Have you decided to give Final Fantasy XIV (Final Fantasy 14) a try, but are not sure which job to play? Welcome to our overview of jobs in the Square Enix MMORPG.
Final Fantasy XIV now offers its players 17 different jobs. They all have their background story, idiosyncrasies and will not always please everyone.
In this guide we give you a general overview of the jobs in FFXIV, how they work in their core at the maximum level (80) and for which type of player they are recommended.
With the Endwalker add-on, two new jobs will come into play: Reaper and Sage (Sage). Our author was able to test them both during the Endwalker press tour. Here you will find the impressions and information about the function of the new jobs:
- Impressions to the wise
- Impressions of the reaper
Classes? Jobs? What is the difference?
How does the class / job system work? You start the game by choosing a class for your character. This becomes the desired job from level 30.
So if you want to play a black magician, you have to reach Lvl 30 with the thaumaturge and complete all class quests. You will then receive a job crystal that you can put on like an item of equipment.
It is extremely important to always use your Job Crystal in battles!
Without the job crystal, you will lack most of the skills that are essential in combat. So FFXIV's combat system is about jobs, not classes. The classes are therefore not dealt with in this guide, as they are only used by the players for a short time.
The Final Fantasy XIV meta and how it works
How do the jobs work in the Final Fantasy XIV raid meta? Basically, the developers of Final Fantasy XIV adhere to the basic rule that any raid can be accomplished with any meaningful combination of jobs, i.e.:
- 2 different tanks
- 2 different healers
- 4 DDs: magicians, close-range and long-range fighters
The raid battles in FFXIV are therefore designed around this design philosophy.
This means that all jobs are raid-eligible in and of themselves. However, the practice is not as smooth as the theory would like it to be and there are certain preferences within the roles. Often it is because these jobs provide more "utility" to the group. This means that through their exclusive skills they can reinforce the rest of the group.
If you want to raid hardcore: Especially in the hardcore raiding scene and speed runs, certain jobs are more likely to be accepted than others. If you are or want to be in this scene, you often have to be able to play several jobs of a role at a high level. The flexibility is necessary to adapt to the new meta as soon as there are balance tweaks and changes.
The scholar has been a sought-after job since his introduction at the beginning of “A Realm Reborn” to this day. Astrologers, on the other hand, only became “socially acceptable” among healers after several patches and massive buffs.
What does that mean for me as a new player? For the newcomers, it doesn't really matter which job they choose. After you can learn all jobs with one character in Final Fantasy XIV, you can just go for what is the most fun.
You can keep this setting up to level 80. Nobody is going to kick you out of a dungeon or exam for playing a job that isn't part of the current meta.
In the raiding area, however, it will happen that players with certain jobs will have difficulties finding a static seat or will be asked directly whether they could change their main class for the raid.
Final Fantasy XIV: Tank-Jobs
The task of the tanks in Final Fantasy XIV is traditionally to be the group’s protective shield.
But tanks are not a completely defensive role. While keeping your opponents aggro and reducing damage taken will be your top priority, getting good DPS is no less important.
Especially in raids, the tanks also make sure that they deliver good damage figures. So if you intend to take a look at the endgame of FFXIV, then be prepared that high damage is expected from tanks as well.
Paladin
|
Job-specific armor of the paladin from the addon Shadowbringers |
Weapon: sword and shield
Where can you unlock the Paladin?
- Location: Ul'dah, Thal cloister (X: 9.2 / Y: 11, 7)
- NPC: Lulutsu
- Job Quest: Free Paladin
- Requirements: Basic class Gladiator at level 30 and the completion of all class quests
What's the Paladin's story? Clad in shining armor and armed with swords and shields, paladins have been loyal protectors of the rulers of the city-state of Ul'dah for centuries.
They sprang from a small group of skilled and faithful fighters chosen by the first sultan of Ul'dah to serve him. Since then her martial art has been passed on and refined to new generations.
Today they stand by the side of the Sultana Nanamu Ul Namo as the loyal guard and have recently also accepted normal adventurers into their ranks, who are characterized by particular bravery.
How does the gameplay work at level 80? The basic rotation of the paladin revolves around the two skills Requiescat (magic buff) and boldness (physical buff).
This causes you to switch back and forth between physical and magical attacks in combat.
- If your MP is full and the Buff Requiescat is available, you spam the Holy Spirit or Holy Circle spells and complete the combo with the Finisher Confiteor.
- When audacity is ready and you don't have full MP, you use your physical sword combos with the DoT “Eviscerate” and the strong finisher skill “Absolution”. This can and should be used 3 times.
Your resource bars are shown on the oath bar. The bar fills up with every successful auto-attack you carry out.
|
The paladin's job bar with the resource for the use of defensive skills. |
From 50 points you can use the defensive skills Schiltron and Cover, for example to intercept heavy boss attacks that would otherwise kill you immediately.
How popular is the endgame job? Thanks to their strong defensive abilities and solid DPS of their own, the paladins were represented during patch 5.4 in a large part of the groups that organize speed runs in the endgame content.
Also in the ranks of the raiders who run the heaviest current Alexander Ultimate content , paladins are common for the same reasons.
Hardcore groups looking for efficiency will often choose a paladin over other tanks. Assuming that the skills of the players are about the same and the group does not yet have a paladin.
Who is the paladin for? The job is ideal for anyone who wants to try refueling in FFXIV, but doesn't quite dare to. It is easy to understand and very robust.
Even players who later want to do a lot of hardcore raiding can't go wrong with the Paladin. Tanks are always very popular in group content, whether in small dungeons or epic raids.
Pros
- Beginner friendly tank
- Starke defensive Cooldowns
- Nice skill animations
Cons
- Not a challenge for experienced tank players
- The job story is not very exciting
Krieger
|
Job-specific armor of the warrior from the addon Shadowbringers |
Weapon: ax
Where can you unlock the warrior?
- Location: Limsa Lominsa, Upper Decks (X: 11.2 / Y: 6.1)
- NPC: Wyrnzoen
- Job Quest: The Mountain Warrior
- Requirements: Basic class Marauder at level 30 and the completion of all class quests
What's the story of the warrior? At a time when Eorzea was shaken by constant violent conflicts between its inhabitants, the warriors were among the most feared opponents on the battlefield.
Armed with great axes, they have spread death and destruction, often even among their allies. Because not every warrior could keep the beast under control and became berserk.
As a result, there are only a few warriors left today. It is said that they can still be found somewhere in the mountains of Abalathia.
