piltover

How do you unlock Caitlyn? You can purchase Caitlyn for 4,800 Blue Essences (in-game currency) or 880 Riot Points.

What can their skills do? Like most champions, Caitlyn has one passive and four active skills.

Head shot (passive):

  • Your normal attacks generate a headshot stack. When attacking from bushes, there are even 2 stacks. With 6 stacks, she deals bonus damage with her next normal attack. Damage is increased by 100% when hitting targets that don't hit enemy champions.
  • In addition, you always land a headshot when you hit enemies who are affected by the yordle snap trap or the 90 caliber net
Piltover Peacemaker (Q):

  • You aim the rifle for 1 second, then fire a shot that deals physical damage. Any target after the first unit hit takes 60% of the actual damage.
  • Enemies affected by the yordle snap trap or the 90 caliber net always receive 100% of the damage.

Yordle Snap Trap (W):

  • You set a trap at the chosen location, which will be armed after 1.1 seconds. It remains in place for between 30 and 50 seconds, depending on the level.
  • If an enemy steps into the trap, it is held for 1.5 seconds and uncovered for 3 seconds.
  • Caitlyn gets an additional headshot at the target during these 3 seconds.
  • You can have 3 to 5 traps at the same time, depending on your level.
  • Enemies that have run into a trap are immune to further traps for 4 seconds.
Caliber 90 net (E):

  • You fire a net in one direction and move yourself 400 units in the opposite direction.
  • Enemies hit by the net are slowed by 50% for 1 second.

Ace up your sleeve (R):

  • You target an enemy and gain absolute sight for 1 second. The range of this ability is very large at 3,500 units.
  • After that second, a shot is fired, dealing a lot of damage. However, opposing champions can get in the way and intercept the shot.
In which order should you level the skills? You unlock the Q-, then the E- and then the W-Skill first. You also maximize the Q first, then the W and finally the E. You always skill the Ultimate R at levels 6, 11 and 16.

Which Summoner Spells should you choose? Basically, you should take Flash (lightning) with you for teleporting in an emergency situation or to secure kills.

In addition, Heal (healing), Exhaust (exhaustion) or Barrier (barrier) are suitable.

Which runes should you choose? With the runes you choose precision first. There are the runes of the keys:

  • Deadly Tempo (the second)
  • Triumph (the second)
  • Legend bloodthirst (the third)
  • Coup de grace (the first)
Rune number 2 is dominance. Here you choose:

  • Taste of blood (the second)
  • Voracious hunter (first in row 3)
For the general runes you choose:

  • Attack (the second)
  • Offensive (the first)
  • Flex (the second)

Which items are the best?

  • You start the game with “Doran's Blade” and a healing potion.
  • First you work towards the mythical item “Stormwind”. This costs a total of 3,400 gold, but can be bought gradually in individual items. It is important here that you get an active ability with which you can jump in a certain direction and fire projectiles there. You can use it both offensively and defensively.
  • The second item you should get yourself berserker's greaves. This increases your attack speed, but above all your movement speed.
  • As a third item, “The Collector” is particularly suitable. The item increases your attack damage and has the passive effect that you immediately kill enemy champions who fall below 5% health as a result of an attack.
  • Item number 4 is the rapid fire gun. Again, you collect charges that cause additional damage
  • Items number 5 and 6 are “Blade of Infinity” and “Guardian Angel”. However, in very few games you will get to the point where you can buy them.

Gameplay Tips for Caitlyn:

  • In the lane you should especially watch out for last hits and always punish the opponent for getting too close, preferably with a headshot.
  • Set traps in bushes or narrow spaces to trap enemies.
  • If you get into a sticky situation, use your net (E) on the enemy! So you slow him down, push away from him and can also fire a very strong attack on him.
  • In team fights, you should always stand behind and attack enemies from a distance.
  • While tempting, you shouldn't spam the Piltover Peacemaker ability as it uses up a lot of mana that you'd better save for the Net or Ultimate.

Vi - Piltover's enforcer

What is Vi’s role? Vi is a hand-to-hand fighter and is currently mostly played as a jungler in League of Legends. So you move between the different lanes and kill the jungle creatures there to get gold.

