Worlds dates
In reality, it is to make room for professional LoL Esports players who will participate in Asian Games in Hangzhou, China. As a result, the Worlds will take place from October 10 to November 19, spanning four different locations in South Korea.
- Play-Ins: October 10 to 15 (LoL Park, Seoul)
- Group stage: October 19 to 29 (KBS Arena, Seoul)
- Quarts de finale: from 2 to 5 November (Sajik Indoor Gymnasium, Busan)
- Demi-finals: November 11 and 12 (Sajik Indoor Gymnasium, Busan)
- Finale : 19 novembre (Gocheok Sky Dome, Séoul)
The format of LoL Worlds 2023
22 teams participate in this world championship, which is separated into 3 phases.
Step 1: Play-In
- Eight teams participate
- The teams are divided into two double-elimination groups. The draw took place at the end of the 2023 LEC season finale on September 10
- The matches take place in BO3
- The winner of the winner bracket of one group faces the winner of the lower bracket of the other group
- The winners of BO5 are qualified for stage 2
Stage 2: the group stage
- 16 teams participate
- 14 teams prequalified for stage 2 + the 2 qualified from stage 1
- Swiss round format over five rounds
- After the 1st match, teams in 1-0 play other teams in 1-0, then teams in 1-1 play other teams in 1-1, teams in 2-0 play each other, etc.
- Matches will be drawn at the end of each round
- Teams with three wins advance to Phase 3, while teams with three losses are eliminated.
- The qualification and elimination matches take place in BO3; all other matches take place in BO1
Stage 3: Playoffs
- Eight Stage 2 qualifiers participate
- Knockout Tree
- Matches in BO5
The tournament will take place on patch 13.19, with Briar disabled.
