From Elden Ring to Hogwarts Legacy
2022 is definitely a year of great gaming hopes. The coronavirus pandemic has shifted the releases of many projects that are now lined up next to each other in the coming year. So that you do not miss anything interesting, we talk about the most important of them.
God of War (PC) – January 14
And immediately a PC port of the great game - the action game God of War that thundered on the PlayStation. In it, Kratos, together with his son Atreus, travels through the world of Scandinavian (and not only) myths, and the game pleases not only with excellent battles but also with a surprisingly adult plot, which, among other things, is dedicated to the difficult relationship between his son and a harsh father.
Rainbow Six Extraction (PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Stadia, PC) - January 20
Team shooter about the hard everyday life of special forces, which fights against hordes of zombies. You can play in a team or with bots alone, choosing one of 18 operatives - each with their own unique abilities and tactics. The authors promise a huge selection of maps and many unique enemies that require a different approach.
Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection (PlayStation 5, PC) - January 28
Re-release of the last part of Uncharted, as well as the addition of The Lost Legacy. On PlayStation 5, the game is worth buying for the improved graphics, faster downloads, and DualSense controller support. The game has not yet been released on the PC at all, but there is something to pay attention to: the main character Nathan Drake is a real modern Indiana Jones, who, during the next treasure hunt, gets into the most unexpected adventures.
Dying Light 2 Stay Human (PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, PC) - February 4
The second part of the action game is about survival in a world full of zombies. Players are waiting for a huge open world, a non-linear plot, when the decisions made affect the development of events, interesting fights, and signature parkour. The developers also promise advanced graphics with support for ray tracing - if there are no performance problems, then the owners of modern systems will rejoice.
Sifu (PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, PC) - February 8
An unusual action game about a young kung fu fighter who must take revenge on his enemies. The mechanics of "aging" looks especially interesting: each death changes the characteristics of the hero and brings him closer to old age, which means the complete end of the game.
Total War: Warhammer 3 (PC) - February 17
The highly successful fantasy version of the famous strategy game is now in its third installment. In it, four more races and a new map await fans, and if you own the previous two parts, then maps and races from all games can be combined into one huge world.
Horizon Forbidden West (PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4) - February 18
Continuation of the adventures of Aloy - a girl who lives in an unusual world where primitive people coexist with advanced robots that look like animals. Players are waiting for new locations, interesting and moderately difficult battles and beautiful graphics. The main intrigue lies in the plot: the first part was largely fascinated by the question - what has changed our world so much? In the final, it was answered, so the authors will have to invent a new intrigue.
Elden Ring (PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC) - February 25
A new game from From Software, the authors of the famous Dark Souls series. This will be the studio's first game in the open world, so fans of the previous series will find even more interesting and challenging enemies. And for those who did not like the previous games of the studio because of the difficult enemies, there was hope that in the open world it would be possible to pump additionally, which would make some fights at least a little easier.
Grid Legends (PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC) - February 25
Already the fifth game in the popular racing series. The developers promise even more tracks (there will be on the streets of Moscow), cars, and modes. And online it will be possible to fight against 21 more people - a record for Grid.
Elex 2 (PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC) - M arch 1
A sci-fi RPG from the veteran Piranha Bytes, who gave us the legendary Gothic. Elex 2 takes place in a dark future, in the presence of an open world where the player himself can choose his own path. Moreover, in the second part, it will be possible not only to work for several factions, but also to create your own - it is expected that this will be one of the most interesting elements of the novelty.
Babylon's Fall (PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, PC) - March 2
A new game from the authors of NieR: Automata. We are waiting for a hurricane action that this time you can play with friends - the story tells about a team of four heroes who set off to conquer the giant and mysterious Tower of Babel.
Gran Turismo 7 (PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4) - March 4
A very long-awaited continuation of the racing game, which has always stood apart in the genre. It is the authors of Gran Turismo who pay special attention to graphics, atmosphere and are able to create that same feeling of love for cool racing cars. Let's see how it turns out in the seventh part.
Weird West (PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC) - March 31
Well, it's a very unique game. Before us is an action-RPG in a western setting, where sheriffs and bounty hunters live side by side with werewolves, mages and cultists. The plot tells about the five characters, unlike each other, but found themselves in this strange and interesting world. By the way, the decisions made in each chapter will affect the fate of the hero of the next - so to some extent the player will create the story himself.
Forspoken (PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC) - May 24
An action game with RPG elements about a hit girl who moved from New York to a fantasy world and is now trying to get back. The world itself is going through hard times: the Rift is gradually destroying the lands, so the central city is overflowing with refugees. The rift does not affect Frey, so she quickly becomes the main hope of a dying world.
Saints Row (PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC) - August 23
Restart of the famous reckless hooligan series. The events of the novelty unfold in a fictional city, which is divided by three gangs. Under these conditions, the player tries to put together his own gang and quickly finds himself drawn into a tough showdown.
Starfield (Xbox Series X/S, PC) – November 11
The next big game from Bethesda, which fans of large-scale RPGs and space operas have been yearning for so much. Not much is known about Starfield yet: events will unfold at a time when humanity is actively colonizing space, so the main character will not only have to explore new spaces, but also solve accumulated problems.
STALKER 2: Heart of Chernobyl (Xbox Series X/S, PC) – December 8
A game that needs no introduction. The continuation of the cult "Stalker" will be even more ambitious and with advanced graphics. The zone hides new mysteries, new enemies and friends. We are waiting with anticipation.
GhostWire: Tokyo (PlayStation 5, PC) - Estimated Spring 2022
Action game with elements of horror, the events of which will unfold on the streets of Tokyo filled with ghosts and spirits. Particularly intriguing are the fights, which the authors describe as "karate meets magic."
God of War: Ragnarok (PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4) - Estimated Fall 2022
The continuation of God of War will again focus on the story of Kratos and his grown son Atreus. The relationship between the two heroes is unlikely to be simple - and yet they are likely to face another conspiracy of the gods and many, many battles.
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League (PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC) - exact date unknown
An action-adventure that continues the story of the Batman: Arkham series, but now without Batman in the lead role. Instead, the plot tells the story of the Suicide Squad trying to stop Brainiac.
Gotham Knights (PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PC) - date unknown
And another one based on Batman comics and again without Batman - according to the plot, he is already dead. Gotham City is once again engulfed in a wave of crime, and new heroes will try to stop the villains - Batman's successors.
Hogwarts Legacy (PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PC) - date unknown
A massive game set in the Harry Potter universe. The protagonist is a Hogwarts student who explores mysteries, completes tasks, finds friends and deals with enemies. Players are waiting for an impressive open world, freedom of action and painfully beloved universe.
