How to easily defeat the Dung Defender in Hollow Knight

 

We are going to see in this Hollow Knight guide how to easily defeat the Dung Defender, a main boss, necessary to advance to the Isma grove. We can find it in the Royal Canals, northeast road towards the aforementioned Isma grove. He is a large champion who protects the path, formerly known as Ogrim.

We are going to see the main movements or attacks of the enemy and the strategy to kill him easily.

Strategy to defeat the Manure Defender

This is a fairly large boss, with a lot of life, exceeding 700, although at this point you should already have some improvement in the stinger and the life masks that we recommend you wear. He has several attacks, which he always accompanies along with his laughter:

• Throwing: The Dung Defender forms and throws two balls of dung, one after the other. These balls will bounce around the battlefield for around six seconds and then disappear. But they don't disappear if they impact us.
• Burst: In this attack the boss will dive beneath the ground, stirring it up as it moves from one side of the battlefield to the other. After a few seconds, the Dung Defender will be launched from the ground, releasing balls of dung into the air at a distance from himself, with him in the center of the rain. These balls will not bounce, instead, they will break as soon as they touch the ground or upon impact.
• Enthusiasm: At some point during the battle, the Dung Defender will scream loudly again and go into frenzy mode for several seconds, especially when he is low on health. During this time, the boss will chain multiple and rapid Bursts, emerging from the ground again and again looking for us.
• Evade: when we are very close, he can turn into a ball and retreat, and this way he will position himself better against us.

We highly recommend taking a step back after each blow we give it with the stinger. It is very fast and chains many attacks and movements, so the safest thing to do will be to hit little but safely. Dungballs can be destroyed with spells such as Howling Wraiths, but not other attacks.
