 A complete list of all commandments for each category, the best commandments in the game


As soon as you collect three fragments of the Tablet, you can unlock a new commandment for your cult. This is done through the "Crown" menu in the temple. Commandments in Cult of the Lamb unlock unique traits for your followers, new rituals, or interactions. In this guide, we will go into detail about each of the available precepts, as well as give examples of the best ones that will be most effective during your playthrough.


The commandments are divided into five distinct groups, each divided into four levels: Afterlife, Labor and Worship, Property, Law and Order, and Subsistence. When you level up within a particular group, you will be presented with a choice of two commandments. They are unlocked in order, so in order to move to higher level commandments, you will have to unlock the commandments of the previous level. After you make a choice, the second commandment at the current level will not be available.

Guide to the Commandments in Cult of the Lamb

Commandment "Afterlife"

"Convince them that death is not the end."


The commandments of the afterlife focus on what will be the result of your followers' deaths - whether it be due to natural or any other causes. Once you have unlocked all four levels, you will have access to two features, a ritual, and a new building.


Level I

Faith in Sacrifice trait (unlocks a new trait for followers)


All members of the Cult gain the Faith in Sacrifice trait. +20 Faith each when another cult member is sacrificed.


Faith in the Afterlife Trait (unlocks a new trait for followers)


All members of the Cult gain Faith in the Afterlife trait. When someone dies, all followers lose 5 faith instead of the default 20.


Level II

Resurrection Ritual (unlocks a new ritual)


Perform the appropriate ritual in your temple, which will allow you to bring a dead follower back to life.


Funeral (unlocks a new ritual)


Perform the appropriate ritual at your temple to hold a funeral for a recently departed follower. This will give you 20 Faith.


Level III

Respect for Elders (unlocks a new trait for followers)


All members of the Cult will receive the Respect for Elders trait. Followers gain +5 trust for each elder in the cult.


The Good Die Young (unlocks a new feature for followers)


All members of the cult will receive the "It's Good to Die Young" perk. You will gain +10 Faith if you sacrifice, kill, or consume an Elder, but you will lose 20 Faith if the Elder dies of natural causes.


Level IV

Return to earth (building unlock)


Unlocks a natural burial. The corpses of dead followers can return to the ground, becoming fertilizer.


Mourn for the Fallen (building unlock)


Opens graves. Gain 2 Faith when followers mourn at the grave.


Commandments "Work and Worship"

“Bless them to prosper both in work and in love.”


The commandments of work and worship are designed to exploit your followers more effectively by increasing their devotion or making them work even harder. By unlocking the commandments of all four levels, you will gain access to a new feature, two rituals, and a team of followers.


Level I

Loyal/Devote Trait (unlocks a new trait for followers)


All members of the cult will receive the Loyal trait. Loyalty is generated 15% faster.


Hard work trait (unlocks a new trait for followers)


All members of the cult gain the Industrious trait. Work speed increased by 15%.


Level II

Inspiration (follower team unlock)


Inspire a follower to greatly increase their loyalty. Used instead of "Blessing".


"Intimidate" (Unlock Teammate)


Intimidate a follower to slightly increase their loyalty, as well as make them work 10% harder for the next two days. Used instead of "Blessing".


Level III

Glorify Construction (unlocks a new ritual)


Perform the appropriate ritual in your temple, which will immediately erect all buildings under construction.


Ritual of Enlightenment (unlocks a new ritual)


Perform the appropriate ritual at your temple, which will temporarily increase your temple's devotion rate by 20% for the next three days.


Level IV

Ritual of Glory Through Hard Work (unlocks a new ritual)


Perform an appropriate ritual in your temple that will allow your followers to work for 3 consecutive days and nights without getting tired.


Sacred Day (unlocks a new ritual)


Perform the appropriate ritual in your temple by declaring a day of rest. Your followers will not work that day and will receive +80 Faith.


Commandments "Property"

"Preach the value of earthly goods."


The commandments of possessions focus on receiving donations from your followers and getting them to take an interest in material objects and buildings. By unlocking the precepts of all four levels, you will gain access to a new follower action, two traits, and a ritual.


Level I

Solicit Tithing (follower action unlock)


Unlocks the Tithe Extortion follower action. Collect 1 coin from each follower once a day.


Bribe a follower (follower action unlock)


Unlocks the Bribe Follower action. Bribe a follower with three coins to increase their loyalty


Level II

Faith in Materialism trait (unlocks a new trait for followers)


All members of the cult will receive the corresponding trait. You will earn faith by building better sleeping quarters.


Faith in False Idols Trait (Unlocks a new trait for followers)


All members of the cult will receive the corresponding trait. You will earn more faith when placing decorative buildings.


Level III

Alms for the Poor (unlocks a new ritual)


Perform an appropriate ritual in your temple, distributing gold to all followers to increase their loyalty. You will also receive +10 Faith.


Enrichment Ritual (unlocks a new ritual)


Conduct the appropriate ritual in your temple, in which all followers donate coins to you.


Level IV

Sacred Architecture (unlocks a new trait for followers)


All members of the cult will receive the corresponding trait. Each time a new building is built, you will receive +5 points of faith.