How does the gameplay work at level 80? At the center of the warrior gameplay are the two powerful attacks of mowing down and decimating.
|
The warrior's job bar with the resource primal power |
The attacks cost the resource primal power, which is generated by using combos. The warrior alternates between two combos in his rotation:
- Stormbreaker Combo: Gives the warrior a “+ 10% attack” buff, which must be kept as constant as possible
- Stormcreel combo: Fills the elemental force bar more strongly
The goal of your rotation in combat is to use combos to collect as much primal power as possible in order to be able to use mowing down and decimating more often.
Two warrior buffs will also help you with this:
- Battle cry instantly gives you 50 points of primal power
- Primary liberation ensures that mowing down and decimating do not consume primitive power for 10 seconds and can be spammed like crazy.
How popular is the endgame job? If you look at the composition of the groups that are currently (Patches 5.4) doing Speedruns and Alexander Ultimate, you will only find a few warriors among them.
In the top 50 of the groups who launched the new Eden raid, there are only between 5% - 10% warriors in the tanks, in the Alexander raid it looks a little better with 22%. After the hardcore endgame job was a must have for years, it is no longer in demand.
However, this only applies to the highest and heaviest type of content. The warrior is everywhere in epic raids of Eden. Tanks are generally in short supply in FFXIV, especially good ones. A well-done warrior will find a place in a normal raiding group even if he is not currently part of the hardcore meta.
Who is the warrior interesting for? The job is interesting for players who would like to try out refueling, but who still have the heart of a DD. The warrior is also a beginner-friendly tank and is great for players who like to ram an ax in the face of an opponent while defending.
Mowing down is also a skill that feels really satisfying to perform. You can feel that your opponent has just eaten massive damage and it's great.
Pros
- Beginner-friendly tank
- Attacks feel pretty massive
- Gute defensive Cooldowns
Cons
- Not a challenge for experienced players
- Excellent self-healing is heavily nerfed in Endwalker
Dark Knight
|
Job-specific armor of the dark knight from the addon Shadowbringers |
Weapon: great sword
Where can you unlock the Dark Knight?
- Location: Ishgard, Buttress (X: 13.2 / Y: 8.8)
- NPC: Ishgardian Citizen
- Job Quest: You should give way to corpses
- Requirements: Ownership of the “Heavensward” expansion and completion of the main scenario of “A Realm Reborn”
What is the story of the dark knight? The inhabitants of Ishgard only dare to speak about the Dark Knights in a whispered tone.
They are feared and demonized by the nobles and the clergy. They make use of the dark forces and do not obey any laws that prevail in the city-state because these laws only serve corruption and greed.
For the poor people on the street, however, dark knights are the real heroes who protect them from the arbitrariness and injustice of the authorities. And take terrible vengeance.
How does the gameplay work at level 80? In contrast to other tanks, the Dark Knight only has a single combo, so you have to manage three important resources at the same time in battle:
- Where
- darling broke
- and the timer from "Dark Side"
Dark side is a buff that reinforces your attack and should always be kept running. You do this by repeatedly using the Shadow Blade or Shadow Tide skills.
They generally cost a lot of mana, which the dark knight also needs for his defensive ability Darkest Night. This creates a strong shield that can intercept heavy boss attacks.
|
The Dark Knight's Resource Bar: Below is the Shadow Blood meter. At the top right the timers for dark side (purple) and shadow scheme (red). |
If the shield is broken by an attack, the Dark Knight receives a buff that completely removes the MP cost of using the Shadow Blade and Flood.
The shadow blood resource is required for the two strong attacks of the dark knight, Bloodshed and Quietus, as well as the cooldown shadow scheme. These skills are important for the burst phase, when you deal the most damage.
Both mana and Shadowblood are generated by the Dark Knight's only combo.
How popular is the endgame job? The popularity of this tank varies depending on the content you are running. While he is in third place in the new Eden raid with an average frequency of 15%, he fought his way to first place in the ultimate boss fight Alexander. He is represented in about 29.5% of the groups.
As a dark knight you have solid chances if you can show good job skills and want to try your hand at the high-end game. In epic content, the meta plays a lesser role and tanks are always in demand. So you shouldn't have much trouble finding a group.
For whom is the dark knight interesting? In contrast to the first two tanks, the dark knight is more suitable for advanced players who want to try something new.
So if you are looking for a challenge and are not afraid to manage 3 resources at the same time, then give the job a try. Although it only has one combo, it is not as simple as it appears at first glance.
The Dark Knight is also considered to be the job with the best story job quests. So it's ideal for lore junkies who like well-written characters and provides really great reading material.
Pros
- Good tank for experienced players
- Good shields for intercepting tankbusters
- Really good job story
Cons
- Many resources can overwhelm beginners
- Just a physical combo
Revolverklinge
|
Job-specific armor from Revolver Blade from the Shadowbringers addon |
Weapon: Gunblade
Where can you unlock the revolver blade?
- Ort: Neu-Gridania (X: 11.5 / Y: 11.9)
- NPC: Sincere soldier of Nophica's band
- Job Quest: The Lost Gunblade
- Requirements: possession of the Shadowbringers expansion and at least one warrior or magician job at level 60.
What is the history of the revolver blade? Although the revolver blades use gunblades as their weapons, they have nothing in common with the weapons used by the soldiers of the imperial empire.
Originally, the revolver blades were the powerful bodyguard of the Hrothgar Queen Gunnhildr. Their weapons enabled them to use magical orbs to defeat their enemies and protect their queen.
After Garlemald conquered the Hrothgar town of Bozja , the martial art of the revolver blade was almost forgotten, as only a few fighters of the life guards survived the battle.
How does the gameplay work at level 80? At the core of your rotation in combat is a combo that can vary in length. The length of this combo depends on the ability flapping catches.
If slap catches are available, the combo will be longer (6 steps total). The skills of the “trigger sequence” are woven into the individual skills of the combo. That means you use the combo ability and while the global cooldown is running, you immediately use a trigger sequence that is automatically available.
|
Job display of the revolver blade with an ethereally charged bullet of a maximum of 2 |
But if the cooldown of the slap catches is still running, you end the combo directly with a final skill: Either with an explosive shock or a circle of fate.
Both require ammunition, but this is generated directly by the normal use of the combo. A final skill is therefore always available to you.
How popular is the endgame job? The popularity of Revolverblade also seems to fluctuate, depending on which raid we look into. While it is the most common tank in the current Eden raid, it slips down to last place in Ultimate Alexander, far behind Paladin and Dark Knight and even after the rather unpopular warrior.
