In order to unlock the Grain Mill and Fermentation Keg, however, you must first prove that you are capable of surviving. Juno, your little fire fairy, puts up a big book in your house during the second chapter. There you can complete tasks and receive rewards in return.

Complete three pieces of Juno's quests and mark them as complete in the book. This will automatically unlock the instructions for both machines.

Now you finally have the two machines in your inventory and can use them. If you put them in the right place. It's a bit tricky, because although the Grain Mill and Fermentation Keg are both crafting objects, they can't be placed around the house .

Instead, stand on your buildable field and look for an empty spot. Each Grain Mill and Fermentation Keg requires a blue box. The soil does not have to be plowed, just freely available without plants. Equip one of the two machines in your quickslot inventory and place it as if you were planting a seed in the ground.

This places the machines on the field and you can operate them directly. Since you can buy and place several machines, you should divide up the space well until you expand the farm at the dealer. At the beginning, a grain mill and a fermentation barrel are sufficient.
