Monkey Totem in Roots of Pacha: All offerings and how to solve the puzzle

We'll tell you where the monkey totem is in Roots of Pacha, what you need to activate the test, and how you can pass it.

In the Roots of Pacha cave, you can only progress and get important materials if you pass the totem tests. Here we'll tell you where you can find the monkey totem, what offerings you have to bring to him, how to pass the test, and what awaits you afterwards.

Here it is: To get to the Monkey Totem, you first have to pass the Glyptodon and Owl Totem tests. As you continue through the cave you will also come across the horse totem, but you can ignore it for now. We also have guides for you for these two exams:

On the map, you can see where the monkey room is. Once you have reached it, you will also unlock fast travel there:

The monkey room is located northwest of the beach and northeast of the horse totem.

You need these offerings:

  • any fermented fish
  • any flour
  • any juice

Pass the exam

In the test that follows, you use the transformation, which you can then use at other points in the cave. You become a monkey who can jump over stone pillars.

But be careful: If you press the button individually for each jump if you hold it for too long, or press it in the wrong direction, you can fall into the water. Then you have to start again from the beginning or from a checkpoint.

During the test, some of the stone pillars on your path are often too low. You have to move them up by playing the appropriate painted instrument. The challenge is that only the columns of one instrument are active and the columns become impassable again as soon as you play the next song.

If it's too much work for you to figure out in which order to play the instruments and which paths to take, we'll list everything for you here:

  • Play the green xylophone and take the pillars to the left of the island.
  • Play the (orange) pan flute and take the path above.
  • From the next island, you can now continue to the right without an instrument. Go down at the first junction and down again at the second.
  • Now play the blue xylophone. You then start again with the same columns ( now on the left ), this time taking the path up at the first junction.
  • Play the (green) ocarina on the next island and then take the path at the bottom left, follow it straight ahead, and ignore the junctions. Don't be surprised: Now you are back on one of the previous islands, but a different instrument is active.
  • This time follow the path that leads up from the island.
  • Now play the blue xylophone and take the path to the far left of this island (you first have to walk across the narrow part of the island).
  • Play the orange xylophone and take the path to the right.
  • From the next island, take the pillars on the left again and go down at the junction and then right.
  • From the next island, you have to go up.
  • Play the (green) ocarina and take the pillars on the left. Keep straight ahead at the junction.
  • On the next island just follow the pillars up.