As a tank, revolver blades generally find a place in epic raids. The strict meta of the hardcore endgame plays a rather subordinate role there and good tanks are always sought after.
Who is Revolver Blade for? This tank is also more for more experienced players who have already had one or two boss fights. Revolverblade is something for you if you like challenges and speed, because the job feels more dynamic than the sometimes lazy dark knight.
The job is also a small homage to Final Fantasy VIII, in which the Gunblade weapon first appeared. The names of the skills also come from the old RPG. So if you're a fan of the classic, the job will bring you a lot of nostalgia.
Pros
- Good raid damage
- Simple resource management
- Good tank for more experienced players
Cons
- Bad invulnerability skill
- Not a good defense against Tankbuster
- Not easy for beginners
Final Fantasy XIV: Healer Jobs
As the name suggests, healers are responsible for ensuring that the group does not collectively bite the grass. In return, they all have a wide range of strong healing and protective abilities.
Similar to the tanks, the same applies to the healers in Final Fantasy XIV that they can cause damage. While it is not absolutely necessary at low levels and in casual content, in endgame and raiding you are expected to do damage in addition to healing.
When choosing your healer, keep in mind that you will not only spam healing magic all the time, but also one or the other damaging spell.
White mage
|
Job-specific armor from the white mage from the Shadowbringers add-on |
Weapon: magic rod
Where can you unlock the white mage?
- Location: Alt-Gridania (X: 6.0 / Y: 10.6)
- NPC: E-Sumi-Yan
- Job Quest: Guardian of Tradition
- Requirements: Basic class Druid at level 30 and the completion of all class quests
What is the story of the white mage? Developed many centuries ago during the Great War of the Magi, white magic was originally intended to defend the city-state of Amdapor from its enemies.
After Amdapor went down in the floods of the sixth catastrophe, white magic also disappeared from the scene for a long time. Only many years later, the powerful elements of the Dark Forest allowed a select few to practice white magic.
These white mages, Padjal, became the leaders of the new city-state of Gridania and carried out the will of the elementals.
How does the gameplay work at level 80? The white mage is a "power" healer whose abilities are generally divided into two groups:
- Strong healing skills with and without preparation time
- “Healing-over-Time” skills (HoTs) that automatically and continuously restore HP after use
In general, the HoTs will be one of your most important tools in combat. They help you to regenerate the group's HP over a longer period of time when there is no further damage.
The instant skills are your first choice when you need to heal the group or a tank as quickly as possible or it will die.
|
In battle, the white mage collects the lily resource. The blue ones enable strong healing magic, the red a strong attack spell |
As a white mage you collect the resource lilies in combat, of which you can have up to 3 pieces at the same time. These lilies are consumed through the use of the Afflatus Solatii and Laetitiae skills. Both abilities are powerful healing spells that have no preparation time and also do not consume mana.
After you have used one of the two lily skills 3 times, you can use the powerful AOE attack “Afflatus Misaeriae”, which is an important part of the white mage's DPS.
How popular is the endgame job? The white mage has slipped to the last place among the healers in the current Eden raid. It only appears in around 20% of high-end game groups. He can't give the group as many buffs as an astrologer or scholar. In the Alexander Ultimate rankings, however, he still holds first place because his raw healing power is still necessary there.
In general, however, applies to both ultimate and epic raid content. Groups looking for healers will never say no to a good white mage. Unless of course they already have one.
Who is the white mage interesting for? If you want to try healing in an MMORPG, then the job is the perfect choice for you.
The white mage is easy to use and has a really strong set of skills that will keep the group alive. This means that even beginners who have never had anything to do with healing will hardly have any problems getting through the content.
White mage is also a really nice job, so if looks are important to you, then this is for you.
Pros
- Very strong healing
- Lots of off-global cooldowns for quick healing
- Good MP management
Cons
- No utility skills that strengthen the group
- Not very mobile
Scholar
|
Job-specific armor from the scholar from the Shadowbringers add-on |
Weapon: book
Where can you unlock the Scholar?
- Location: Limsa Lominsa, Lower Decks (X: 4.5 / Y: 11.2)
- NPC: Murie
- Job Quest: Journey into the Past
- Requirements: Basic class Hermetic at level 30 and the completion of all class quests
What is the scholar's story? In order to be able to defend themselves against their powerful enemies, who had both black and white magic, the leaders of the small nation of Nym had to come up with something new.
With the few resources they had, they developed their own type of magic to aid their armies in battle. The scholars who could use this magic were highly respected strategists and military leaders. Each of them had their own fairy who stood by their side.
But this magic could not save Nym from a terrible plague, nor from the fifth catastrophe and the knowledge of the scholars disappeared almost completely in the fog of history.
How does the gameplay work at level 80? The Scholar's Toolbox revolves around his Aether Flow ability and Fairy.
Each time you use Aether Flow, you gain three Resource Charges on your Job Bar. You need these to use various powerful abilities that heal the group or protect them from harm.
|
The lower resource bar shows the aether flow charges, the upper one the collected points of the fairy bar |
Skills that consume aether flow charges fill your second resource, the fairy bar, by 10 points each. You need these points in order to use the skills Aether Pact and Favor of the Fairies. The number of points on the fairy bar also determines the duration of the healing through the Aetheric Pact.
The scholar's gameplay is based on planning one step ahead as a healer and using his aether-flow charges in a targeted manner in combat.
The fairies themselves are your supporters and can heal the group or reduce the damage they suffered. They should therefore be with you on the battlefield whenever possible.
For a short time you can even summon a seraph with stronger healing and protective abilities. But for that you send your normal fairy away.
How popular is the endgame job? The scholar is one of the few jobs that has always held its place in heavy endgame content since the game was released. In the ultimate Alexander raid, they often have to give up their place to astrologers. In the current Eden raid, however, they are doing well.
The scholar's shields, his support skills and the fairy have always made sure that the job was welcome in raid groups. And in patch 5.4 it doesn't look like that will change drastically anytime soon.
For whom is the scholar job interesting? The scholar is a double-edged sword and interesting for players who may not know FFXIV, but are already veterans of healers in other MMORPGs.
It is in itself a novice-friendly job that works well for novice healers. At the beginning you will be supported mainly by your fairy in the fight and you can slowly play your way into the job. At higher levels the scholar gets an additional level of complexity and becomes more strategic through his Aether Flow stacks.