As a jungler, it is important that you quickly beat your side of the jungle and then try to support your lanes by attacking them at the right moment. This is called "gank". The right timing plays a major role here

You are also responsible for ensuring that the bosses Dragon and Baron are really defeated by your team. To do this, you have the summoner spell Smite (smash), which causes “True Damage”. So you don't have to do any calculations with armor and resistances, but you inflict exactly the damage that the skill description specifies.

Vi - Piltover's enforcer

How do you unlock Vi? You can purchase Vi for 4,800 Blue Essences (in-game currency) or 880 Riot Points.

What can their skills do? Like most champions, Vi has one passive and 4 active skills.

Shock shield (passive):

  • Each hit with an ability given Vi a shield of 15% of their maximum health that lasts for 3 seconds. This has a recharge time of 12 to 16 seconds, depending on the level.
  • Each time Grinding Lashes are triggered, Shock Shield's cooldown is reduced by 3 seconds.
Rammbock (Q):

  • When pressed: Vi starts charging the attack for up to 4 seconds, which increases the range.
  • When released: Vi sprints in the chosen direction, dealing damage to all targets. However, Vi stops at enemy champions, knocking them back and pulling other enemies in the area towards him. You don't have to wait the full 4 seconds for this.
Grueling Lashes (W):

  • Passive: Basic attacks and Battering Rams create stacks of Grueling Slashes. With 3 stacks these are consumed and cause additional damage
  • Active: For the next 4 seconds, Vi gains additional attack speed and the armor of the targeted enemy is reduced by 20%.
Use of force (E):

  • Passively you get charges from the use of force, up to 2 stacks.
  • You can actively use the stacks to get 50 additional range and additional damage for your next attack.
Assault (R):

  • You choose a target to rush towards. Upon arrival, deal normal damage and throw the enemy into the air for 1.25 seconds.
  • Enemies standing in your path will be pushed aside and also suffer damage in the process.

In which order should you level the skills? You level the W first, then the E and then the Q. However, first bring the Q to the Max level, followed by the E. You level the Ultimate as usual at levels 6, 11 and 16.

Which Summoner Spells should you choose? You use the spells Flash and Smite.

Which runes should you choose? With the runes you choose dominance first. There are the runes of the keys:

  • Hail of blades (the fourth)
  • Sudden impact (the third)
  • Argus' Legacy (the third)
  • Merciless Hunter (the third)
Rune number 2 is precision. Here you choose:

  • Triumph (the second)
  • Legendary Zeal (first in row 2)
For the general runes you choose:

  • Attack (the second)
  • Offensive (the first)
  • Flex (the second)

Which items are the best?

  • You start with the "Embers Knife" as a jungle item and the "Refillable Potion"
  • The first item you buy is the Mythic item “Divine Divide”. This brings damage, life and a useful passive effect that causes your attack to inflict additional damage after using an ability.
  • The second item should then be shoes, in this case the “coated steel toes”. They bring additional armor and movement speed.
  • This is followed by the item “Sterak's level”. This also gives you a shield if your life points drop below 30%.
  • The fifth item can then be offensive (“dance of death”) or defensive (“thorn armor”).
  • As item number 5 and 6 (you then sell the embers) then the respective counterpart of item 4 and “Guardian Angel” or “Black Cleaver” are recommended, depending on what is more useful for the group. “Black hatchet” you use for more damage, “Guardian Angel” for more defensive action.

Vi gameplay tips:

  • In the jungle you should defeat your camps as quickly as possible. You start with the Blue Buff Golem, which brings you level 2. You then kill the frog next door, go over to the wolves that gives you level 3. You go through the midlane to the other side of the jungle and kill the raptors there and the red buff.
  • Since Vi is a very strong jungler at the beginning of the game, you can go to the river after the red buff and kill the crab. There you can meet the opposing jungler and try your hand at the first fight.
  • When you have killed the crab, you are free to decide whether you want to gank a lane, break into the enemy jungle or teleport to the base to buy items.
  • As the game progresses, it's your job to find a good team fight. Depending on the situation, you storm the opposing carry (a champion who deals a lot of damage) or protect the carry from your team.

Jinx - The trigger-happy

What is the role of Jinx? Like Caitlyn, Jinx is a ranged fighter, usually called AD-Carry. Unlike Caitlyn, Jinx has a smaller range and no network to shoot himself to safety.

So you need a little more experience with Jinx in order to pay attention to the correct positioning. For this she rewards you with two different weapons and with a huge rocket as a Utimate, which can fly over the entire map.

