FIFA 23 Best Lineups, Tactics & Instructions - Game Guide

Best formation in FUT 23

Of course, if you want to get the best rewards in FIFA Ultimate Team in Division Rivals and Squad Battles, your FUT squad should be strong.

But which lineup is the best? Unfortunately, the question cannot be answered 100%, as it always depends on your own playing style and your players. Above all, you should also understand the new chemistry system and use position changes skillfully. After you've done that, you should orientate yourself to your preferences and your players.

Important note: FIFA 23 has only just been released, so a clear meta has yet to emerge. The following lists are of course only suggestions. As in real football, not every coach uses the same approach. Nevertheless, you should take a closer look at the following lists. Above all, try out several formations, otherwise, you will never find out which formation suits you best. Also, the guide is still in progress. As more information becomes available on the best directions, we will update the guide accordingly.

The best lineups in FIFA 23

Formation 4-2-2-2

The first formation you should look at is 4-2-2-2:

The individual tactic should look like this:

  • Defensive Style: Balanced
  • Width: 50
  • Depth: 50
  • Development game: Balanced
  • Opportunity creation: Direct passes
  • Width: 50
  • Players in the penalty area: 3
  • Corners: 3
  • Free kicks: 3

The instructions should look like this:

You can leave everything on "Standard" for the four offensive players (2x ST, 2x ZOM). One of the two sixes (ZDM) gets "Cover in the middle" and "Stay behind when attacking", the other ZDM only gets "Cover in the middle". One of your two full-backs should also get "Stay behind on attacks". All other instructions remain on "default".

Formation 4-4-2

The second formation, which is also very popular at the start, is the 4 - 4 - 2:

The individual tactic should look like this:

  • Defensive Style: Balanced
  • Width: 50
  • Depth: 50
  • Development game: Balanced
  • Chance Creation: Runs to the top
  • Width: 52
  • Players in the penalty area: 6
  • Corners: 1
  • Free kicks: 1

The instructions should look like this:

Both STs should get "Defense Overrun" and "Stay In Front" respectively. Both Wingers (LM & RM) receive Stay Outside. Both ZMs get "Cover the middle", and at least one ZM should get "Stay behind when attacking", but you can also give this instruction to both sixes. You should also set both full-backs to "Stay behind when attacking". All other instructions remain on "default".