Pros
- Strong shields
- Fee as a support healer
- Good DPS for a healer
Cons
- Not easy to master for beginners
- Weak healing over time healing
- The orders to the fairy can spin
astrologer
|
Job-specific armor of the astrologer from the add-on Shadowbringers |
Weapon: astro globe
Where can you unlock the astrologer?
- Location: Ishgard, Buttress (X: 15.2 / Y: 10.0)
- NPC: Jannequinard
- Job Quest: Call of Fate
- Requirements: Own the “Heavensward” expansion and complete the main scenario of “A Realm Reborn”.
What is the story of the astrologer? The constellations in the night sky have immense power within them. The ability to synchronize the ether in his body with the stars gave the researchers from Sharlayan the ability to see into the future.
With the help of the cards from tarot decks, which were previously ridiculed, the astrologers can now influence the outcome of a fight. The toys suddenly became a powerful weapon, making these magicians irreplaceable in battles.
But the Sharlayers withdrew from the affairs of Eorzea, isolated themselves, and took all their knowledge with them.
How does the gameplay work at level 80? A peculiarity of the astrologer compared to the other two healers are his two attitudes:
- Diurnal for "Healing-over-Time" (HoTs)
- Nocturnal for shields
You can switch between them before the fight and thereby adapt to your respective healer partner in the raid. If a scholar is the second healer in the group, one changes to the diurnal position, with the white mage it is the nocturnal.
The second specialty of the job are its cards. The astrologer can draw up to 4 cards in a row during combat, with which he can strengthen himself and the group.
Some cards are more effective when given to a melee, while others work better when given to a mage or ranged fighter.
|
The astrologer's resource bar with all the symbols of divination |
Each card also bears one of the three symbols of divination: sun, moon, or star. When you play a card, its divination symbol will appear on your Arcana job bar. When all 3 symbols have been collected, you can use the Divination ability, which strengthens your whole group.
In combat, in addition to healing, you are also always busy playing cards and collecting divination symbols to give your group attack boosts.
How popular is the class in the endgame? In patch 5.1 Astrologe was in a difficult situation when it came to places in high-end content. He went through major changes at the beginning of Shadowbringers, which met with criticism from many players.
Although the astrologer still has to share his healing place in the Alexander groups with the scholar in patch 5.4, he appears in over 40% of the groups that do the Eden Raid. So its popularity in the epic content has increased.
Astro is not an absolutely lousy job, white mages and scholars fill this role in the ultimate content just better. But if you “only” want to run Savage Raids, then you will also find a group with the astrologer, as you can see from the numbers.
Who is the astrologer interesting for? When it comes to beautiful magic effects, hardly any other job in FFXIV can hold a candle to the astrologer. So if you enjoy healing and just want to look fabulous while doing it, Astro is the perfect option.
But the job is also exciting for people who are looking for a challenge. The healer role already brings a lot of responsibility with it. With the astrologer you always have to keep an eye on your cards and use them optimally in combat. This can get really tough in hectic FFXIV fights.
Pros
- Very flexible in use
- Good utility skills to strengthen the group
- High mobility thanks to many oGCD capabilities
Cons
- Low own DPS
- The RNG of the cards can be annoying
Final Fantasy XIV: Melee Jobs
With the attackers or DDs, the name says it all. It is your job to deal as much damage as possible and kill the opponents as quickly as possible.
On this page you will be introduced to the melee fighters who have to be right next to the opponent in order to cause damage. Their basic rotation consists of combos and the skills often have positional requirements. They must be done from behind or from the side.
Dragoon
|
Job-specific armor of the Dragoon from the add-on Shadowbringers |
Weapon: spear
Where can you unlock the Dragoon?
- Location: Alt-Gridania (X: 14.3 / Y: 5.8)
- NPC: Ywain
- Job Quest: The Eye of the Dragon
- Requirements: Basic class Pikeman at level 30 and the completion of all class quests
What's the story of the dragoon? The war between the nation of Ishgard and the dragons has raged for 1000 years. In order to protect themselves from the hordes of the dragon Nidhogg, the Ishgardians have formed a group of elite fighters.
The Dragoons are perfectly equipped to pierce the thick scales of the beasts with their spear in the fight against the dragons. Should a dragoon be eaten by a dragon, the spikes on its armor will ensure that it becomes its last meal.
But it wasn't always like that. Rumor has it that a long time ago the Dragoons served a completely different task.
How does the gameplay work at level 80? At the center of the Dragoon rotation is the "Power of the Dragon" buff, which is activated by the "Dragon Heart" ability. It gives your jumps more attack power and is immensely important for the damage of the dragon.
This happens when you completely complete the dragon's combos. The last two combo steps fan thrust and catch and claw extend this buff again and again. The combo rotation then starts all over again.
|
Left: The Dragoon's job bar with the ticking buff “Power of the Dragon”. Right: The bar when Dragon Spirit is active. |
After each high jump, one of the iconic skills of the dragon, you can use the illusion jump. If this happens twice, the “Power of the Dragon” buff changes to the “Dragon Spirit” buff.
Dragon Spirit is then triggered by the Geirskogul ability and enables the use of powerful abilities for a short time that are otherwise not accessible.
The core of the Dragoon gameplay consists of keeping the dragon's power running as uninterruptedly as possible and triggering the dragon spirit as often as possible in order to use the strong skills.
How popular is the endgame job? Towards the end of patch 5.4, the Dragoon gave up his melee position in the Eden Raid to the samurai and ninja. Only about every fifth group in the top rankings has a dragoon with them. In the Alexander Raid, however, he is still number 1 of the most common melee jobs.
So if a group is looking for any melee for endgame content, you will have a good chance as a Dragoon. Even if the chances of this in epic raids are a bit lower.
Who is the Dragoon for? If you are not afraid to look death in the eye every day, then the Dragoon is ideal for you. The job's jumping abilities have proven to be a killer in the past due to its animation lock freezing the Dragoons in AOE attacks.
The duration of the animation has been greatly reduced, but a good dragoon must always know when it is smart to use its jump and when not. That makes the job crisp.
Dragoon is also one of the traditional jobs in Final Fantasy. Many popular characters from previous games are dragons. So if you want to be as cool as Cain from FFIV, this is your job.
Pros
- Good ultility skills to strengthen the group
- Rotation interesting for experienced players
- Often taken along in raids
Cons
- Animation lock causes death
- Errors lead to a high loss of DPS
monk
|
Job-specific armor of the monk from the addon Shadowbringers |
Weapon: mittens
Where can you unlock the monk?
