Starfield: How does Persuasion work to convince people in conversations?

With these tips, you will be able to take advantage of the Persuasion system in Starfield to convince NPCs of anything during certain conversations that will take place on your journey.

Starfield: How does Persuasion work to convince people in conversations?

As your journey through the Starfield universe progresses, you will find yourself in some conversations where a [PERSUASION] box appears on the left side of the screen. This means that it is possible to convince the NPC of something. Depending on the conversation, it may help you with a certain objective, and give you a better reward... Here you will see everything you need to know to complete it.

How to use Persuasion to convince someone

The Starfield Persuasion system will give you several options, each with a color and a number:

  • The colors indicate the probability that the attempt will work:
    • The green color indicates that it is very likely to work.
    • The yellow color indicates that it is difficult for it to work.
    • The Indian red color is very difficult to make work.
  • The Persuasion (Social) skill makes it more likely to convince someone during persuasion.
  • Then there are the numbers on either side of the options. They indicate the Persuasion segments that are filled.
  • Of course, it is necessary to fill out all the segments of the conversation in question to convince the NPC. The more difficult it is, the more segments you fill.

As you can see, luck plays a role as much as your Social skills when it comes to being able to succeed in one of these special dialogues.

Logically, there will be conversations where you have to fill out more Persuasion segments than others, depending on the contextual difficulty of the situation we want to resolve. One thing you can try is to save your game before doing anything in one of these cases. If possible, press cancels during the conversation so you don't have to try anything, quick save and try again. If you can't, load a recent autosave and, knowing you'll have to convince someone, make a save before speaking and repeat until you get it.
