The developers of Baldur's Gate 3 stated that about 17,000 different endings await players. As a team, we went through this game in as many ways as possible to tell you how to get all the good and bad endings, as well as a secret scenario in which Gale comes to the aid of the main character.
How many endings are there in Baldur's Gate 3
In the final choice, you either join the illithids and help them take over the world, or destroy them, freeing the universe from tyranny and enslavement. Therefore, there are only two main endings: good and bad. They, in turn, can be divided into twelve. The remaining 16,988 endings are various relationships with factions, quest characters, and associates.
How to get all the good endings
To complete the game with a good outcome, you need to destroy the Netherian Brain, as well as all the illithids and their larvae. This way you will stop the invaders, and depending on the method, you will get several unique scenes of character development.
How to get a good "Great Hero" ending
Once you reach the Netherian Brain, use your mind to order it to self-destruct. This will set off a chain reaction, resulting in the death of all illithid larvae. To get this ending, make neutral or good decisions, climb as high as possible to the Netherian Brain, and kill all the enemies that live in the tower.
How to get a good ending "Emperor Liberator"
If you don't want to make life-changing decisions, you can give this burden to the Emperor if you take him into your squad for the final battle. You also have to reach the Netherian brain, but an allied illithid will force it to self-destruct. After this, the Emperor will receive a new title: “Liberator of the peoples enslaved by the Mind Eater.”
How to get the good ending "The Emperor and the Hero's Sacrifice"
If you don't want to make life-changing decisions, you can give this burden to the Emperor if you take him into your squad for the final battle. You also have to reach the Netherian brain, but an allied illithid will force it to self-destruct. After this, the Emperor will receive a new title: “Liberator of the peoples enslaved by the Mind Eater.”
How to get the good ending "The Emperor and the Hero's Sacrifice"
The next ending is tied to the character Orpheus, who is imprisoned by the Netherian brain. Having taken the Emperor into your team, refuse to take the special larva, and then free Orpheus. The allied illithid won't like this, but it won't cause much trouble. At the final choice of the Netherese Brain, Orpheus will offer himself as a sacrifice. In a new dialogue, offer your help, leaving Orpheus as the ruler of his people. Well, after the victory, order your new comrade to kill you. Then you will become a true hero, and even Laezel will mark your sacrifice.
How to get the good ending "Orpheus' Sacrifice"
After saving Orpheus, do not stop him from being a hero. Transforming into an illithid, he will stop the invasion, but later ask for his life to be ended. Thus, you will save the world, but will fade into the background, leaving no trace in the history of Baldur's Gate.
How to get all bad endings
To unlock the bad endings, the player will have to betray his comrades and submit to the will of the Netherian brain. Depending on the situation, the main character can retain his appearance or become an illithid.
How to get the Becoming Absolute bad ending
By playing an evil character, you can follow the path of the Absolute. In the final choice, agree to the offer of the Netherian Brain, betray your team and lead the illithid invasion. The enslaved peoples will not say “thank you” to you, but who are they to condemn your imperial plans?
How to get the bad ending "Emperor Absolute"
Take the Emperor into your squad, but it won’t matter what the relationship is between you. In the final choice, agree to the terms of the Netherian Brain, but transfer the new responsibilities to your companion. This way you will retain your appearance, but still enslave the remaining population.
How to get the bad ending "Absolutely Single"
You will again need the Emperor in the detachment, and you will also have to accept the conditions of the Netherian brain. This ending differs in that after the dialogue you kill your friend illithid, and also deal with the remaining allies. As a result, you are the only one who will decide the fate of the remaining worlds.
How to get the Oath of Bhaal bad ending
As you progress through the story quests, you will encounter the god Baal. For the next bad ending, you will need to become a follower and bring his teachings to the world. Alternatively, when starting a new game, you can choose a ready-made character Dark Seduction , which is initially associated with this ancient deity. This way the story will be complete, and in the end, having betrayed everyone, you will conquer worlds in the name of the god Baal. For the final battle, take the Emperor into your team and accept the terms of the Netherian Brain, then kill the allied illithid for the glory of Bhaal to become the Absolute, but under the auspices of the ancient deity.
How to get the bad ending "Good in the Name of Bhaal"
Once you become a follower of an ancient god, you don't have to follow the teachings of Baal and conquer worlds. For the final battle, take the Emperor on your team and refuse the Netherian brain. An allied illithid will help free the people enslaved by the Mind Eater, but everything has its price. All worlds and creatures will be saved except your character. For breaking the oath, Baal will forever take control of the hero’s body and will personally seek new bloody gifts for himself.
How to get the bad ending "Adoption of the illithid"
An unusual ending will be waiting for you if you decide to act outside the box. Save Orpheus and allow him to turn into an illithid, then attack him with your entire squad. In this case, you will fulfill the will of the Netherian brain and can come to bow to it. You will be accepted and turned into an illithid, which will make the main character part of the plan to conquer the worlds.
How to get the Gale and the Bomb Secret Ending
If you have a good relationship with Gale, completed his quest line and took him with you on the final trip, then another ending awaits you. Once you're at the base of the brain, Gale will tell you that he can destroy the Netherian Brain on his own using the orb in his chest. Agree to his offer and just watch what is happening from the harbor.
If you completed the "Wizard of Waterdeep" quest before Act 2, then the first time you encounter the Netherian Brain, you can blow yourself up with Gale. The game will end, and the narrator will hint that this was not the end he expected from you, but this will help save Baldur's Gate, although others will have to fight all the mature larvae.