- Location: Ul'dah, Nald Cloister (X: 9.4 / Y: 10.2)
- NPC: Gagaruna
- Job Quest: Duo with four fists
- Requirements: Green class pugilist at level 30 and the completion of all class quests
What is the story of the monk? Iron discipline and hard training were the basic principles of the order “Rhalgr's Faust”. For centuries, the monks were an elite group of the Ala Mhigo kingdom and also exercised political influence.
Until the mad King Theodric attacked the headquarters of the Order in a night ambush. Almost all monks, young or old, were slaughtered in the attack.
But there were a few who managed to escape. They hide themselves and trust no one, but in them the valuable knowledge about the martial arts of the order lives on.
How does the gameplay work at level 80? The monk's gameplay is divided into three areas. The first of these are its three forms:
You can only use the combos in the rotation that are allowed by the current form. The rotation therefore begins without a shape and you switch to the next shape with each attack.
The combo attacks also have positional requirements. They become a lot stronger and receive additional buffs if they hit the enemy from behind, for example.
|
The monk's job bar with all chakras (yellow circles) |
The monk also collects shadow chakras in combat, up to 5 pieces. As soon as all 5 have been collected through meditation or attacks, the monk can use strong attacks such as the Forbidden Chakra or Path to Enlightenment.
As a monk, you have to make sure in combat that you meet the positional requirements and that you use the chakra attacks in between.
How popular is the endgame job? Monks have been in a difficult situation since patch 5.4. This job is rarely found in both ultimate and epic raid content.
Although the class does a lot of damage and also has support skills that support the group, the competition among the melee fighters is strong. But cheer up, especially in the epic Eden Raid, all jobs can be used without any problems.
For whom is the monk of interest? If the slow global cooldown of FFXIV annoyed you while playing, then the monk is ideal for you. In the end game he is one of the fastest jobs that require nimble fingers and good reflexes.
The many positional requirements of the combos give the job additional flavor. He's definitely one of the more sophisticated attackers in Final Fantasy 14.
Pros
- Good utility skills for the group
- Rotation interesting for experienced players
- The fastest of all jobs
Cons
- Many positional requirements for skills
- Errors in rotation lead to a high loss of DPS
Ninja
|
Job-specific armor of the ninja from the addon Shadowbringers |
Weapon: daggers
Where can you unlock the ninja?
- Location: Limsa Lominsa, Lower Decks (X: 8.1 / Y: 16.5)
- NPC: Jack
- Job Quest: The Secret Power of Ninjutsu
- Requirements: Basic villain class at level 30 and the completion of all class quests
What's the ninja’s story? The origins of the ninja go back many centuries and come from the distant Hingashi. Torn by wars and conflicts, the country was the ideal breeding ground for the birth of a new martial art.
We do not know who the first creator of it was, if it existed at all, but the skills of the ninjas found widespread use on the continent of Othard.
Children were raised in the tradition of the art of war and entire families made a name for themselves as excellent fighters. It was only a matter of time before the tales of ninjas reached Eorzea.
How does the gameplay work at level 80? At the center of ninja gameplay are its three mudra skills:
- Ten (heaven)
- Chi (earth)
- Jin (life)
They are used one after the other in quick succession and depending on their order they give the Ninjutsu skill different effects.
If the mudras are properly combined, they cause powerful single or area attacks through ninjutsu, debuff your opponents or strengthen your character. The Buff Huton is one such mudra skill.
|
The resource bar on the left shows you your Ninki, on the right is the timer for the remaining time of the Huton Buff |
It increases the attack speed of the character and should be kept active as long as possible. This is done by using one of the ninja’s two combos: it ends with the Harness Breaker ability and adds 30 seconds to Huton's timer.
The ninja’s second combo that ends with the Aeolus Blade skill is the damage combo. She is stronger than harness breaker and is used while Huton is ticking.
Ninjas also have their own resource: the ninki bar fills up by performing the two combos above. As soon as it is filled, you gain access to strong abilities such as the double self or the wheel of becoming.
How popular is the endgame job? After the ninjas received a decent buff in patch 5.2, they are back at the top when it comes to raid content. In both Alexander and Eden raids, most groups have a ninja with them.
In addition to the damage boost, the job also brings good support for the group. With the trick attack, he weakens the opponent's defense so that the entire group deals more damage for a short time.
Who is the ninja interesting for? Along with the monk, the ninja is one of the two fastest jobs in FFXIV. So if you like speed, but don't feel like the many positional demands of the monk, then ninja is your job.
Fans of the Far Eastern optics will also feel comfortable with the ninja. The equipment and skills of the job make it feel like a cool acrobatic fighter.
Pros
- Good group utility skills
- 2nd fastest job
- Good raid DPS
Cons
- Ping can be a problem for mudras
- Errors in rotation lead to a high loss of DPS
- The opener is complex
samurai
|
Job-specific armor of the samurai from the addon Shadowbringers |
Weapon: katana
Where can you unlock the samurai?
- Location: Ul'dah, Nald Cloister (X: 9.2 / Y: 9.1)
- NPC: Upset Ul'dahner
- Job Quest: The Way of the Samurai
- Requirements: possession of the “Stormblood” expansion and at least one combat job at level 50
What's the story of the job? The word samurai comes from the verb “saburau”, which means “to serve”. The samurai are also loyal servants who dedicate their lives to their warlords and die for them.
During the wars for power in Hingashi, samurai went to battle for their masters and received rewards and privileges for their services on the battlefield.
After the country was finally united under one banner, the samurai became protectors of the people. And at some point the stories about their martial arts reach the furthest corners of the world.
How does the gameplay work at level 80? The samurai's gameplay is divided into two areas. The first of these are his three combos and the resource Sen.
Each of the three combos gives a different Sen after completion:
- Yukikaze combo gives setsu
- Kasha combo gives Ka
- Gekko combo gives Jinpu
They are required to be able to use strong Iaido skills. Depending on how many Sen you have already collected, the Iaijutsu skill becomes either a DoT, an AOE or an extremely strong attack.
|
The three sen and the kenki bar of the samurai |
The second resource of the samurai is kenki. It is also generated for performing combos and is required to perform the many Hissatsu skills.
Most Hissatsu skills deal different amounts of damage, but they can also have other effects:
- They bring you towards the opponent or away from him (movement skills)
- Boost your attack power additionally
- Cause strong individual or AOE damage
Since all Hissatsu skills consume Kenki, they have to be used carefully and depending on the situation in order to get the most out of the job.