Devotee Trait (unlocks a new Trait for Followers)


All members of the cult will receive the corresponding trait. You will earn more faith while preaching.


Commandments "Law and Order"

"Explain to them what true obedience means."


The Law & Order commandments are all about keeping your followers in check, including the ability to remove unruly followers through various rituals, marry them, pit them against each other in the arena (fighting pit), and more. When you unlock the commandments of all four levels, you will gain access to a new action with followers, features, and possibly a couple of new rituals (depending on your choice).


Level I

Follower Kill (Follower Action Unlock)


Unlocks the "Kill a Follower" action - a simple solution to many problems, but some followers may be upset by this... if they stay awake to witness it.


Follower's Ascension Ritual (unlocks a new ritual)


Conduct the appropriate ritual in your temple, in which you can lift the spirit of the follower to a higher level of existence. All followers will receive loyalty.


Level II

Fighting Pit Ritual (unlocks a new ritual)


Perform the appropriate ritual in your temple, in which two followers fight to the death.


Wedding (unlocks a new ritual)


Perform the appropriate ritual in your temple to marry/marry one of your followers and earn 30 Faith.


Level III

Faith in Original Sin Trait (unlocks a new trait for followers)


Everyone is born guilty. You will lose less faith by imprisoning a follower.


Faith in the Remission of Sins trait (unlocks a new trait for followers)


Freedom is above all. Each day that starts without prisoners gives you a +10 bonus to Faith.


Level IV

Supporter of Loyalty (unlocks a new ritual)


Perform a ritual at your temple in which you appoint a follower as your Loyalty Defender. He will be tasked with patrolling the cult and increasing the loyalty of your followers.


Tax Officer (follower team unlock)


Conduct the appropriate ritual in your temple, in which you will appoint a follower as a tax inspector, who will be tasked with collecting money from other cult members.


Commandments "Subsistence"

"Inspire them with reverence for their daily bread."


The commandments of sustenance focus on keeping your followers fed and healthy. By gaining access to all four levels, you will unlock a couple of new traits and rituals.


Level I

Ritual fast (ritual unlock)


Conduct the appropriate ritual in your temple to declare a fast. Followers will not eat or starve for three days.


Feast Ritual (unlocks a new ritual)


Unlock the Feast Ritual. Throw a grand feast for your followers to satisfy their hunger and gain +25 Faith!


Level II

Cannibal trait (unlocks a new trait for followers)


All members of the cult will receive the corresponding trait. +5 points of faith when eating meat dishes to each follower.


Grass Eater Trait (unlocks a new trait for followers)


All members of the cult will receive the corresponding trait. No negative faith if the follower eats food prepared from grass.


Level III

Harvest Ritual (unlocks a new trait for followers)


Perform the appropriate ritual in your temple, after which all the seeds will be immediately grown and ready for harvest.


Ritual "Gifts of the Ocean" (unlocks a new ritual)


Perform the appropriate ritual in your temple, which for two days will increase the chance of a special fish appearing while fishing. The catch will be doubled.


Level IV

Encouraged substances (unlocks a new feature for followers)


All members of the cult will receive the "Substance Encouragement" trait. Gain 20 Faith when performing a Brainwash Ritual.


Faith in Prohibition Trait (unlocks a new trait for followers)


All members of the cult will receive the corresponding trait. Increase work speed and devotion generation by 10%. However, after the brainwashing ritual, followers have a 50% chance of getting sick.


Best commandments to unlock

Because you can only unlock a limited number of commandments (only 20 out of the 40 available), it's important that you choose ones that complement and enhance each other, as well as fit your purpose as a cult leader. That being said, there are a few commandments that, in our opinion, are too good to be ignored.

Here is a list of the best:


  • Resurrection Ritual (Afterlife II). Perform the appropriate ritual in your temple, which will allow you to bring a dead follower back to life. Not only do older followers come back to life as young adults, but you can also keep followers alive with the best combinations of traits for an unlimited amount of time.
  • Loyalty Trait (Work and Worship I) - All cult members will receive the Loyalty Trait. Loyalty is generated 15% faster. Since many of your cult's upgrades are devoted to devotion, you need to use all methods to increase its generation.

  • Holy Day (Labor and Worship IV). Perform the appropriate ritual in your temple by declaring a day of rest. Your followers will not work that day and will receive +80 Faith. This is a great ritual to turn the situation on its head if something goes wrong.
  • Faith in False Idols Trait (Property II) - All cult members will gain the False Idols Trait. They will earn more faith when placing a decorative building. Now the corresponding buildings not only decorate your settlement but also increase faith. It's a win-win!
  • Defender of Loyalty (Law & Order IV) - Perform a ritual at your temple in which you designate a follower as your Defender of Loyalty. He will be tasked with patrolling the cult's territory and increasing the loyalty of your followers. Instead of checking followers yourself every day, you can ask someone else to do it!
  • Grass Eater Trait (Subsistence II) - All members of the cult will receive the Grass Eater trait. No penalty to faith if the follower eats food made from grass. This is useful as the grass is a relatively common and inexpensive resource that can be used to quickly satisfy the hunger of all followers.