How do you unlock Jinx? You can purchase Jinx for 4,800 Blue Essences (in-game currency) or 880 Riot Points (around 8 euros, but you have to buy the 10 euros package).

What can their skills do? Jinx also only has 4 active and one passive ability, but her “Q” is a weapon switch. This affects your car attack.

I'm going crazy (Passive):

  • Whenever Jinx defeats an opposing champion, tower, inhibitor or an epic monster (dragon, baron, herald), she gets 175% additional movement speed for 6 seconds.
Weapon change (Q):

  • You switch between the two weapons Peng Peng and Bone as soon as you activate the ability.
  • While you have Peng Peng equipped, normal attacks will give you additional attack speed for 2.5 seconds. You can collect a maximum of 3 stacks of them.
  • While equipping fishbones, your normal attacks cost mana. For this, your range is increased and you cause 10% additional attack damage. In addition, your attacks cause damage to the units around the enemy hit.
  • If you switch from peng peng to bone, you won't lose your additional attack speed, but the buff will expire after 2.5 seconds at the latest.
Brzl (W):

  • You fire a shock shot that deals normal damage to the enemy and reveals and slows them for 2 seconds.
Flame Eater (E):

  • You throw three grenades that are directly in a row and are armed after 0.7 seconds. They explode on their own after 5 seconds or when they come into contact with an enemy champion.
  • If an enemy runs into the grenades, they will be held for 1.5 seconds and will be damaged. An enemy can only take damage from one of the three grenades.
Super Mega Death Missile (R):

  • You fire a missile that explodes on contact with an enemy champion, dealing a lot of damage. The greater the distance traveled by the missile, the greater the damage. In the explosion, surrounding enemies are also damaged.

In which order should you level the skills? You level the Q first, then the W and then the E. You first maximize the Q, then the W and then the E. You level the Ultimate as usual at levels 6, 11 and 16.

Which Summoner Spells should you choose? Basically, you should take Flash (lightning) with you for teleporting in an emergency situation or to secure kills.

In addition, Heal (healing), Exhaust (exhaustion) or Barrier (barrier) are suitable.

Which runes should you choose? With the runes you choose precision first. There are the runes of the keys:

  • Deadly Tempo (the second)
  • Presence of Mind (the third)
  • Legend bloodthirst (the third)
  • Mow down (the second)
Rune number 2 is dominance. Here you choose:

  • Taste of blood (the second)
  • Voracious hunter (first in row 3)
For the general runes you choose:

  • Attack (the second)
  • Offensive (the first)
  • Flex (the second)

Which items are the best?

  • You start the game with “Doran's Blade” and a healing potion.
  • The first thing you should do is get the Mythic item “Octopus Slayer”. This ensures that every third attack inflicts additional absolute damage.
  • The next item should be the “Berserker Greaves”. They increase your attack and movement speed.
  • As a third item, something with additional attack speed is suitable. Here you have the choice of “Rapid Fire Gun”, which provides additional damage by loading, or “Runaan's Cyclone”, which simultaneously distributes two additional bolts when attacking enemies in the immediate vicinity.
  • Item 4 should then be the “Infinity Blade” for more critical hit damage.
  • Items 5 and 6 are then “bloodthirsters” for stealing life and “Lord Dominik's greetings” for additional damage to enemies with more life.

Jinx Gameplay Tips:

  • Brzl (W) is a good skill in lane for punishing enemies who get too close or not hiding behind their vassals.
  • You can also punish opponents with bone (the other weapon that fires missiles). It has a long range. Be careful not to use the weapon too often, otherwise you will lose all your mana very quickly.
  • If you are ganked by an opposing jungler, use your Flame Eaters (E) to block their path.
  • Use your ultimate ability (R) when the opponents are low on health, it deals a lot more damage. If you see an enemy on the other lanes with little life, try your luck and fire your missile across the map.
  • The additional running speed after the kill on a champion can be used offensively to hunt down further enemies as well as defensively to run away.
  • Make sure that you always stand at the back of the group in team fights and not in the middle of the turmoil, as you have few defensive options.

Jayce - Tomorrow's Defender

What is Jayce's role? Jayce is a type of offensive fighter who can switch between melee and ranged combat. It is usually played in the toplane and is a challenging but manageable character for beginners.