As a samurai, you will be busy doing your combos in combat to collect Sen and Kenki and make sure that you use the resources wisely to cause high damage
How popular is the endgame job? Towards the end of the Shadowbringers expansion, the samurai have seen a surge in popularity among raid groups. It is the second most common melee used in Eden raids, even though the samurai has no support skills for the group.
Only in the ultimate Alexander raid does he slip to 3rd place. The samurai compensates for his deficiencies in the support area with massive damage output.
For whom is the samurai interesting? You want to get high damage numbers, but don't feel like mage classes? Then Samurai is perfect for you. Among the melee jobs, he does the highest self-damage and can deal well with his midare skill.
The job is also a good choice for people who love Far Eastern aesthetics. It was designed entirely in the tradition of the Japanese samurai and the developers based the design of the skills on correct Iaido.
Pros
- Highest DPS of any melee
- Easy to learn
- Exciting job story
Cons
- No utility skills for the group
- A slow melee fighter
Final Fantasy XIV: The Magician Jobs
In the ranks of the magicians you will find the classic jobs from the Final Fantasy series. Much of their skills have a certain amount of preparation time. If the mage moves during this time, the spell will be broken.
It is therefore a question of stationary DDs. Even if they have skills that enable them to do magic while running, magicians still tend to be reluctant to move. You should be prepared for this if you want to try out this role.
Black magician
|
Job-specific armor of the black mage from the add-on Shadowbringers |
Weapon: wand
Where can you unlock the black mage?
- Location: Ul'dah, Nald Cloister (X: 7.3 / Y: 12.4)
- NPC: Yayake
- Job Quest: Whoever Hears the Voice
- Requirements: Basic class thaumaturge at level 30 and the completion of all class quests
What is the story of the black mage? When the powerful magician Shatotto created the very first spell that heralded the birth of black magic, she had no idea that it would become an instrument of indescribable suffering and destruction.
In a great war, the mages of Mhach ruthlessly used black magic and devastated the land. It all ended in a flood disaster that destroyed Mhach and made black magic a forbidden art.
But prohibitions are not an obstacle for those who thirst for knowledge. Many centuries after the catastrophe, there are now rumors of adventurers who have dared to revive the forgotten black magic.
How does the gameplay work at level 80? Basically, the gameplay of the black magician revolves around the constant change between the two elementary aspects:
- Fire of Light - Boosts fire spells and increases the consumption of mana
- Shadow ice - allows mana to be regenerated
When you use fire spells, you get the state of light fire, which can be enhanced up to three times. It is slowly ticking down on the timer and is refreshed with the use of most of the fire spells.
If you cast an ice spell during this time, the light fire is dissolved or replaced directly by the shadow ice condition and the MP regeneration is extremely increased. Shadow ice is also slowly ticking down and has to be refreshed again and again with ice magic.
While one of the two states is active, you can use the Enochian ability, which is the second important aspect of the black mage rotation.
|
The black mage's job bar with all its resources. |
Enochian strengthens your magic by 15% and lasts as long as you keep fire of light and shadow ice going. It also allows the use of other powerful spells and starts its own timer.
Every 30 seconds, Enochian gives you the Polyglot status, which can be saved up to twice. This gives you access to the two strong finisher spells Moder and Xenoglossia.
As a black magician, you have to switch between astral fire and shadow ice in a fight so that you can use the advantages of MP regeneration, spell reinforcement and those of Enochian over the long term.
How popular is the endgame job? In patch 5.1, the black mage was in a difficult situation. The summoner's strong buff, which is also more agile and can support the group, robbed it of its place as a strong magic DD.
Since the patch 5.4 it looks completely different. The black mage is often taken into the raids and offers himself a head-to-head race with the summoner for the top spot among the mages
Who is the black magician interesting for? Do you want to rain down death and ruin on your opponents in the game? Then the black magician is the perfect job for you. With it you can let real fireworks rise in the form of strong spells.
Almost all of his spells need some preparation time, but he can organize really great destruction celebrations. It is the typical glass cannon that should not be missing in any MMORPG.
Pros
- One of the strongest DDs
- Very simple MP management
- Rotation interesting for advanced players
Cons
- Not very mobile
- No utility skills for the group
- Difficult to master
Summoner
|
Job-specific armor of the summoner from the addon Shadowbringers |
Weapon: book
Where can I unlock the Summoner?
- Location: Limsa Lominsa, Lower Decks (X: 4.7 / Y: 11.4)
- NPC: Thubyrgeim
- Job Quest: Playing with Fire
- Requirements: Basic class Hermetic at level 30 and the completion of all class quests
What is the story of the summoners? What if you could use your opponents' most powerful weapon against them? With this in mind, centuries ago, the first summoners of the mighty Allagan Empire went into battle against the godlike primes.
They were called by rebellious peoples who wanted to free themselves from the rule of everyday life. The summoners absorbed the essence of the primes and formed powerful beings out of it, subject to their will. The insurgents had no chance.
But as great as the conjurers' merits in the battles were, their power and influence were feared. They were soon branded and cast out of society as slaves to their own incantations. Her magical art seemed irrevocably lost.
How does the gameplay work at level 80? The summoner's first focus is his DoTs (Damage over Time) called Bioga and Miasga, which should always be on the enemy if possible.
You apply them either individually or with the skill Trisaster, which applies both to the opponent at the same time. If there are several opponents, the DoTs are distributed to all of them by the Ban ability.
While the DoTs are ticking, you as the summoner use the energy drain ability and your main attack spell Ruinga. The energy drain gives you two Aether Flux charges that you can use for strong attacks.
|
The conjurer's trance bar in different phases of rotation: Bahamut trance (left), Bahamut conjuration (center), Phoenix conjuration (right) |
The job's second focus is on its incantations:
- Ifrit-Egi is used for single goals
- Garuda-Egi for area attacks
- Titan-Egi, when additional damage reduction is needed in combat
They can be exchanged for a short time in combat for the great incantations Bahamut and Phoenix. This is done by first using the Bahamut Trance ability.
The trance removes the preparation time of your spells and adds 2 charges to the trance bar, your resource. These 2 points are necessary to summon Demi-Bahamut.
He will support you in the fight with his attacks Dragon Wave and Bahamut Inflammation. As soon as Bahamut's timer runs out, he will disappear from the field and you will be given the option to summon Demi-Phoenix in his place. The skill Bahamut trance changes to the Phoenix trance.
