Lethal Company is a co-op survival horror game where players must search for various items for sale and confront a large number of monsters along the way. Some users are facing an issue where the microphone in the game does not work. In this guide, we will describe all the effective ways to solve the problem.
How to Fix Microphone Not Working in Lethal Company
Voice communication in Lethal Company is very important because it will help you communicate with your friends. Of course, you can use various instant messengers, such as Discord. However, in this case, the challenge that the game provides will be lost. After all, in order to communicate with friends at a distance, you need to use a walkie-talkie during the gameplay. Below we have prepared a number of effective methods that will help you get rid of problems with a non-working microphone and completely immerse yourself in the gameplay.
Set up your microphone in-game
Surely, you have already tried this method, but it would be useful to make sure. To do this, launch Lethal Company, select one of the proposed sections ( Online or Lan ), and then go to the “Settings” item.
Click on the square in the upper left corner displaying the name of the equipment and stop at the one you need. Here you can check its functionality - all you need to do is talk into the microphone. If the device is detected in the game, the scale under the square will glow green.
Check the device connection
It sounds trivial, but the very first thing to do in this situation is to check the device connection. Perhaps your PC simply does not detect the device.
- If you are using a USB microphone or the built-in microphone in your headphones, we recommend connecting them to a different USB port.
- When using analog microphones, be sure to insert the audio device plug into the correct audio input jack.
Update your audio drivers
- Open Device Manager . To do this, use the “Win+R” keyboard shortcut to open the “Run” application and paste the “devmgmt.msc” parameter into the line without quotes;
- Expand the section "Audio outputs and audio inputs" ;
- Select the desired device (all connected devices will be displayed here, regardless of connection type), right-click and select “Update driver” ;
- Wait until the search completes and downloads the current driver, then restart your PC.
Check your device in system settings
- Click on the speaker icon in the lower-left corner of the screen RMB and open “Sound Options” ;
- Scroll down the page, then select "Advanced sound options".
- You will immediately be taken to the menu of all audio devices. In the “Recording” section, find the microphone you need and make sure it is turned on.
- Right-click and set the value to “Use as default” ;
- It also doesn't hurt to select "Use default communication device".
Install the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Package
Disable Windows Defender Antivirus and Firewall
Check the integrity of game files
- Open the Steam launcher and go to the library;
- Find the game in the list and right-click on it;
- Select “Properties” - “Installed files” - “Check integrity of game files”.
