Diablo 4 offers players a huge open-world map that will take dozens of hours to explore. There is a way to travel through gloomy locations faster - use your own horse. But you can't get a mount right away. We tell you where to find a horse in Diablo 4.
Unfortunately, the mount will not be available at the beginning of the game, and even when you arrive in the capital of Kyovashad, you will not be able to get the horse right away. You need to complete a series of actions before you start traveling faster.
In this guide, we will tell you how and when you can get the Mount: Donan's Favor mount quest, how to complete it, and how you can customize your horse.
When to get a horse in Diablo 4?
You won't be able to get a horse in Diablo 4 until the start of Act 4.
When the player first arrives in Kiovashad in the prologue, they will receive three quests: one for Act 1, one for Act 2, and one for Act 3. You can complete these quests in any order, although some are easier than others. But you must complete all three main quests before you can proceed to Act 4.
Where can I get the horse quest in Diablo 4?
At the very beginning of Act 4, players will once again find themselves in Kyowashad to meet Donan at the Cathedral of Light. This will happen during the Master's Touch quest. Completing the quest will unlock Mount: Grace of Donan, which is a mount quest in Diablo 4.
This will happen when you are about level 30, but it also depends on what difficulty you play on and how many additional tasks you have completed. You can ignore side content until you get a horse, as this will greatly speed up the character's movement speed through the open world.
Speak with the stablemaster in Kyowashad. He stands near the bridge leading to the city where Lorat traveled west at the beginning of the game. After a short conversation, you will receive a pop-up window with a warning about how the mount system works, and you can customize the color of the horse.
Other mounts will cost you 20,000 gold. This is quite expensive at the start of the game, but thankfully, each mount becomes available to all characters on your account.
How does the horse work in Diablo 4?
Traveling on horseback is much faster than on foot. It also allows you to easily and quickly activate Lilith's Altars or bypass groups of monsters that want to kill you. But most importantly, you will unlock the horse for all the following characters on your account once you complete this quest. This will greatly speed up the early stages for new playthroughs.
You can mount at any time while exploring the open world of Sanctuary by pressing the "Z" key on your keyboard or the right D-pad button on your controller. When you ride, the ability bar changes to reflect the abilities specific to the mount.
The horse has an acceleration system that allows you to increase speed for up to three times in a row. After a short cooldown, these charges will begin to regenerate one at a time. While dashing, you become unstoppable - this means that the player can pass through monsters unhindered, so it is recommended to always keep one of the charges in case you are surrounded by enemies.
Each class also has its own unique riding skill that you can use to quickly dismount and launch an attack.
The horse cannot die. If you take damage while on horseback, the counter in the interface will fill up. If the counter reaches the maximum, the horse will drop the hero and he will not be able to jump back during the cooldown.
Helpful Hint: Jump off your mount early to avoid filling up the gauge.
How to customize a horse in Diablo 4?
In the stable, you can change the appearance of the horse and buy new items such as saddles. Such items are purely cosmetic in nature, changing the appearance of the horse. At the moment there is no way to increase the speed of the horse or the number of charges.
If you managed to get a trophy for killing the world boss Ashav during the beta test, then you can apply the skin in any stable as soon as you get the mount.
Cosmetic items can be purchased with in-game gold from any of the stable managers in the main settlements, while additional items can be unlocked in the Diablo 4 store and through the Season Battle Pass. In addition, there is a small chance that horse customization items will drop from chests, rare enemies, and world bosses.
For those who want to get into a little PvP, there are special mount customization options. Stable owners will exchange cosmetic items for a special resource that can be earned in PvP zones.
Some quests and events in the game also bring rewards to decorate the horse.
How to get the Decaying Steed Mount
The Decaying Steed Mount in Diablo 4 drops from goblins that spawn randomly around the world. Players must be very lucky to face one of them. The goblin will try to run away from the character and use the portal. You must attack him to interrupt the teleportation. During the treasure run, don't be distracted by the monsters that attack you, and try not to lose sight of the goblin.
After you defeat a Treasure Goblin, it can drop a lot of great loot, including a mount. But, as we have already noted, the chance of falling out is very low.