It is important that you are on your own in the toplane. So you have to land good last hits on vassals, but without dying in a direct duel or being surprised by the opposing jungler.

How do you unlock Jayce? You can purchase Jayce for 4,800 Blue Essences (in-game currency) or 880 Riot Points (around 8 euros, but you have to buy the 10 euros package).

What can his abilities do? Jayce is the first champion to have 7 active skills. By changing weapons, the skills Q, W and E change.

Hextech capacitor (passive):

  • Every time Jayce switches between the hammer shape and the cannon shape, he gains additional movement speed for 1.25 seconds.
We'll first introduce you to the skills in hammer form:

Up to Heaven (Q):

  • Jayce sprints to an enemy, dealing physical damage and slowing all nearby enemies for 2 seconds
Blitzfeld (W):

  • Passive: You regenerate mana every time he hits an enemy with normal attacks.
  • Active: You get a lightning shield for 4 seconds that inflicts magical damage to all enemies in the area every second.
Thunderstorm (E):

  • You hit the enemy and deal additional magical damage.
Transformation: Mercuricone (R):

  • You transform the hammer into a cannon and thereby get 500 additional range and your next attack reduces the armor and the magic resistance of the enemy for 5 seconds.
  • The skills in the cannon shape:

Shock Impact (Q):

  • You fire a ball of electricity in the selected direction, dealing normal damage.
  • If the shock blow flies through an acceleration gate, the range, damage and speed of the projectile are increased.
Hyperladung (W):

  • You gain additional attack speed for the next 3 attacks within 4 seconds. You're doing additional damage.
Acceleration gate (E):

  • You place a gate for 4 seconds that grants all allied champions bonus movement speed for 3 seconds when passing through.
Transformation: Mercury Hammer (R):

  • You switch to the hammer and get additional armor and magic resistance. Your next basic attack deals bonus magic damage.

In which order should you level the skills? You level your Q first, then your W and finally your E. You don't even have to level your Ultimate with Jayce, you always have them to choose from. First you maximize the skill Q, then the W and finally the E.

Which Summoner Spells should you choose? You basically choose the flash. Usually the second thing you use is the teleport. In some situations it can be helpful to have Ignite with you for additional damage.

Which runes should you choose? You start with the runes of inspiration:

  • First blow (the third)
  • Magical footwear (the second)
  • Biscuit delivery (the third)
  • Time Warp Tonic (the third)
As the second rune you choose dominance:

  • Taste of blood (the second)
  • Voracious hunter (first in row 3)
For the general runes you choose:

  • Attack (the second)
  • Flexible (the second)
  • Defense (the third)

The runes for Jayce.

Which items are the best?

  • You start with “Doran's Blade” and a healing potion.
  • Then you can already get yourself a “tear of the goddess”.
  • However, the first skill item you build is “Eclipse”. This provides bonus damage if you hit an enemy with 2 attacks or abilities within 1.5 seconds.
  • Then you build your shoes, more precisely “Ionic boots of clarity”. They increase your skill tempo and your movement speed.
  • Third, you upgrade the “tear of the goddess” to “Manamune”.
  • The fourth item is “Serylda's bitterness”. As a result, your skills slow the opponent by 30% for 1 second.
  • Items 5 and 6 are “Yomuu's Spirit Blade”, “Guardian Angel” and “Hem of the Night” - depending on the situation. For beginners we recommend “Guardian Angels”.

Gameplay Tips for Jayce:

  • Jayce is very strong against melee fighters and enemies who can't take a lot.
  • In the laning phase, you should use your long-range combat skills to constantly damage the enemy (so-called “poke”). The combination of acceleration gate and shock shock is very strong, but also very mana-intensive. Use them consciously.
  • Jayce has to be played aggressively and offensively in the lane, otherwise there is a risk of falling behind.
  • You are weaker in team fights. You have to consciously “prepare” the team fight for your team. Use your ranged combat skills E + Q to keep the health of the enemy nice and low. Make sure you don't lose all of your mana in the process.
  • Jayce is very good at destroying the towers. When your team gathers in the middle, see if you'd rather push other lanes and attack the towers. That will split up the enemy team because if they don't defend their towers you will quickly destroy them. This is called split pushing.
  • With split pushing, you should always be ready to use the “teleport” to quickly join your team when a team fight begins.