So it is always important as a summoner:
- Get the highest amount of Phoenix and Bahamut Summons in one battle
- always keep the DoTs on the opponents
- use the Aether Flow Skills.
How popular is the summoner in the endgame? After their redesign in Patch 5.1, Summoners became the toughest DD job in FFXIV overnight. Almost every endgame group that made ultimate Alexander content had a summoner with them.
A nerf followed in patch 5.2, but most groups still stick to their summoners. The job does good damage, is very agile for a mage, and has support skills that make it popular with raiders. In the ultimate Alexander raid, he even leaves his competition far behind.
Who is the Summoner of Interest? If you want to be the master of the primes of FFXIV and pet jobs are generally your thing, then the summoner is for you. Even if the little Egi who support you in the fight don't look very impressive, you can still summon the mighty Bahamut and Phoenix and they can do it.
In addition, unlike the black mage, the summoner is a moving job. So if you like to play magicians, but don't like to be rooted to the spot, then you should also try the summoner.
Pros
- One of the strongest DDs in the game
- Very popular in raids
- Good group utility skills
Cons
- Errors lead to a high loss of DPS
- Very difficult to master
- The egi don't look good
Red mage
|
Job-specific armor of the red mage from the add-on Shadowbringers |
Gun: rapier
Where can you unlock the red mage?
- Location: Ul'dah, Thal cloister (X: 14.1 / Y: 11.7)
- NPC: Desperate girl
- Job Quest: The Traveling Red Mage
- Prerequisite: possession of the “Stormblood” expansion and at least one job at level 50
What is the story of the red mage? Need is the mother of all inventions. After the country was devastated by the 6th disaster many centuries ago, the few survivors fled to the mountainous regions of Gyr Abania.
The magicians of Mhach and Amdapor were directly responsible for the misfortune and decided together to develop a new school of magic that should unite their opposing teachings.
It was the hour of birth of the red mages, who swore to use their skills only to protect the weak. But over time, the red magic fell into oblivion and there were only a few who are able to use it.
How does the gameplay work at level 80? The red mage's gameplay is based on its two resources: white and black mana. This mana is generated in combat through the use of the corresponding white and black magic.
|
The red mage's job bar, which measures white and black mana. |
You have to make sure that the two mana bars are filled roughly evenly. For example, if the bar for black mana is more than 30 points above white, then the generation of white mana through magic is halved.
As soon as both mana bars show 80 points or more, the red mage can launch an attack that consumes this mana. It's a physical combo that requires standing close to your opponent.
After performing this 3 combo, the two spells Erzflare and Erz-Sanctus become available. But you can only do one of the two and you have to decide. The conclusion is the strong magic of collapse. After that, like rotation, starts all over again.
How popular is the endgame job? The red magicians don't have it easy in high-end game content. In return for their agility and strong support skills like instant resurrection, they do less damage than their two mage mages.
Accordingly, one looks in vain for a red mage in most raid groups. Unfortunately, the damage buff in patch 5.4 couldn't change that much. In epic content, the red mage is a valid job.
Who is the red mage for? If you haven't played any magician classes before and now want to get a taste of it, then the red magician is just right for you. The rotation of the job is comparatively simple and is great for beginners.
It's also an extremely stylish job with cool skill animations and an exciting story told through the job quests.
Pros
- Beginner-friendly magician DD
- Good support thanks to immediate resuscitation
- The skills look stylish
Cons
- By far the weakest magician DD
- Resuscitation of fellow players is loss of DPS
Final Fantasy XIV: Physical Ranged Fighter Jobs
In contrast to the magicians, the physical ranged fighter jobs can move freely across the battlefield. Their skills have no preparation time and, unlike the melee fighters, they do not have to be directly next to the opponent.
The ranged fighters are the third DD sub-role of Final Fantasy XIV. Their freedom of movement ensures that they often take over the execution of certain combat mechanics in raid battles, such as luring the AOEs away from the rest of the group.
bard
|
Job-specific armor of the bard from the Shadowbringers add-on |
Weapon: bow
Where can you unlock Bard?
- Location: Neu-Gridania (X: 15.4 / Y: 11.9)
- NPC: Luciane
- Job Quest: Powerful Melodies
- Requirement: Basic archer class at level 30 and the completion of all class quests
What's the story of the bard? If you think that the bard who just told you about the legends and myths of the country in the tavern is just a harmless singer, then think again.
He may be one of the few bards who have inherited the mighty archers of Gridania. Centuries ago at the time of the conflict, they inspired their comrades on the battlefield with their songs and gave them new strength.
Even if this art was forgotten over time, the successors of these bards still roam the country today and inspire the fighters with their singing.
How does the gameplay work at level 90? Besides the dancer, bards are one of the two "proc-based" ranged fighter jobs. It has 3 different songs which the bard can have active during the fight and which are played for 45 seconds each (unless you stop them prematurely).
During this time the songs can trigger the virtuoso effect with 80% probability. This is known as a "proc". The effect of virtuoso differs depending on the song that is currently being played:
- Minuet of the Wanderer: each proc gives the effect "virtuoso", which can be stacked up to three times and enables the use of the strong attack "perfect ear". It also increases the chance of critical hits for the bard and his party within range by 2%.
- Wise man's ballad: after a proc, the cooldown of the abilities “Bloodletting” and “Deadly Rain” is reset and the attack can and should be used immediately. It also increases the damage dealt to the Bard and his party within range by 1%.
- Anthem of the warriors : with each proc, the reactivation time of magic and abilities is reduced by 4%. The effect stacks up to 4 times. It also increases the chance of direct hits for the Bard and his party within range by 3%.
|
Bard's job bar with 3 virtuoso stacks and an almost filled soul voice bar |
When used, each song also gives a coda that bears its name (for example, the Wanderer's coda). They enable the use of the buff ability Luminous Finale.
- In the case of a coda, the group's damage increases by 2%,
- With two codas by 4%,
- With three codas by 6%.
The bard also has two “Damage over Time” skills (DoTs), “storm bite” and “caustic bite”, which are always cast on the opponent and should be maintained during combat. They affect the damage done by the powerful Side Cutter and Shadow Bite skills. Without the DoTs, the two skills do only a fraction of their damage.
The bard's gameplay is based on the basic principle that the player must always have his DoTs and the songs active on at least one opponent in order to generate procs through ticks and to strengthen other skills.
In addition, the bard fills his soul voice bar by 5 points with each virtuoso proc. From 20 points you can use the strong ability Apex Arrow, but it gets stronger the fuller the bar is.
