Where to hunt a Thanator in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora?
The Thanator is one of the most dangerous creatures on Pandora. However, you may come across them relatively early in your adventure. Indeed, the Thanator lives in the Kinglors Forest, the very first area of the game. To find him, you will have to move to the side of the Tulle Lakes region, and more precisely to the part southwest of the River of the Mentor. The Thanator is hidden in a forest littered with roots that you can easily recognize directly on your map. To find its precise location, refer to our screenshot below.
Note that if you decide to complete most of the side quests, you should encounter the Thanator of Kinglors Forest fairly early in your adventure. Indeed, by doing the side quest “Field Research” , you will be required to look for ingredients right in the beast's territory. After a while, you should no longer be able to use your Na'vi sense and your colleague will ask you to leave the area quickly. Trust him, because the Thanator is one of the most dangerous creatures in the game and you won't be able to take him out unless you are at least level 16 or higher.
Why and how to hunt a Thanator in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora?
There are several reasons why you might want to hunt the Thanator. For trophy hunting enthusiasts, one of the challenges requested by the game (the “No easy prey” trophy ) will, for example, require you to eliminate one to be validated. If you're not really the type to play for these challenges, be aware that the Thanator is also very useful thanks to the ingredients it leaves on its corpse. Indeed, you can recover a Thanator Fang (107-123 health bonus), a Thanator Heavy Hide (107-123 health bonus) and Thanator Lean Meat (Fury III: +50% damage) . These three elements are among the best ingredients in the game in their category and will allow you to craft excellent armor or cook a dish that will give you a very big damage boost.
However, to collect these rewards, you will first need to eliminate the Thanator. Once on its territory, you will no longer be able to use your Na'vi sense. Don't panic, you won't really need it to look for it since it will come directly to you after a few seconds. You will have understood, if you want to recover its ingredients with the best possible quality, you will need a very good heavy bow and a particularly developed skill. Without any possibility of taking him by surprise, you will therefore have to manage to shoot a fully loaded arrow into the side of the neck to eliminate him without any mistakes. This should take some practice, but be aware that if there is only one Thanator in the area at a time, it will reappear after a certain time. Don't hesitate to overuse campfires to pass the time.