How popular is the bard in the endgame? After many years of strong dominance in the raids, the bards must now give up their place in the ultimate content to the dancers who have more support skills.
But that does not mean that bards are no longer taken along. In the groups that run Alexander Ultimate you can still see the job regularly, even if the dancers are somewhat preferred. In the Eden Raid it looks darker. There only about 18% of the groups take a bard with them.
Who is the bard interesting for? If you like to do more than just hit damage numbers in combat, then the bard is the job for you.
With an arsenal of support skills, the Bard can contribute more to combat than most other DDs. If you have good reflexes or can multitask well in general, then you will also have fun with the bard.
Pros
- Good group utility skills
- Beginner-friendly DD
- One of the most mobile jobs in the game
Cons
- With the lowest damage of all DDs
- Needs good reflexes for the procs
machinist
|
The machinist's job-specific armor from the Shadowbringers add-on |
Weapon: rifle
Where can you unlock the machinist?
- Location: Ishgard, Foundations (X: 8.1 / Y: 10.1)
- NPC: Stephanivien
- Job Quest: No training without an instructor
- Requirements: Own the “Heavensward” expansion and complete the main scenario of “A Realm Reborn”
What is the machinist's story? In times of war, resources go into inventing new weapons that might turn things around. The Ishgard Nation Skysteel Workshops specialize in just that.
The talented engineers led by Stephanien de Haillenarte work tirelessly to improve their machines. To do this, they use a technology that absorbs the fighters' own ether and converts it into electricity that drives these machines.
Although some aristocrats in particular criticize and even mock the work of the Himmelsstahl workshops, the machinists saved many lives with their pistols and automatons during the bloody battles in the 1000-year war against the dragons.
How does the gameplay work? Unlike the other two ranged fighters, the machinist's skills are not “proc-based”.
Instead, the job has a basic combo that it does just like the melee fighters do. The specialty of the machinist consists of two resource bars:
Once you've generated 50 points in heat, you can use the hypercharge ability, which lasts for 8 seconds. During this time you will have access to the heat shot and crossbow skills.
|
The machinist's two resources. At the top left of the heat bar you can see the timer for hypercharging |
Each use of them reduces the cooldown of two other abilities: Gauss-Bullet and Rikoschett-Shot.
So while the hypercharge timer is ticking, you have to spam heat shot or crossbow while you make sure that Gaus and Rikoschett are used in between.
On the other hand, 50 points in the battery bar let you summon the Automaton DAME. It's a robot that fights alongside you and can use a powerful final attack when overheated.
Both heat and battery are generated through the use of your combo and other attack skills.
How popular is the endgame job? It looks bleak for the machinist in the ultimate content. In the group constellations for the Alexander and Eden raids, you practically do not see the job at all.
Of all ranged fighters, the machinist does the most self-damage, but unlike the bards and dancers, he has no support skills with which he could buff the group.
Who is the machinist interesting for? The machinist is your job if you love the freedom of movement of the ranged fighters, but don't feel like all the support stuff. With the job you can simply drive your damage.
The machinist also has a cool technical look that expresses itself in his skills. He can conjure up a big cannon out of his sleeve or the Automaton DAME who fights by your side.
Pros
- Strongest Ranged DD
- One of the most mobile jobs in the game
- Cool skill animations
Cons
- No utility skills for the group
- Rotation is very hectic in places
dancer
|
Job-specific armor of the dancer from the add-on Shadowbringers |
Weapon: Throwing weapons
Where can you unlock the dancer?
- Location: Limsa Lominsa Lower Decks (X: 9.8 / Y: 12.0)
- NPC: Excited guarantor
- Job Quest: Invitation to Dance
- Requirements: possession of the Shadowbringers expansion and at least one warrior or mage class at level 60
What is the dancer's story? In the great ocean, far from Eorzea, lies the island of Thavnair. She is known for her deserts, alchemy and the exotic dancers who occasionally visit the city-states with their dance troupes.
But only a few know that these troops do not only put on beautiful spectacles and great performances. They consist of hardened warriors who are just as good at guns as they are at the choreography of their dances.
And their tours of Eorzea have a specific purpose. For centuries they have been fighting an invisible and formless threat hidden in people's hearts.
How does the gameplay work at level 80? Similar to the bard, the dancer is based on “procs”, that is, random triggers that enable him to use additional skills in combat.
This means that you don't have a fixed rotation in the game, but rather it results from the procs that light up on your skill bar. This means that you first use your basic combo in combat and see whether other skills can be used afterwards.
At the core of the dancer gameplay are his two choreographies: simple and complex. Once activated, you have to perform a certain number of dance steps.
If done correctly, the two choreographies will give you buffs:
- Simple: Gives you an attack boost (duration 1 min)
- Complexes: Gives the whole group an attack boost (duration 20 seconds)
The simple choreography should always be kept active. Not only because of the attack bonus, but also because of the dancer's first resource: the dance fever.
The dance fever bar is filled randomly in combat whenever you attack opponents with your combos. As soon as it is half full, you will have access to the powerful sword dance ability.
|
The dancer's resource bar is divided into feathers (green tip top left), the esprit display (yellow bar) and the dance timer (bottom) |
The dancer's second resource is his plume burlesque. These feathers are generated randomly after using certain skills, so they are also Proc-based.
They enable the use of a group of additional skills called Fan Dance I, II and III. You can have a maximum of 4 such feathers and should be careful in combat that you use them regularly.
As a dancer, you can also choose a dance partner who will then benefit from the same buffs in combat as you do. Usually you take one of the strongest DDs from the group for this. The attacks of the dance partner also fill your dance fever bar.
How popular is the dancer in the endgame? Currently, the dancer is by far the most popular of the three ranged fighters in FFXIV. Many groups take the job with them when they run ultimate content due to its strong support skills.
Although the dancer's own damage is the lowest of all DD jobs, it compensates for this disadvantage by increasing the damage to the group. That makes him popular with the raiders.
Who is the dancer interesting for? Do you like to play supporters in MMORPGs, but don't feel like healing? Then the dancer is ideal for you. The concept of the job revolves around supporting the group with buffs while dealing damage yourself.
Dancer is also one of the most beautiful jobs in Final Fantasy XIV. So if you put a lot of emphasis on aesthetics, then you are at the right address with the dancer.
Pros
- Strongest group support
- Nice skill animations
- Is often taken along in raids
Cons
- Very low self-DPS
- Mistakes in the dances lead to a high loss of DPS
